Project Life, weeks six and seven

Week 6:

On top of the photo of Wednesday'a mail is a piece of an envelope I got during the week.

..the date..yes.. that bit was saved as I a couple weeks back I stamped 10 instead of 01.. heh..

Week 7:

In between I added a page protector with that week's Time magazine.. Tunisia, then Egypt and now Libya.. the dominos are falling.

I even put in a Moomin birthday card I got :)

The bowls were a treat for myself, as I discovered a gift card I had forgotten in my wallet!
They come in all sorts of sizes and all sorts of happy colors... I think I'll have to get some more eventually. Love me some colorful baking utensils!

There are new legos in the house :D

So what does happen to a bubble at -20C ?

First you have to carefully catch one... they are really fragile this cold..
Mind you they are really pretty when they burst while you are catching one. They pop into a rain of iridescent shards of ice.

Then you'll notice it forming steam inside and out.

All of a sudden the freezing starts crystallizing it.

Then of course once it's frozen you have to stick it with your finger..

..so it'll "pop" ;)

Cool, isn't it?
(pun intended)
I'm playing some more tomorrow morning!

Mama's got a new toy...

A fish eye adapter...
Neat little gadget.
(photo taken at the school Old's Dance on friday)
More on this later :)

Recent craftiness...

Hearts have been dancing in my window :)

Pages from an old book and some scrapbook paper scraps sewn together, hanging from a curtain rod above the radiator.. dancing in the warm air rising.
Prettiness..

These flowers I made already last year for friends using up Marimekko fabrics.

This week I treated myself to a new keyring for my work keys.

Two scraps of fabric ,from the textile handwork room ;) and some quick handsewing.
Well, I was at work... LOL...My fingers need something to do even when I'm with the kids in the afternoons..

Love it!

A few weeks back I was asked to make a sample decorations for a hat.

Felt, handstitching, beads and sequins... basically what I had close-by.

It's like a icy sparkly winter tree.
What have you been making?

It's been all about friendship

There's been such a lovely air of friendship at work this week :)

I made this tree to remind us...

What has been great fun was a Valentine's secret friend.
Three days of giving and receiving.
Sneaking surprises...
On Monday I gave my friend a green package..

...filled with chocolate hearts and a hair pin.

The pin I made from fabric scraps and a button.

On Tuesday she got more chocolate and a notepad I printed out.

And on Wednesday it was a sweet little origami box with...

...a bracelet I made from glass beads I had hanging around :)

My secret friend gave me some fab pesents too... I'll show you over the weekend!

Project Life, weeks four and five

Week four.. when I was sick.. blech..

I know I've said it before, but I love love love using off old bits and bobs fopr this project!

Week five:

We made badges with the kids, I got one :)

They were also making these bomb thingys from Hama beads (that's Perler beads for you stateside folk). They were appalled to find out I didn't know what they were.. I had to confess to never to have played Mario...

A few of the pics were taken on a mobile phone :)
And I've opted to take the easy way this year.. and not stress about taking a photo every single day. I did that last year and missed about 5 days. But I hated the stress when you realized at bedtime you hadn't taken a photo.. ugghh...
Somehow I don't feel I need that for this project. It has amazibgly released me from stress. I can always use pics from newsfeeds or facebook to fill my weeks.
I'll be working on week six tonight.
And week seven.. that's my birthday week, so I expect to have fun things to include :D
PS. Tawny dear, I'd really love this book.
Just in case you were wondering.. LOL.
Our family portraits were held back due to some delays at the studio but I should get them on week 8. Then I'm mailing your package!
