A little Friday mayhem and Sunday sewing...

Her favorite red squirrel hat.. a very long scarf..outdoor pants and jacket and a dress...
High fashion.
*grin*
I only now noticed she's not wearing gloves...hmmm...
Must have been warm in the sun.

The girls decided that since the sun had melted the other side of the igloo completely, it was time to knock it over properly.

So they called in the neighbor girl to help and got out the broom and rakes.
And started banging...

And down it went.
The second I turned my head...

Hurray!
Let there be spring!

This is an Easter egg I needlefelted for my friend. We were at their daughter's b-day party on Saturday.
We drove through a blizzard...
Oh yes.. it's spring on the 60th latitude alright... ;)

Which is why on Sunday I got out this pile:

Just to brighten the snowy day.
And to give my sewing machine some work.

It turned into a cute skirt.

My model would not smile, but she did twirl.

I followed this tutorial to make it.
This week the forecast tells me the sun will be out and melting that blasted white stuff.
Good riddance, I say.
Bring on dry sidewalks, crocuses and sunglasses!

Kiddie crafts

..or what fun the kids at the school afternoon club have crafted.

We started the school year by recycling babyfood jars into pets :)

I really liked the Pokemon.

And the cuter than cute frog!

The Moms were delighted to hear that for Father's Day the kids were doing aprons. The designs were stamped with carrots.

As Christmas presents we got out the glass mosaic pieces and let the kids go to town.

We also made Christmas trees from kitchen paper rolls.

In January we had a magnetic aquarium on the wall, made from egg cartons.

A sequined octopus :D

This shark was into piercing....

Took out fabric pens and the girls really enjoyed designing their own pencil cases.

Wooden room signs decorated with felt.

The past two weeks we've been needlefelting big styrofoam eggs for Easter (the one with a blooming tree is mine).

I think they look awesome!

Just don't ask me how many needles they have managed to break...sigh....

On a Tuesday afternoon...

I'm home giving my very sore foot a rest. Saw the doctor yesterday and he gave me a week's worth of painkillers, liniment and told me to move my nordic walking route off asphalt. Oh, and to buy Crocs for summer.
My right heel has been really painful for a few weeks now.
But Crocs.. oh my.. the ugliest shoes ever.. are there even any cute Crocs out there?
..sigh... I better go check out the Crocs store at the mall...

Took out my camera and played a bit.
Found some pretty colored matches..

And then there's this furry guy :D

He doesn't have a name yet, but he looks like he needs a name beginning with W.
I've made him in my night school classes while talking about important stuff. We all made bears. He is entirely hand-stitched from mohair.

Hubby's "light" reading...

Now this is a cool cookbook.

It's categorized by color.
Ingenious.
You know, for the days you want to cook something orange and bake something pink :)

I've taken out my knitting project too.

I hope to finish the sweater soon..ish...

I have been working on those miniature hydrangeas for the summer's market.

All ten hues.. pretty...

The grass has grown too.

Quite a bit in just a few days.

I'm off to take a shower and bake something with blueberries.. and maybe raspberries too if I have any in the freezer.
And then to night school class... about music & play with kids.. I'll just watch and take notes because there is no way I can work this heel.

Oh sunny day..

..it is warm enough to melt away the white stuff.
Finally.

The igloo is starting to be see-through...

And there is green growing inside :)

I planted easter grass (and barley, it's the stockier one) in old odd coffee cups. Some will stay home and some will spend a working week decorating the teachers' room at school.

This week went by so fast. I was always a day behind.
Or so it seemed.
I managed to finish those plans for my school.
I bought new jeans.
I enjoyed the sunshine (even if the north wind was brutal).
I have a million sewing ideas floating in my head.
I wish I had more time to use on those.
I have a craving for more color. Anywhere basically, heh.

I started with these.

Making miniature hydrangeas.
Now what to do next... laundry.
And then make leaves for those flowers.
And go watch the grass grow :D

Just around the corner..

.. I heard a blackbird sing today!
Spring is here soon :D

Well I simply HAD to use the stencil :D

..what better excuse to sew a bag I ask?
I found the stencil online and since I think this is one of the best Monty Python bits EVER..
If you have never seen The Ministry of Silly Walks, follow the link :D

I added some rainbow colors... all except purple because I had no purple, go figure.

It still needs a clasp of some kind, I'll see if I have time to make one tomorrow.
Tonight I have to come up with a yearly, monthly and daily plans for our afternoon club as homework.
Or at least get one of those done..

It's a rag quilt

Made from soft t-shirt cotton in happy colors.

All that cutting made my hand and wrist hurt...

It has a little padding as the material was really thin.

And as you can see, it's small and sweet.
Just perfect for a baby.
Not too long to wait anymore... my sister-in-law is feeling reeeeaaallly uncomfortable.
Maybe two weeks :D

I did a little renovating..

How does it look?
I'm still having problems adjusting the banner size, anyone know any HTML secrets to alter the template?
Otherwise I've enjoyed my adventures in the HTML land today. There are some great tutorials online :D

Took out my camera and took a few photos of what I loved seeing this afternoon.

Daffodils waiting to burst open in color.

These clawed silver sugargrabbers (not the official name, I know, heh). I got them as a little girl from my great aunt Elsa.

Hot cup of tea in my favorite mug.

I remember reading these as a teenager for the first time.

Little My standing next to my grandmother's Lotta Svärd brooch.

My ryijy.

The bowl and the key.

My green scissors.

I used those with this pile today. Ended up with a really sore hand...
I'll show you tomorrow what it turned into.
