Hello Omer Would help if you tell us what system you were trying to do the building on. thanks. On 14-Jan-2006 omer safa wrote: > checking for sin in -lm... no > configure: error: Can't find libm. checking for sin in -lm... no configure: error: Can't find libm. Please check config.log and if you can't solve the problem send the file to tor...@li... with the subject "torcs compilation problem" thanks |

Hi Jacobo Reveles,
After reading the config.log file, I think the problem is that ./configure
didn't found libXrender.
You can search manually for libXrender ('locate libXrender' or 'su - -c
"updatedb" && locate libXrender' (the last one takes some time)) . If it
doesn't exists, you can try to install libXrender.
If it does exists, the problem can be the search path. It searches for that
file in /usr/X11R6/lib. A couple of libs are found in that directory, but it
could be that libXrender is installed in another directory. If that is the
case, you can try to set the LDFLAGS enviroment variable. Lets assume that
libXrender is in /usr/lib. The LDFLAGS environement variabele should then be
set to " -L/usr/lib ". This can be achieved by the command:
LDFLAGS=" -L/usr/lib " ./configure
Regards,
Mart

Hi Klogus > I'm Klogus... I'm getting addicted to Torcs! I'm also a linux programmer, > and I'm wondering how network playing could be achieved in this operative > system. Does not matter, it should work in the end crossplattform and on all supported systems, so the very same code should work on all platforms (Linux, FreeBSD, Windows, 32/64 bit, little and big endian). > What would be the general scheme? Are there some ideas yet? I could make > some experiment on my LAN. > It would be great! We could organize Yes, there was a thread ~1 year ago, and I have a plan in my mind. It will be a big amount of work, so if you want to help have a look at the README and pick a task there for the current release (let me know to avoid doubled work), the networking thing is too big to start with, trust me;-) Bye, thank you, Bernhard. |

Hello, I'm Klogus... I'm getting addicted to Torcs! I'm also a linux programmer, and I'm wondering how network playing could be achieved in this operative system. What would be the general scheme? Are there some ideas yet? I could make some experiment on my LAN. It would be great! We could organize a real annual championship.... Hello, thanks to all developers for this great game, but you know, people are never completely satisfied, so I have two small wishes for next versions. 1. When I drove with keyboard there was no problem, but now I got a wheel and I have problem with screensaver. When I go a longer race a screensaver turns on during a race. Would it be possible to avoid it? As I know, some video player does it with generating some keyevents at some intervals. Maybe torcs could do the same, if it gets events from joystick/wheel, it would generate keyevents ie every 1 min. 2. I use upper back view (one of driver's view) when I'm driving. The problem is, that program doesn't remember camera position. I prefer a longer camera distance than is default and I have to set it on every race again. When I finish race with some other view (ie F4) and switch it to driver's view (F2) in new race then it is ok. Martin |

I never heard that before as well. To diagnose you can start TORCS with "torcs -d", this will give you a backtrace of the crash (requires GDB), that will perhaps help to diagnose the problem (depends with what switches it was compiled). > Version: 0.0.7 Hmm, I just tested with 0.0.8. What happens if you disable the sound completely in the sound menu, what happens if you use the plib backend? Does this help? Did you enable texture compression or downscaling, and if yes, which version of plib is on your system? What would help as well is: - OS architecture -> x86 (32bit), AMD/EMT64 (64bit) - plib version - plib compile switches if 64bit architecture (requires -fPIC) - glut/freeglut version - which 3D card and driver? - which sound card and driver? Bye, Bernhard. |

I have just installed torcs 1.2.4 from the fedora core rpm's. I'm running torcs on fedora core 4. The developers have done a great job on this simulation. I am very impressed. I don't have a problem starting or running the first race. However, every time I try to run a second race, torcs crashes. I have checked the FAQ and didn't see anything that was similar. Where should I start to look for the problem? The following is the output from the terminal when running torcs. I have an update on the control tutorial, with a new section on trajectory optimisation - this might be useful for your robot. http://www.idiap.ch/~dimitrak/simu/index.html here is the source for the demo: http://www.idiap.ch/~dimitrak/software/trajectory/optimise_road.cc After compling, run it with optimise_road 1000 0.01 >trajectory.out 2>learning.out The trajectory.out file will be split into 3 pairs of 2 columns. One pair is the x,y coordinates of the track's left side, the other the track's right side, and the 3rd the coordinates of the trajectory. The learning.out file will haeve the following columns iteration, cost, penalty, mean squared derivative, mean derivative (the last one is not very meaningful mathematically in terms of convergence though). If the penalty remains at 0 then the algorithm probably has not converged, because most of the optimal solutions tend to touch the sides of the road. OK, have fun -- Christos Dimitrakakis Homepage: http://www.idiap.ch/~dimitrak/main.html Music: http://olethros.dmusic.com |
