The weather outside is frightful...

..it's raining...bah..
Hard to imagine that exactly a week ago we had the biggest blizzard in 50 years. I'd take the snow anyday.
Not much left of it.. sigh.

But the glow inside is delightful :)

The girls' and mine advent calendars are all set up. The girls will be getting surprises in the boxes while I have not one but two sets of miniature packages filled with miniatures.

Oooohhh.. the anticipation...

Gosh it's pretty...

We got a bit more snow overnight.
This is at 9am this morning.

I did bake last night...
Sooo good.

There are two left :)

Obviously the kids are still sick.
And Niina is still running a temp, so I'll be home tomorrow too.

My week

* It was busy. And eventful.

* On Tuesday I came home and there was no water coming out of the tap... sooo how am I now going to make spaghetti?? There was a leak in the water main a block away. Luckily the water came back in just 30 minutes and dinner plans didn't have to altered.

* On Wednesday I came home and wondered to the girls why they were digging a hole in front of our house. Got inside and guess what?

Oh yes.
No water.

Another leak, this time right in front of our house. The water had been turned off just 30 minutes earlier. We needed to go to our miniature club meeting and dinner had to be served now. Great. Off to the store for lots of water (seeing as the water had been turned off for 6 hours the previous day) and microwaveable food.
When we got back at 8pm this was still going on:

OK, so it's a lousy pic in the dark through the window, but there are diggers there ;)
We got water after 10pm.

* If you ask me, I'll take no electricity over no water any day. Makes it a challenge when you can't even flush... eeewww...

* I've received not one but two miniature/dollhouse themed advent calendars!

I have itchy fingers...

*There was nightschool again this week... I srtill haven't done my psychology paper.. putting it off.. blech.

* Saturday evening I made a quick stop to the tropics.
It was our staff Christmas party and the school gym had been transformed with palm trees, bambu fencing, garden tables and chairs, parasols, and naturally a bar ;)
The food was incredible, there was a fabulous band, a funny stand-up comedian and a couple of bartenders right our of the movie "Cocktail".. they were pretty inpressive with all that juggling.
Fun night.

* Except for the bit when my neighbor called to tell me the city water peeps had been checking that same pipe in front of our houses.. it is still leaking.

* I left early enough, I was home by midnight, because on Sunday morning I had to be downtown for a miniature market.
Here's my table set up.

Small table, crammed full.. It was fun. Met some great people and chatted with friends. And found a few treasures as well...

* Mika picked us up because of this:

White-out.
Blizzard.

Really poor visibility.

I had no view out of my livingroom windows either.

* Looks like summer is over...

*Can you see I put my Christmas lights up outside?
On Saturday, before the snow.
Good timing.

* Hey, we have SNOW!!! Pretty pretty snow.

* It's apparently so cold that polarbears and pandas in igloos (I have no idea, don't ask..) have moved inside :)

* I'm home with TWO sick kids today. And will be tomorrow also. Niina has a tendency for really high temps, poor kiddo is wiped out. Saara is so congested, I can't send her to school. I won't be the mom who lets her kids make everyone else sick.
They spent the morning in our bed.

* I'm baking bread. Snowy days make me want to bake...

*No diggers around, yet.
Frantically washing laundry. For once wishing I had a dryer...

* I should be making dinner and shoveling snow... hmmm.. the snow just might win and dinner will have to wait for a bit.

* Did I mention I love the snow?

Saturday bowling fun

..not to mention blacklight photography fun :)

Oh look.. a see-through ball... I need a camera with 3600 ISO..sigh..

Although I still love this shot.

The balls were a bit too heavy for Niina, so Saara helped her.

I really didn't throw well at all...

The ball kept drifting left and ended up in the gutter most times..

...I think one of these might have helped.. but it was family time so I sucked it up and enjoyed the bad game, heh.

Final scores.

I need some practice..man oh man...

I bet you're wondering..

..have I been scrapping at all in the past few months?
Some, yes.
I also have a pile of pages waiting for the journaling.
I'm like that.. that is the last thing and it can take a long time.

If you've been sharp eyed you'll have seen these pages either at the AMLT gallery and blog, or the Finnish inspiration blog. Or on that sidebar of mine :)
If not, well here you are.

We'll start with some travel pages (I still have a lot to scrap, I took 900+ photos...)

*St. Paul's*

The title is made with throwing together a mixed array of white sticker letters and adding dimensional glue on them.
Got to use some old Foofala paper on this one.

*London*

Tricky to scan as the felt pocket is lumpy. Plus I added chipboard letters on top of it, heh.

*Wedding Crashers*

We drove our bus through a fabulous wedding party on the street.

*Henry VIII*

We learnt a little rhyme about Henry's wives :)
The dimensional glue came out again, this time I added some tiny no-hole beads too.

*Books*

I so love English bookstores...
This is the children's section in one Oxford bookstore.

*Stripey socks*

Color explosion...

*Smile, please?*

She went through a no smiling phase.
But I just had to get photos of that pretty dress!
This page was a monochromatic challenge on AMLT.

*Positive*

She LOOOOOVES school!

*The hat*

Man is it hard to scan a black page... the scanner picks up every fingerprint..
Sorry about that.
This was a fun page to make.
I'm starting to like these wallet sized photos.

*At the market*

Selling my handmade miniatures this past summer for the first time.
I'm hooked.

I added some iridescent glitter in between those Heidi Swapp jewels. I highly recommend you to buy the pretty Doodlebug glitter bottles in every color. You cannot have enough glitter. Ever.
Besides, they are so pretty to look at...

Came across my old 7G metal arrows :)

I might just scrap a couple pages today too..
If I have time.
I'm going on my walk first (it's a cooooolllddd morning, I've been putting it off by writing this), then I want to go to the mall and check out the Christmas stuff (yes it's time) and finally drop by my sister-in-law to see all the baby clothes she bought from England.
Off to dig out my gloves...
