Odd's and End's

LOL How is that for a title? Today is Thimbleberries Day! Unfortunately~ I won't be sewing with y'all, I'll be painting. ;-) Please be sure to let me know if you are sewing, and I'll stop by tonight. :-)

This is a photo of the hardwood floor in the kitchen. It is also in the entry. We had them refinished and I love them! It is red oak. Now we are thinking maybe we should do the whole family room before we move! LOL :-)
And this is the kitchen~ it was hot so I rigged up an old drape in the sky light while we were priming in there. ;-) This is my 'before' photo. I can hardly wait to get the painting done for the after! :-))

These are in the cottage~ good work going on in there! :-)

If you haven't already signed up for my giveaway~ be sure to check it out below. I am just loving coming home at night and finding your comments! Thank you!! And speaking of giveaways... :-) My Mom is having one too~ drop in on her soon! Good luck! :-)

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'... or in my case.. painting! LOL

Whoohoo!

We finally, I mean finally got all the wall paper glue off of the walls and started putting the primer on today. I look like I have a badly done French manicure~ the primer is under all my fingernails because they poked through the gloves I was wearing! :-o LOL :-) That's ok~ soon we'll be painting, then hard telling what color my nails will be! ;-)

So to celebrate~ how about a giveaway? :-) I have 2 sets of 6 vintage sheet FQ's and 4- 30's FQ's. Tell me which you'd like to win and I'll toss your name in the appropriate hat. I'll draw on Sunday. You don't have to become a follower, but if you do and tell me in a separate comment, I'll toss you in again! And if you are already a follower and tell me (in a separate comment) I'll toss you in twice! :-)

Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Working Away Over Here!~

No time to play. :-(
But I know the work is going to be so worth it! DH and I have removed all the wall paper from the family room, bathroom and kitchen. Whoohoo!! Today we were going to scrub down the walls to get ready for priming and ...yuk! The bathroom washed up great. The family room? No matter how much, hard, or often we scrubbed, it still felt sticky. :-/ We tried everything we had along with us and were not happy... and hubby wore a hole in his cloth. So we called it a day and came home. We'll try again tomorrow.
This is the family room. The kitchen is behind me with a nice big counter separating the two areas. Out the door and you are in the backyard patio. I didn't take a photo of the kitchen today because we had someone refinishing the floors and didn't think he wanted to be on my blog. LOL

These are the before shots of inside the cottage. They had the desk and cabinets built in. I'm keeping those. They also had a wall of shelves... many were stained and spotted. They got removed today. :-) I'll have 'after' photo's next week. :-) Sorry the lighting is bad in this one~ but did you notice the sky light? :-)

That's all for now~ Sew a seam for me! I miss my machine! :-)

C'mon In!

Thank you for all your well wishes for our new home! We are so excited! But before we move we have wall paper to remove and painting to do. Today we looked at paint chips~ so many choices! :-o I've never really lived somewhere where I could paint to my heart's content, usually we had to paint it back before we moved, so I just opted not to bother. Since this is our 'forever' home, I can add a little color! :-) And I'm nervous about that! :-o

When you step in the front door and look to your right, you are looking into the living room and dining area. This isn't our furniture, I took this photo when we were still house-shopping. The other shot is from the dining room back to the front door.

If you look up~ the stairs in front of you and on the left will take you up to a nice big storage room, a full bath and 2 bedrooms. Can't you see a quilt hanging from that rail? :-)

I also need to give a little shout out to Sandra of The Cumberland Island Quilt Chick. Sandra takes great photo's of her island home and shares them on her blog, as well as her quilts~ and she is working on a real fun one now! Stop over and say hi. ;-) She had a little fun a few weeks ago where she asked her readers to guess what she was working on. I had been looking at patterns only the day before, so I had a good idea of what she was up to! ;-) I was correct and she sent me some of her patriotic stash. Sandra, do you have any left?! :-)) I was tickled pink because my own stash had dwindled to nothing. I am looking for the perfect patriotic pattern now to make a little wall hanging for our entry~ the wall at the base of the stairs. Do you have any good ideas for me? Thanks Sandra!! :-) I also love the photo you used for your note card. :-)

That's all for now~
Hope you are having a great weekend! :-)

A Few More Photo's~

Thank you all for your well wishes on our new home! I am really looking forward to getting settled and having 'a place for everything'! We have a bit of work to do before we move though, that is why my CGQC goals are about stripping (wallpaper!) ;-) and painting. We also hired someone to refinish the hardwood floors in the kitchen and entry. Hopefully that work can start next week. ;-)
This is the back of the house~
We love the covered patio! It has 2 skylights and the opposite side is open to the yard. It will be perfect for enjoying an iced tea. :-) Or relaxing with a good book. :-)

If you stand at the front door and look to the drive, this is what you will see. We have a small winding private drive with lots of flowering shrubs along it. Looks like I need to do some pruning soon. LOL :-)

Come on it the front door!~ we'll look around a bit inside next time. ;-)

Have a great evening!

Our House..

♫♪..is a very, very, very fine house! :-)) ♫♪♫♪

I've been keeping a biggie secret from y'all for the past month. :-o Not sewing a lot because it is hard to sew with your fingers-crossed all the time! But this afternoon it became official! Whoohoo! :-) We are now the very happy owners of~

which comes with~

a quilt cottage! :-)

We have a bit of work to do before we move, but we aren't moving far~ maybe 20 minutes away. We want to refinish the kitchen floor, remove some wallpaper and paint, and fix a few things in the cottage. I'm giving myself about a month to get everything done. :-)

So my Charming Girls Club Goals for the next 2 months?

1. remove wallpaper :-o
2. paint!
3. keep my sanity by sneaking in some stitching when I can. LOL ;-)

I know those 3 are going to keep me plenty busy!

Until next time~~
Happy stitchin'!!

Quilts!

Some of you have asked for more photo's of the Sister's Outdoor Show. Well, my photo taking abilities weren't the best, and I had DS's smaller camera, but here ya go~

We got off of the bus right next to the Stitchin Post quilt shop. This was the side of it~
the sun was bright and it was already getting a bit warm. The day got much warmer, and the wind liked to flutter the quilts a bit too, but it was exciting to see so many quilts displayed everywhere! They said there were 1200 quilts. I'm thinking I maybe saw a quarter of them up close. ;-) These were some that caught my eye~The one on the right was a BOM that the Stitchin Post had one year. I don't remember who designed the pattern.

I think this is a Lori Smith pattern called 'Quilt Block Sampler'. I spotted a number of her quilt patterns. ;-)

Are you noticing that I was drawn to the scrappy quilts? ;-) This one had the tiniest pieces!

This one was a challenge for a quilt group in Oregon. The participants were given the center panel and designed around it. I'm really sorry now that I didn't take the time to write down quilters names, etc. But I think if you go the Sisters website, you can see a lot of the quilts that were for sale at the show.

That's all for now~
Have a great day!

I'm baa-ack!

:-) I had a great time at my retreat, meeting new friends and connecting with old. :-) And the Sisters show was great! Beautiful weather~ my photo taking skills though, leave plenty of room for improvement. Either my shots are over-exposed (hey! it was a sunny day!) or the wind caught the quilt at the most inopportune time. :-/ But! I met 2 wonderful fellow bloggers and quilters! And I was thrilled to be able to connect with them when you think about all the people who were there, it was amazing we found each other! :-)

As soon as the bus arrived, Margie from 'Threading My Needles' called. (I had given her my cell phone number hoping we could meet) I first met Margie on the HGTV quilting forum. She joined in a few of my swaps and we've chatted thru email. It was wonderful to meet in 'real life'. Margie's DD took our photo, so hopefully it turned out ok and I can get a copy from her. If not~ I have a great memory! Well, maybe not great, or maybe not for all things (rolling my eyes here LOL), but I don't forget friends! ;-)) Thanks Margie! :-)

Next, I knew Cindy, from 'Sew Cindy' was there. We'd chatted by email too. We played phone tag for a bit, but finally met and had lunch together with my friend Karen from 'Briarside Lane' and her DD. We just chatted away like old friends! It was wonderful! And my sweet Charming Sister Cindy, had brought along a treat for me! She decorated the cute gift bag using her new GO! cutter, and look at all she put into it!~ A wonderful tea towel that she made, a kit~ (I love apples! Did she know that?), a FQ that I plan to add to my DJ quilt blocks, and a pen. Ok, I kinda swiped the pen :-o She said it was from her favorite quilt shop, and I needed to remember the name so I could look it up in my magazine. (no I didn't really swipe it, she gave it to me ;-) really! LOL) It was a featured shop in the Quilt Shops magazine in 2009~ The Old World Quilt Shoppe. Pretty cool, huh? :-)) Thank you Cindy!! :-)
That's all for tonight. I am still getting back into the swing of things here. Tomorrow I will post my Charming Girls Quilt Club goals for the next two months~ they might surprise you! ;-) Until then~
Happy stitchin'!

I'm So Excited!

♪♫ ♪♫ ...and I just can't hide it! :-)) ♪♫ ♪♫

Kim of Bitty Bits and Pieces made a beautiful crochet clutch for the Moda Bake Shop and she had a giveaway a few months ago. I was the lucky giveaway winner and look what arrived today!!!

I had to take a photo of how it was wrapped~ love that wrapping paper! And her cute little tag and card. Love it! :-)
And inside~ my own crochet clutch!! It is just wonderful! :-)

And she included a soft handled hook for me! How fun!

I think you can click the photo's for bigger views~

Thank you so much Kim!! :-)

Monday~ Monday

My design wall is empty. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I've not been a slug~ just can't tell y'all what I've been doing... yet. ;-)
The only sewing I did was to get the binding on this beauty. The blocks came from a swap I participated in on HGTV. I made 3 quilts from that swap, the others I think I've shown y'all before. I designed my layout for this one in EQ6 (or maybe it was EQ5) 4 or 5 years ago and put the top together. My big idea was to hand quilt it. Well, life intervened and I only took about a dozen stitches in it. ;-) So when my Mom mentioned that her quilt group would do it, I quickly ripped out my stitches and sent it off to her to have it hand quilted by her & her friends. :-)) I got it back last week. They did a wonderful job quilting it! I got the binding on as fast as I could and washed it today.

I'm planning on taking it with me when I go to Portland later this week to meet up with some of my HGTV friends for a little retreat. We are going to the Outdoor Quilt Show at Sisters on Saturday. I'm really getting excited~ but have much to do before I leave! So I'll be on a blog break until sometime next week. Don't have too much fun without me! LOL ;-)

Until then~
Happy stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
