Easy Christmas

I was forced to take this Christmas easier as I had a bit of a mishap at work... I slipped down a couple steps and landed badly on my ankle, nothing broken luckily, just stretched ligaments.
Painful, though.

I went with the easier plan :)

There was family, great food, lots of presents and plenty of taking it easy!
Brown paper, washi tape and odd ribbons, my easy wrapping style this year.

 This is my favorite ornament.
So fragile and oh so pretty.

Pretty, even out of focus, heh...

I'll tell you more about presents tomorrow!

Last of Emeline's adventures

It took the kids a while to start looking for her every day,
hopefully next year her new adventures will keep us entertained ;)

Porvoo in brisk weather...brrr...

We braved the wind and snow on Sunday to visit the old town of Porvoo.
It is so beautiful this time of year...
I'll let the photos do the talking.

The drive back looked like this..
*grin*

Foxy fox

A while back I ordered a lovely wooden pendant to cross-stitch on from Red Gate Stitchery.
I stitched a fox on it.
Love it.

Emeline the Elf

We've had an elf visiting us at the Afternoon Club.
I'll share her adventures here.
Mind you, I have no idea what she gets up to on weekends and holidays when we are not at school..

(she is our version of Elf on the Shelf... )

She's warm too

I made Niina a pair of wrist warmers.

This morning she found a matching pair for her doll in her advent calendar ;)

Staying warm

The temperatures have plummeted, so I am happy to have finished this.
It keeps me cozy warm.

It was a fun knit, as I got to try something new.. once you reach the middle point and start decreasing stitches, you let go of the purl ones and simply unravel them all the way to the bottom...
It felt so wrong... but turned out beautiful. :)

Pattern, Clapo-Ktus, is free from Ravelry.

Not your ordinary Friday

Our school celebrated Halloween last Friday. It tends to be a wild kind of a day.
To clarify the above... The weather was windy and rainy, I had a sign on our door saying "Well behaved children allowed, the rest will be made into pies" and we had a movie and popcorn :)

Among staff members you could meet a Gypsy, Alice, Dr. Chop, Count Dracula, a monster or two and Mad Hatter.
I turned into the Queen of Hearts.
And got promptly asked by a 2nd grader who  I was going to marry...
Yeah, well.. it must have been the white tulle  :P
