Switched Gears.. Again!

Well, you know the saying 'so much to do, sew little time'? I keep jumping between projects, trying to do a bit on each and hopefully get them all done. :-) I made my paper-pieced Carol Doak Sweden Stars and even pulled the papers. Then I switched to cutting up a pile of denim for raggy quilts. I need to make 3 in the coming months. They are my favorite High School graduation gift. ;-) And in between I've been working on Honeyberries (yes, that is the name of the pattern :-) ). I know a post is boring without a little eye candy and I'm sure you don't want to see a pile of denim, so here are my Sweden Stars from Carol Doak's Mariner's Compass Stars book... Have a happy day! :-)

A good day... :-)

I changed gears today and worked on Honeyberries. I have all my strip sets (100 of them!) together and started pinning them for the next step. And I ran out of pins! Doesn't my little hen look so sad without her feathers? After finding more, I have them all pinned and ready to sew tomorrow. I also trimmed up a few paper-pieced blocks. And the best news? No ripping!! Whoohoo!!! :-))

Ugh! What a day!

...and not in a good way! :-( I didn't accomplish anything today except for a little dulling of the ol' ripper! It seems everything I touched wanted to misbehave and I ended up ripping and ripping until I finally just gave up. Seriously, how much ripping should you do before you realize it isn't going to be a good sewing day? Well, I did 3 times that and then called it quits. I'm going to try again tomorrow....

Quiltathon!

Tomorrow Judy is having another Quiltathon day. This time I am ready! Dinner is planned, fabric is cut. I hope to make 6 more of this paper-pieced block. I am slow at paper-piecing, so I think 6 will be a big enough challenge. If I should happen to find myself with more time on my hands? Well, I think I have plenty of other projects I can hop to. ;-) Will you be sewing?

Would you like to win a quilt?

Then hurry on over to the Old Red Barn Co. blog and post a comment!
Good luck! :-)

Progress..

I'm making a little progress in my sewing room.

I've completed 6 Honeyberries blocks. :-) I need to cut a little more tan before I do anymore so that it gets mixed in with the other blocks. I don't want one section to look 'different' from the rest.

One of my girlfriends has gotten me interested in the history of the Lone Eagle airplane block and we've both been doing a bit of research. I just had to try making a block too. I need to applique the propellers on, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Wouldn't a 2 color quilt look neat in airplanes?

And I'm continuing on paper-piecing stars. It is slow-going for me. I'm not a fast paper-piecer but I do love the results. I've just finished printing off 6 more blocks. Then I'm going to need a sanity check! :-)

Have a happy Friday!

Busy Sunday

Oh I love to sew!

Last week I spent a lot of time cutting. And today I got to sew!

First I cut out "Shakespeare in the Park' by Judy Martin from her 'The Creative Pattern Book'. Evelyn has this quilt in her header, and I have loved it and longed for my own for a long time. Mine is going to be in reds and creams. I won't start sewing on it right away, but I have it all ready to go. I am storing the parts in a tote that is meant for scrapbookers, but works equally well for cut out quilts. :-)

I also worked on Honeyberries a bit this weekend. It is going together very nicely. I do need to cut some more creams though as I want to make it bigger than the directions in the book.

It's been a great weekend for sewing! :-)

Mini 9-Patches

Aren't they cute?? It is hard to believe there are 120 3-inch blocks pictured here! Bingo-Bonnie is hosting a quarterly swap and I just couldn't not participate! :-) It will be a lot of fun finding projects for these cuties! Maybe I should have made a few more... :-))

Great site!

Sorry no photo's just yet, but I have been busy!

Steph was so sweet to offer to help me with my Quiltathon button, and I emailed her about linking. She shared a website with me that had a link to Magic With Blogs. What a great place to learn!! Thank you Steph, twice!!!!

Now I'm off to work, so I'll have some photo's soon!
Happy Stitchin'!

Progress made...

What a great day! First I sewed together 3 blocks I made for a friend who is making quilts for 3 gals who lost their mother to cancer.

Than I cut out all the pieces for a dozen more paper pieced stars and sewed for a little while before family obligations took me away. ;-)

When I came back to my sewing room, I ironed... forever! I have been collecting FQ's and stash for 2 quilts on my to-do list. It was wonderful to have this 'excuse' to get to them! First I want to make the 'Honeyberries' quilt on the cover of Evelyn Sloppy's book, 40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts in blues like she did. I cut a pretty big stack and only have a few more blues to cut up. I also have wanted to make a 'Shakespeare in the Park' (Judy Martin) for ever! Evelyn at Starfishy has a gorgeous one in her header. I have all the FQ's ironed and ready to go and will cut them up tomorrow. Wow, it feels so good to have this start on these quilts. :-) Thanks Judy!!!

It's Quiltathon!

Whoohoo! :-)
JudyL had a great idea to get everyone sewing/quilting this weekend. You can check it out from the Quiltathon button (thanks Judy!). I had errands and family stuff that kept me out of my sewing room yesterday, but today I'm going to sew! Lots to do and I'll be back this evening with photos... I'll continue my 'weekend' tomorrow to make up for missing yesterday.... ;-)
Happy sewing!

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
