Lux Helsinki

One of my favorite events in town is Lux Helsinki in January.
It's dark pretty much night and day, but for a few days you get glorious light installations.

In the past years it had been scattered here and there, but this year there was a route.
It was quite chilly. And snowing. Also, way too many people.
Lesson learned, next year I'll go on the Thursday right after work :)

I'll let the photos speak.

This installation suffered from the crowds, people kept blocking the lights that shone on the wire people.

Pill city.
Can you see what it's made of?
As this park is an old cemetery, I found this exit sign quite funny.

January

My blog went on hibernation there for a bit, but just like the bears at the zoo, we're up and geared for spring now.
I never finished last year's monthly recaps.. shame on me.. Makes no sense to go back so onwards and upwards, right?
Just a quick look at January, ok?

I geeked out at the movie theater with a fellow Sherlock (read Benedict Cumberbatch) lover.
Fabulous watching it on the big screen. Well worth dishing out money and seeing it a week before it was on tv. I know.. it made complete sense to us, though.

It got super cold for a few days, this much skin out was way too much.

But the sun was out for a bit. It's been a very grey winter.
It does get to you. Even if I am eating vitamin D.

That moment when you are 7739 kilometers too far to give a hug or a hundred...
I was on being kept up to date all through the night as my niece went into labor five weeks early.
The sweet little one was born with gastroschisis. Two successful surgeries later she is home and doing great.
This great-auntie got out her knitting needles and the softest yarn.

Yes, the tulip season is back!

Have you ever tried a Lamington?
Thanks to Australia day and a sweet colleague I got to try it.
I have a feeling that I'll be baking these for Niina's confirmation party this summer.

Yes, She's 15 now!
Best news this year came on a note from the school nurse. It said her growth has slowed down. She's at 171cm right now. The last 18 months has had me pulling out my hair as she out grew her new clothes in a matter of weeks...
And no, she won't agree to a photo.
Ugh.
*grin*
