Thimbleberries Sew Day Update...

I managed to sneak in a bit of time at the machine this morning and got a few blocks together. I need to cut bricks for all those 4 patches now. ;-) I am doing this pattern from Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville. I'm not sure how much more time I will have to work today, but I'm off to cut!~

Hope you are finding time to sew today too!
Happy Stitchin'! :-)

Thimbleberries Sew Day!

I almost forgot!! :-o

I have a mess to clean up in my basement this morning, but then I hope to do some sewing~
Is anyone going to be joining me??

Happy Stitching! ;-)

Sewing Sundresses~

Yes, while DD was home for Spring Break she bartered her way into me sewing 2 sundresses for her! LOL I think I got the short end of that straw! ;-) Lucky for me, it was pretty simple sewing, especially since I hadn't sewn any clothes in ages! :-o Both are backless ~that's why they seem to hang below the hangers funny. The zippers were a little bit of a pain, but not too bad. ;-) I was sewing the last hook & eye on as she was headed out the door. LOL :-) The one has a bubble ruffle at the bottom~ it is really cute on her, sorry I can't show you that photo. I just have the tote to finish up now, but that is going to take me a little while as DS is on Spring Break this week! no rest for me! LOL :-)And yesterday's mail brought this wonderful giveaway win from Trish at All Things Crafty. Remember when I had such a hard time finding a Jelly Roll to use for the Jelly Roll Quilt Along? Now I have 2! I am just giddy with excitement! I don't know which to use first~ or for what?! ;-) Thank you so much Trish!!

Design Wall Monday

Happy Monday! My design wall has my 4 Dear Jane blocks on it, plus the boo-boo block that I can't decide what to do with. ;-) Angela has chosen more blocks for this week, which I have printed off and am ready to tackle. AArrgghhh~ blogger won't add this photo~ it says 'done' but nothing is there! I'll try again later. Sorry :-/ Whoohoo! Got it! ;-)
My table is a whole 'nother story! :-) LOL DD saw the Amy Butler Sweet Harmony pattern and fell in love with the tote~ she helped cut it out, until she had to leave, so this is what I was left with! :-o I am in the process of pressing all the stabilizers to the fabrics... there is a lot of pressing involved! ;-) Hopefully I can get to it today.
What are you working on? Check out the links on Judy L's blog for lots of design wall inspiration!

Until next time~

CG&GQC March Finishes & Tag

Where did March go? I think I blinked once. :-o I didn't do too bad with my goals~ I knew this was going to be a crazy month with DD home and spring break and in the following days I will show you all I did that weren't goals! :-)

1. My first goal was to finish the sheet top~ it's all together and waiting to be quilted.... it may be a while as April is going to be a pretty crazy month and I don't think I'll be able to sneak away to quilt.2. Next up was this month's Schnibble~ Roundabout. I just finished the top last week. ;-)
3. To work on finishing up the HGTV BOM blocks for the year~ nope, didn't happen. I am a little further along, but this one is going to have to carry over into next month. If it was only a matter of making the 12 inch blocks, I would be ready, but the little 4 inch blocks are a bit more time consuming than I thought. LOL ;-)

4. The on-going blocks~~ I did finish all the blocks for the next (and last) exchange of blocks with Bingo Bonnie. :-)) And I got 6 more Piece & Goodwill blocks together. And I am up to date with the blocks for the Jelly Roll Quilt Along. Whoohoo!

And then I went and started Dear Jane blocks! :-o 4 down/a million to go! LOL :-)
Now for the joke we were tagged with this month.... DS is my joke teller and I was sure I could get one out of him~ but I didn't! :-o I hardly saw him all month. :-o So I'll tell you a funny story instead. While sewing with DD last week we recalled another sewing session~ we were on summer vacation at my parent's and DD was 4 or 5 yrs old. Mom & I were making Barbie clothes for the girl cousins. DD came in to see what we were doing, eyed my Mom's pincushion (where she kept a huge pearl topped corsage pin). I was working at the table with my back turned to them and DD quickly nipped the pin, turned and stuck me in the rear! :-o I yelped! She was so shocked she stood there with this big look of surprise on her face and of course then my Mom & I giggled til we cried. DD had been watching too many cartoons and kept saying, 'I didn't think it was going to hurt!' Which made us laugh all the harder. :-) I teased her about it this week and she still says~ 'I didn't know it was going to hurt!' LOL :-)) She never did tell what she thought was going to happen. ;-) Silly kids.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

A Sunshine Day!

I was recently awarded this Blogger's Sunshine Award from Thearica at Pigtales & Quilts. I've known Thearica for years, but we have never met in person~ and have only talked on the telephone once~ ever! :-) We participated in swaps together on the HGTV quilters board, and then we hosted swaps. She got a longarm machine a few years ago and does amazing quilting.

There is a quote with the award~ "Bloggers who inspire others with their positivity and creativity". I'm not sure about that part but, I do live with my glass half full! ;-) Thank you Thearica!

The rules of the award go like this~

1. Put the logo on your blog or within your post.

2. Pass the award to 12 bloggers.

3. Link the nominees within your post.

4. Let them know they received this award by commenting on their blog.

5. Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award.

The hardest part is choosing 12! There are way too many blogs I love and people I have met and am still getting to know! But here is my list~

1. My Mom at Granny Quilts~ she gave me the scraps and pattern for my very first quilt. :-) She's made many quilts and hand quilted a few for me. She gives me the push I need when I'm stuck and we have great fun shopping when together. ;-) I pushed back a little and recently she started blogging. ;-) Love you Mom! :-)

2. My friend Brenda at Brenda's Piece. We've been friends for years too, though we have never met, we plan to! Brenda makes gorgeous quilts and inspires me with her enthusiasm. Oh, and I talked her into starting a blog too. :-o LOL

3. Karen at Living Life at LeeHaven. Another friend I have never met~ she found me in blogland and I'm so glad she did! :-) A gorgeous hand-piecer who always looks on the bright side and shares my sense of humor. :-) Her eye for color is amazing too.

4. Karen at Log Cabin Quilter. I love her style! We've been friends since I started blogging. We both love CW fabrics. And she is an amazing appliquer too. :-)

5. Cindy at Sew Cindy. Cindy does beautiful work and is a fellow Schnibbler & Charming Guys & Girls Club member... we love our goal setting! :-) We've discovered we have a lot in common too.

6 & 7 Joan at Ouvrages d'une Acadienne and Kelly at Charming Chatter~ our 'charming' co-leaders. We've had so much fun with Sew Days and goals and they manage to keep it all organized-- and still make beautiful quilts!! :-) They are both very special and I'm so happy to have met them in blogland!

8. Barb at Bejeweled Quilts By Barb. We share a love of Thimbleberries. :-) And she amazes me at all she gets done in a day. She is very inspiring!

9. Angela at Country Scrap Quilts~ she also amazes me at all she gets done ~and with a young family to keep up with! We are embarking on a Dear Jane journey and I am looking forward to getting to know her even better as we go along. ;-)

10. Myra at Tactile Pleasures in Fabric. Myra found me when I first started blogging. She does such beautiful work and is so upbeat and encouraging. I love visiting with her! :-)

11. Mary at Needled Mom. She found me when I first started blogging too. She makes beautiful quilts and Schnibbles too. :-) It is always fun to read her blog~ she is very busy and I feel like I've gone on her trips with her. :-)

12. Oh man~ the last one already! I have too many more I would like to mention!! :-o
Sherri at A Quilting Life and Sinta at Pink Pincushion for leading the Schnibbler's. They both make amazing quilts~ and are very organized co-leaders! They both inspire me! ~~Sherri's speed and her fabric selections; and Sinta's love of vintage textiles~ both equally wonderful! ;-)

I need one more!~ 13.~ :-) This one is for all my loyal followers~ you know who you are! I love your comments, you keep me motivated and eager to come back and share my projects with you! Please, consider yourselves awarded! :-)

Have a happy day! And until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

A New Schnibble Over Here!

Roundabout is finished! Well, it is as far as it will get until I can go quilting. ;-) I used a roll of Thimbleberries fabrics called 'A Gardeners Touch' and Kona~ I think it was called 'bone'. :-/ I am going to have to start paying more attention to the Kona colors. ;-)

Hope you had a good day!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Block Gone Awry!

Yep, that A-1 'Pinwheel Gone Awry'~ went! :-) I didn't print out the diagram the first time, and that is why the top block is wrong! :-o Rather than rip, I just re-did it. I wasn't very happy with the contrast the first time around, so re-doing was in the plan anyway. ;-) These little Dear Jane blocks are very addictive! :-)

I love using Triangulations for those tiny HST's!

And while the CW fabrics were out, I did block 2 of the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along (see side bar link).
A good morning's work! :-)
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

What's on Your Design Wall?

Monday's design wall has my first 2 blocks on my Dear Jane journey. :-) I am tagging along with Angela as she works on 2 sets of blocks. This week's blocks are K-9 Scouts Honor and J-8 Anna's Anchor. The teeny applique almost had me running in the opposite direction, but I stuck with it and am pretty happy with the block, I'll just have to be careful when sewing the quilt together~ but I have a few years before that point! LOL :-) I'm using my CW stash and instead of a dedicated background fabric, just using the lights in my collection. ;-) I am little behind~ already! :-o~ I have 2 more blocks to work on this week. Ever thought about starting a DJ? Have the book or CD but haven't jumped in yet? C'mon and join us! :-)
And just for fun, I added my little purses to the photo. The tutorial can be found on Quiltsalott's blog. They were fun and easy!~ even the hand sewing! ;-) DD is already counting on the green zippered one to go back to school with her. LOL ;-)

What are you working on? For lots of inspiration check out Judy L's blog where she has a list of quilter's all over blogland and what they are working on. :-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Happy Friday!

I don't usually post on Friday's~ the weekend is starting, the busyness starts, but today is an exception! :-) Thank you for all your lovely comments on my Vintage Sheet top! :-) I'm sorry I couldn't get better photo's~ I think they would involve ladders~ LOL :-))

Angela asked to see what I plan to use for binding~ since that was the reason for using the pink and the green around some of the diamonds. The stripe fabric along the side will be the binding~ bias cut so the stripes are diagonal. ;-) I can hardly stand waiting to go rent the LA to get this baby quilted! ;-)
And speaking of Angela~ I'm about to embark on an adventure with her. :-) She has started a Dear Jane blog and I'm going to try to follow along with her. :-) I'm getting excited!~ I have been wanting to make DJ blocks and have been 'stock-piling' *LOL* ;-) 1800 repro's for it. Want to join us?? ;-)) Stop over and say hi! :-) She is going to be making 2 sets of blocks and has picked some great fabrics!

That's all for now~
Have a great weekend!
And until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Whoohoo!!

First let me just say, thank you! to all of you who went and wished my Mom a happy birthday yesterday~ she was so surprised! :-)) It isn't very often I can actually surprise her, so double thanks!! ;-)) LOL

And why am I whooping it up here? It's off of the floor!~ I mean 'design wall'. ;-) Whoohoo! my vintage sheets are now a quilt top! I'm not sure when I'll be able to get it quilted, but hopefully in the next few months. :-) If you just found found me~ my collection started with a vintage sheet swap last year. I drew up the pattern in EQ6 but could not figure out how to make a setting with sashings, but not cornerstones~ so I mostly just flew by the seat of my pants. :-o ;-)) I added in the green and pink sashings because I have the cutest pink, green and white stripe for bias binding. ;-) The sashing fabrics actually have tiny polka dots in them. :-) My photo really doesn't do the top justice... I had to take it in the shade, because in the sun the white was too washed out. The colors of the sheets are pretty true, but the white needs to be white. ;-) I tried to lighten it in my photo program in the bottom photo. I think they are clickable for a larger image.

sigh~ I'm really happy to have this one together. It is a biggie~ 91 x 102. :-) I think I am going to use some of the leftover triangles for pillow shams... we'll see how that goes. ;-)

Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!!

Would You Do Me A Small Favor?

Today is my Mom's birthday~ would you pop over to her blog and wish her a happy day?
I'd love for her to be flooded with comments! :-)) Thanks!

I got some real happy mail yesterday~
I won a giveaway at Jeanne's blog! ~ All Things Quilty The fabrics just sing spring to me! :-))

Don't you love how she tied them together? She is very artistic in her quilting too~ I love looking at the quilts she posts! I plan to take a piece of the green and use it in my Piece & Goodwill blocks because when they grow up to be a quilt, I am renaming it~ 'With a Little Help From My Friends', because so many of my friends sent me green scraps when I found myself so short. :-)

Hope you have a happy day!
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Design Wall Monday~

After finishing up all the blocks I did last week, my design wall is a little bare today. :-o

I cut into that Thimbleberries roll in my last post and got the units made for this month's Schnibbles~ Roundabout. :-) I am really liking these blocks! I hope to get to block construction today~

What are you working on? Jump on over to Judy L's blog and check out all the inspiring projects in blogland!

Until next time~

Fun Times!

Can you guess what this roll of springy goodness is going to grow up to be?

I happened past a quilt shop this morning, and just had to stop in. ;-) Oh-oh~ its been opened!! :-))

Hey~ I could have bought a cheesecake! This is so much better for my health. ;-)

Off to play!
Have a great day!! :-)

I Love Goals!

They keep me grounded, ...focused, and I love results! :-) LOL It's one of the reasons I love being part of the CG&GQC so much~ we make goals at the beginning of the month and then see how we did at the end of the month... sounds pretty simple right? But without those goals, I sometimes find myself at odds~ 'which project should I work on today?' ;-) With my goals, I know which project to work on! Call me crazy, but it works for me! LOL :-)

Yesterday I got my next 6 Piece and Goodwill blocks together. I'll need to cut more pieces before I can work on any more. My goal was to do 3 a month, but I'm trying to work ahead a bit because when the weather gets nicer, I will get a lot busier. ;-)
**blogger flipped them. :-/ Sorry.

I hope you are reaching some of your quilting goals this week~
Until next time~
Happy Stitchin'!

Finished!

All 32 of them!! :-)

For anyone just stopping by~ I am exchanging these blocks with Bingo~Bonnie. We have been working on them for the past year. We make 2 of each block~ one to keep, one to trade. Our final exchange will be for 16 blocks. The pattern is from Quilter's Cache by Marcia Hohn. It's called My Blue Heaven. We did scale it back to a little smaller block. We chose to use all scrappy fabrics for the small HST's and blues for the larger one. I'm not sure when we will mail the final sets, but I am looking forward to this quilt! :-)

I think, once the quilt is all together, I am going to have to count the HST's in it~ I think I will be amazed! ;-)

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!!

Design Wall Monday & We Have a Winner!

I did not accomplish much over the weekend~ too many things pulling me in other directions. But its a new week and hope springs! :-))

I did finish this little hand towel~ it's an Aunt Martha pattern and has other herbs to stitch too. I think I might get hooked on towel stitching~ fast, fun, useful~ what's not to like? :-)

To be inspired by beautiful quilts, blocks, and other fun design walls check out Judy L's blog. ;-)

I know, you want to know who won my little giveaway~
DS drew a name before heading out to school this AM~

Congratulations Karen! I'll be sending you an email for your address. :-)

Thanks, everyone, for all your wonderful comments on my last post!~ I usually don't mess up counting so badly. Oh well, I did finish the HST's and am off to work on blocks! ;-)

Have a great week and until next time..
Happy stitchin'!!

Friday, 'Operator Error', and...

Friday already! This week went too fast!~ too bad we can't have do-overs. ;-) LOL

I'll bet you are wondering about that 'operator error'~ yeah, that would be me. ;-) I thought I had all the HST's done for my last exchange of blocks with Bonnie (see this post)... until I laid everything out and counted yesterday! I had in my head that we needed to do 16 and 16 stuck... I even made more HST's so I'd have plenty to choose from. Well, I should've had 32 stuck in my head, because we are making doubles of all the blocks~ one to give, one to keep. So in reality, I have enough for 8 sets of blocks. :-/ Some real 'fuzzy math' on my part! So back to the scraps! ;-))

While I was out last Friday I picked up this cute panel~

Actually I picked up 2! :-) And this book has lots of cute ideas and fun things to make quickly and easily.

So how about a giveaway?! ~ just leave me a comment for a chance. No need to sign on to follow me (unless you want to remember to come back to see who wins) ;-) and no need to post about it. I really appreciate all of you stopping by and visiting with me and I would like to treat each of you, but since I can't do that, we'll just keep it our little giveaway, ok? I'll draw on Monday and let you know where it will be headed. Good luck! :-)

Now off to stitch more HST's!
Have a happy day and until next time~
Happy stitching!

Wednesday Already!

This week is just flying for me! Do you feel the same way? I did manage to accomplish a few things and have high hopes to get more sewing time today. :-)

This is the first block in the Jelly Roll Quilt Along at Moose on the Porch Quilts. Since I couldn't find a Jelly Roll that wasn't fuzzy and falling apart on my outing last week, I decided to cut into my CW stash. ;-) Maybe it was a good thing those Jelly Rolls were in such bad shape~ LOL :-)

And during the Olympics, I stitched. :-) Here are two of the blocks in the Nice People, Nice Things pattern set by Helen at Hugs 'n Kisses. hmmm~ the link won't show up. Guess you will have to copy and paste it in your browser. ~ http://www.hugsnkisses.typepad.com/ I don't know why blogger doesn't like the link. :-/ I love the little blocks! ;-) I'm not sure if I am going to make all the blocks for the quilt~ I'm having fun just choosing favorites now. ;-)

That's all from me~
Hope you have a great day and until next time~
Happy Stitching!! :-)

CG&GQC March Goals

Another month~ another list of goals... :-) Hope will spring eternal this month! LOL :-))

1. Absolutely must finish this quilt top so it can come up off of the floor! ;-)

2. This month's Schnibbles. Sorry I don't have a photo~ I need to get the pattern and figure out the fabric first. ;-)

3. My HGTV BOM~ this is the photo of the blocks for this month. I'd really like to finish up all the blocks for the year and get the mini's figured out. You won't be able to see them until they are revealed each month, but it would be a huge weight off of my shoulders to have them ready to go.

4. My on-going projects....
Piece & Goodwill needs 3 or more blocks added this month~

My exchange of MyBlueHeaven blocks with Bingo~Bonnie~ I need to work on more blocks now.

The Quilt Along at Moose on the Porch Quilts... I haven't made block one yet and block two will be out in 2 weeks. :-o

Hmmm, I hope I haven't forgotten anything. I think I have plenty to keep me busy! :-)

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!

Monday, March 1, 2010

Design Wall Monday~

Today's design wall is my large ironing board. I pulled it out to press the rows for the Vintage Sheet quilt, so thought I'd just pin up my BOM blocks. :-)

I am helping with this BOM on the HGTV quilter's message board. We are using traditional star blocks and then also making a 4 inch mini version. My job is to figure out the cutting sizes for the mini and make one. :-o (what did I get myself into?!!?) Pictured are the January, February, & March blocks. For the March mini I didn't think too many would want to try it, so I made 3 versions. There are 65 pieces in this block! :-o Now you know why I am called 'crazy'! LOL :-))

To see more great design walls visit Judy L's Patchwork Times blog. You will be inspired! :-)

Until next time~
Happy stitchin'!!

B-r-r-r-r

Who knew that having a Halloween Hop last week would bring the chilly weather?! We had rain, wind--- the power even went out for a few hours...
