You hear optimists saying all the time that Woke is past its peak. But it sure looks like the Great Awokening still has a ton of institutional momentum as big, slow-moving organizations continue to implement ridiculous policies emanating from the 2020-21 “racial reckoning.”

The Portland Art Museum Ditches Its Docents, Raising Questions About Race, Class and Especially Age
The shift comes as the museum is getting a new look inside and out
By Rachel Saslow
October 04, 2023 at 5:46 am PDTAfter Paulla Dacklin retired from her career as an art teacher, she poured her energy into volunteering as a Portland Art Museum docent. She led 30 tours a year for students, guiding them through the museum and helping explain the works on display. Dacklin, 71, also met with fellow docents for continuing education on Mondays, and even exhibited her own art at a docent gallery show.
When the pandemic ebbed and the museum reopened, it felt strange that she never heard from the museum to set up her touring schedule—especially when Portland Public Schools was fully operational.
“It became apparent that we were kind of on hold, and we couldn’t figure out why,” Dacklin says.
The picture clarified on Aug. 22 when Dacklin and all 175 Portland Art Museum docents were, essentially, dumped via email.
The letter from museum management—subject line: “Future Directions”—explained that the museum was doing away with the approximately 40-year-old docent council structure and bringing in paid “learning guides” recruited from local colleges. …
“The message is really clear that the services of a group of older, retired educators are no longer needed,” Dacklin says.
The shift comes as the museum is getting a new look inside and out with its $110 million Mark Rothko Pavilion now under construction. It has also left hard feelings and highlighted a central tension facing museums across the country: Does reflecting the communities they serve mean reducing the role of senior white women, who made up a large proportion of the docent council? …
PAM’s overhaul of its docent program is the latest in a national trend.
… Museums in Denver and Birmingham, Ala., have also moved to paid college-guide programs. When the Art Institute of Chicago dismissed its docents and replaced them with a fleet of younger, more diverse “paid educators” in fall 2021, a flurry of media coverage (including scathing missives in conservative outlets) was so intense that the museum hired extra security.
… The word “docent” itself is now kaput at PAM: “While we understand that the word docent has warm, positive associations for some, we have also received feedback that the term is confusing and unclear,” Ferriso and Parrish wrote in the August email to former docents.
The Oregon Historical Society and the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education have also updated their programs to move away from the traditional docent model.
One former docent, who declined to be named, didn’t feel blindsided like Dacklin did by changes to the council. Based on what happened to the docents in Chicago and all the equity consultants PAM brought in, she had felt the “foreboding” for a couple of years. She laughed at the idea of going back to PAM as a volunteer educator: “They burned their bridge.”
Dacklin feels similarly alienated. “I’m heartbroken,” she says, her voice brimming with emotion. “Will I go back to the museum and volunteer? I don’t know anyone that’s going to do it. But I don’t know everyone.” …
The staff leading tours looks quite different as of last week, when the pilot group of four paid “learning guides” started their training. The museum is recruiting from Portland Community College, Portland State University and Lewis & Clark College. They will give tours of the museum to students two days a week.
Up on the walls right now is the exhibit Black Artists of Oregon, featuring work by 69 artists spanning from the 1880s to today. It is on view through March 17. Next month at this time, museum staff will be getting ready to mount Africa Fashion, an exhibit from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
… docents had to devote a year to training, which was a huge barrier to entry for volunteers who don’t have that kind of time and flexibility, Sabatier says.

This does not sound like Peak Woke but rather like same old same old. – Make money by being zeitgeisty. And those whose deprived of their right mind supressed fringy masses, whose core competence it is to be authentically against oppression – are in bad need of publicly funded jobs which reflect their precarious qualifications.
This fight will last as long as these dispossed of their right mind masses in the cultural sphere not least aren’t in the focus of Christopher Rufo et. al. I’d end – rather optimistically now.
C’mon, this is a freaking art museum in Portland, OR, where it’ll take a nuke to achieve any reduction in the Woke infestation.
No sympathy for the nice white lady docents who held up their crepey fists in honor of BLM whilst their deranged grandchildren terrorized the once nice city of Portland. Now that I've figured out how to clone from reanimated tissue museums across the country will have Emmett Till docents on staff.
Peak woke?
Resembles the classic ‘widow’s peak’ of Dracula and other balding men who brush their hair back. Starts off small, but then starts to cover the full territory ….
“Woke” = Anti-White. Terms like Woke or Critical Race Theory are used because they are more palatable to BoomerCons and CivNats, who fear the anti-White agenda being discussed in public.
Or they are anti-White themselves.
Calling it what it is (antiwhite) gets to the core of the issue and rejects the framework entirely, rather than accepting some of its precepts and thus neutering any opposition.
Translation: “We are eliminating vocabulary that only visitors and staff with an IQ of 95 or above are likely to know.”
The new docents are not docents, so you can't compare them.

Or they are anti-White themselves.Replies: @Anon, @Pop Warner
The biggest fear of nonwhites is Whites’ developing a feeling of White group identity or a sense among themselves of common destiny. External threats (“anti-Whitism”) can give rise to group identity and consciousness. That is why the media and other opinion shapers avoid using terms like anti-White. They want to play down threats to Whites. For the same reason, coverage of black criminality is suppressed or watered down.
American Blacks--a not super on-the-ball minority--traditionally lived with the white majority doing things their white way, as is normal/natural. Other non-whites were basically non-entities in the America I was born into. And non-whites in their own lands expected whites in white nations to have their various national identities as well as their pan-national "Western" or "Christian" identity.
~~
But yeah, this is one of the interesting questions. What happens when whites are pushed to minority status?
White Art Musuem?
Miss White America?
White Entertainment Television?
The whole thrust of the evil minoritarian project has been anti-national, to stop whites from having cohesive nations, with themselves and their culture as normative and governing themselves in their own interests. Mission Accomplished.
But the plain fact is white people/stuff is pretty nice. So whites are still going to be and do white stuff. And perhaps more explicitly?Replies: @Jack P

I think the plan is to rig the next 2 elections and bring in so many people between 2021-2032 that the 8 elections after the two rigged ones can be won without unusual hijinks.
10 million people will be brought in during the first Biden term, 20 million will be brought in during the 2nd term, and finally the last batch of 20 million will be brought in during the post-Biden third term.
America will be 40% white in 2050 which I think is a comfortable level for Democrats. To make sure the white majority doesn’t fight back during the deluge up to 2032, there will be have to be a lot of woke ideology to keep whites feeling guilty about advocating for white identity adjacent issues like border control.

I posted this once before but it is relevant again because of the essay so here goes. Yale’s Denise Ho wrote a book a few years ago called Curating Revolution. The book documents how museum exhibits, and informal exhibits elsewhere, were important in propagating Mao’s ideas. The concept is that many or most people, and children especially, have difficulty grasping ways of thinking in the abstract, but are often amenable to being convinced by tangible exhibits. In fact, a single artifact was sometimes deemed to constitute “ironclad evidence” there is a Chinese word for that but I can’t remember what it is. Anyway this assault on museums is straight out of the cultural revolution.
Nifty thing: that sentence remains accurate for any value of woke.
That is, you may replace woke with the word of your choice.
A society run entirely for the benefit of the Tribe.
Yet strangely, Oregon blacks will still underperform compared to whites, browns, and yellows.

Yes, except that the sacred ones were never made to feel unwelcome in the first place. It’s an art museum and it’s in Portland, Oregon. It was already bending over backwards to accommodate the identity politics of the Coalition.
The difference now is that they’re taking the obvious next step, as is so much of our society, and explicitly jettisoning the icky white people. The ones without whom the museum wouldn’t even exist. The ones without whom the society wouldn’t even exist.
Of course not. But tiny miscommunications ("microaggressions") loom large to the sacred ones.
From the article: "...embarrassing incident in March when a museum staffer (not a docent) asked a young mother to remove her baby from its traditional basket carrier—while she toured an exhibit showcasing a Native American artist. The museum apologized, further trained its staff in cultural sensitivity, and changed its backpack policy."
You are quite right that they're "explicitly jettisoning the icky white people". But it's precisely those icky white people like the docents quoted who made that possible. I feel zero sympathy for them.

Before Big Pharma began marketing methamphetamines to treat ADD , most Americans used nicotine for similar benefits. Unfortunately we have made nicotine more costly than methamphetamines in America. The result is less Americans using nicotine and more using meth (adderal).
I have used Adderall and nicotine to help focus and get more work done. I prefer Nicotine , which has other benefits and less side effects compared to Adderall.

As I’ve noted before, there is a shocking inability in modern America to distinguish between exploitation and volunteerism. These museums are institutions. There is no owner siphoning profits making themselves rich. (Though donors seeking tax exemptions certainly often do) These institutions reinvest their profits into the institution.
So neither the docents nor the college students would be being exploited by not being paid. (Though one does question why the directors of these museums are paid such high salaries)
But I wonder if the mere idea of a black person being asked to do something for free makes these people deeply uncomfortable. (As, indeed, seems to be the background sentiment driving professionalism in the NCAA despite there not actually being the money for it)
The same issue could be seen in the whole “Liv Golf” situation.
When you change something from a volunteer or unpaid role into a paid role you profoundly change it. Is golf a sport, a public institution or is it mere entertainment and a business? It seems like a lot of people in America couldn’t comprehend the former and assumed somebody was being exploited.
Not everything is an unpaid internship with a money that makes money off your efforts and could afford to pay.

Yes, but IS IT REALLY GOOD for the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education to replace its elder Jewish female docents by more diverse College volunteers? We will see …

Yes. I’m sure that museum will be hiring diverse college students like black and brown Muslims.
I’ve experienced this firsthand in meeting non-college-educated Europeans who formed their ideas about 20th century history by being impressed at museum exhibits.

Unfortunately most of the institutional momentum was built up long before the summer of Floyd. About a decade ago I was watching Ontario’s public broadcaster, TVO and heard something like “The Agenda is brought to you in part by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants: accountants working for social change”. At the time I thought how odd and sinister it was for accountants (of all people) to be using New Left lingo. Well here we are now.
I`ll bet a lot of professional associations were talking this way a decade ago.

The truth is, that in the contemporary USA, one simply cannot be anti-white *ENOUGH*.
No reprimand, sanction, condemnation etc is *EVER* made, no matter how egregious the anti white actions are. In fact such actions are *ALWAYS* defended, nay positively rewarded.
It’s obvious, even to the biggest dummy out there, that anti whiteism in the USA will only ratchet up, and inevitably become full state sanctioned dogma.
I was reminded of this:
CBS 60 Minutes – The Loony Left (1987)
It turned out the Establishment came to terms with this Loony Left over the Blair and Clinton years. Woke has deep roots.

Tear down a few more statues, maybe?
To get much more serious, I don’t think Steve Sailer here and obviously most other Americans don’t realize what is even going on. Of the comments here, I see that only SafeNow above has got the idea.
This is an American Cultural Revolution. 15 years back I read about 10 books on the Chinese version of this – mid-1960s to mid-’70s. I thought that Americans would never put up with this type of thing. I was sadly too optimistic about Americans’ understanding of who we are up against and Americans; will to get off their asses with a will to fight this.
This is not a fad! It’s not something that will go away because they’ve had their fun, realize it’s gotten pretty stupid, run out of money … The idea of Wokeness is to upend traditional mostly-White/straight/male-led society. It’s not just the old literature, the history museums, the statues, and other cultural features that must be eliminated or upended. Wokeness has nearly taken over Big Business, Governments, Universities, the Lyin’ Press, and they are not finished yet.
These people will not stop until we stop them. This is a necessary step for the Communists before they go full Commie and upend the whole economy. It’d behoove us to stop them before that.
Wake the fuck up yourselves, and realize who these people are and what they want.
I remember several decades ago noticing how woke (it wasn't a term then) the universities had become, and it gave me the heebie-jeebies. Problem is, they now have completed the long march through the institutions, and have ratcheted up by outright weaponization of the legal system against their enemies and to shield their friends.
I think the most likely losing scenario for them would be blundering the U.S. into a major war and losing. Unfortunately, a LOT of innocent people will die. I hope I'm wrong. The best (but less probable) scenario would be an internal collapse of this abominable system because it so glorifies incompetence. I'm rooting for that but am not optimistic. I think they imported enough dot Indians and Chinese to maintain some minimal level of competence. But then I see them imposing this Green madness and I'm not so sure. The Voice: Australians vote No in historic referendum
The following is an inquiry into the origins and rise of the word “Woke” (not the concept itself, or the ideology behind it, or the Regime that manages and enforces it. Those things are much-discussed hereabouts, and clearly have many decades under their belts; just the word, which did not really exist in English as of 2015 or so).
(I would reject the idea there was something called “The Great Awokening” in the 2010s, if by that it is meant wild new trends or political-views not seen before ca. 2012/13 were introduced; the real Great Awokening would have to be pinned to the mid-1960s to mid-1970s, or so, of course… For those who believe a Great Awokening of the 2010s was a sharp break with the 1980s, 1990s, or 2000s [rather than just an extension of the ideology that had emerged by the early 1970s, see this from 1973: “George Gilder’s essay ‘Sexual Suicide’.”)
— — —
It may be of interest or value to take a look at the Google-Trends monthly-data for queries in the USA involving the words “Wokeness“and “Wokeism.”
(I note that “Woke” itself cannot be reliably used because by those who seek the origin-period of the new meaning. The old meaning of “woke,” involving the act of emerging from sleep, obfuscates results of interest. But we are interested in the new meaning, i.e., political-cultural “Wokeness,” i.e., systematic anti-White, anti-Male, anti-Christian attitudes that are so total as to divert the purpose of the State and reshape the meaning of a well-lived life to revolve around fighting Whiteness, which is to say, fighting Evil.)
Google-Trends data for “Wokeism“:
— At zero before June 2020.
— First long peak: April-August 2021
— Second peak: April 2022 (all-time peak)
— Third peak: February to June 2023
(I am arbitrarily defining “peak” here by any months when total-searches were at “50” or above when the all-time-peak month of April 2022 is pegged to “100.”)
What this data means is subject to interpretation. Google-Trends is based on search-quantities.
But in summer and fall 2023, Google-Trends data suggests “Wokeness” as terms are registering at around the low-points seen over the past 2.5 years.
— — —
The trends for “Wokeness” are all similar for “Wokeism,” except for two things: (1.) the volume of queries for “Wokeness” is higher across the board, and (2.) the up-trend for “Wokeness” starts distinctly earlier.
The earlier-start for “Wokeness” gives good insights into when this term entered the language, and Steve Sailer fans will not be disappointed to know Sailer was there at the start,
“Wokeness” starts entering the waters in the Google-Trends data in 2016, although the volume of searches is quite low up through late 2018.
As so often happens, Steve Sailer identified the trend at its very cusp, in 2016. The first time the Google-Trends data registers “Wokeness” above the level of “1” on the “peak=100” scale (and “1” can also be noise), is May 2016. The second time was not until March 2017, and it is not consistently at “2” or above until mid-2018. But back in mid-2016, Sailer was doing what he does best in mid-2016 and picked up on the word, although the original meaning was unsettled as yet.
Here are some of Sailer’s earliest uses of the word “Woke”:
(1.) July 2016: “Implicit prejudice is original sin. Everybody is guilty (if they are a cishet white male Republican. But due to intersectionality, you can catch Pokemon Points to stop being guilty by, say, becoming woke and voting for Hillary, who is a woman.)”
.
(2.) August 2016: Steve Sailer wrote: “David Epstein, the HBD-woke author of The Sports Gene, writes…” (commenter iffen replied: “…’HBD-woke’: Excellent, Steve, way to let the brain snatchers know that you remain unconquered.”)
.
“HBD-woke” was a nascent Sailerism later totally overwhelmed by the evolution of the word and concept of Wokeness. That Mr. S would use the word in such a way is indicative of how early the word “Woke” was in its growth cycle.
Sailer-in-2016 was using “Woke” there to mean “someone who has insider info and knows the real story of something.” But the Regime and its ideologues have appropriated it to solely mean “people who know the secret truth that White-Christians are ultra-satanically evil and the world’s foremost problem, to be always struggled against, all their many victim-groups should be supported.”
.
(3.) In early September 2016, Steve Sailer linked to an article by Michael Stutz, titled: “The Alt-Right Is Woke ,” published by right-wing shock-jock Charles Johnson.
Quote, from Michael Stutz, August 25, 2016:
Steve Sailer endorsed this view (“Alt-Right as Alt-Rock,” Sept. 9, 2016). The interesting thing is the title, which included the word “Woke.” The word was still evolving, but Steve Sailer was, by Labor Day 2016, definitely on the wavelength of the new-word “Woke,” which lame-mainstreamers didn’t pick up on for another four years or more.
.
(4.) October 2016: Sailer title a blog-post “NPR: Information Is Racist, Ignorance Is Woke.”
Some of the Sailer-commenters there, in that October 2016 thread, discussed what “Woke” is supposed to mean. Kyle McKenna wrote: “[‘Woke’ is] an adjective now, of sorts. Implies you wit it.” Opinionator wrote: “[‘Woke’] is an adjective describing a person of color who perceives systemic racism in U.S. institutions, economy, commerce, standards, testing, social arrangements, and sexual relations, and implicit bias in persons of no color.
.
Sailer used “Woke” many more times in late 2016, 2017, and 2018. But Google-Trends shows that very few general-population Americans were searching queries involving the word “Wokeness” in these years.
Sailer and his readers were ahead of the pack, as usual, and were so far ahead as for the feeling to be a little isolating.
Another case of Sailer being too-far ahead of the pack was when, beginning in mid-late 2013, Sailer began donning his Paul Revere costume to ride through town and yell warnings to loyal townspeople, through many-a night, to the effect that “The Trannies Are Coming.” He was going this by mid-late 2013. He was right, but everyone laughed back then. By the tail-end of the strange decade that was the 2010s, no one was laughing anymore.
Starting in early 2019, Google-Trends data for “Wokeness” begins to show a sustained ascent. This stupid word, Woke(ness) — formerly a niche jargon, akin to “gamer-slang” or something, or the particularly-stupid slang used by Western K-pop fan-communities — was digging in, just as Sailer had implicitly predicted in mid-2016. From its place in the mid-2010s, when it occupied a grimy linguistic-ghetto, to the cusp of major success by 2019.
Yes, the breakout period for “Wokeness” in the Google-Trends data is distinctly 2019, when it finally lifts off the ground-level on the graph, where it had spent all of 2016, 2017, and 2017.
“Wokeness” then broke into the big-leagues, per the Google-Trends dataset, in February 2020, making a leap up from its now-strong late-2019 base. The 2019 consolidation and the sudden February-2020 rise were all pre-George Floyd, of course.
The big spike in February 2020 was also just as the Corona-Panic was coming together. A few months later, the anti-White pogrom of 2020 began in which lockdown-addled pro-Wokeness masses in the USA smashed up the place a bit, egged on by the Regime and in furtherance of Regime goals and ideology.
The exact relationship between the Corona-Panic of early 2020 to early 2022 or so, and the rise of a mutant form of aggressive-Wokeness in 2020 that dug deep and ramped-up existing anti-White discrimination, remains an unsettled question. The two forces seemed to coexist with each other, generally symbiotically. And to see the Google-Trends data showing that the term “Wokeness” broke through (Feb. 2020) in the very-same few-week period that the Corona-Panic broke through (ca. mid-Feb.? to mid-March 2020) seems to corroborate the hypothesis.

What’s tragicomic about the whole thing is, that aspirational nonsense aside, the museum goers will remain, as they ever were, largely White and Asian women. The only Bipox museum goers are school children dragooned by their institutional day care providers into museum trips. Bipox adults are by and large not museum goers and never will be. It’s a good bet that the ‘young mother with her baby in a traditional basket carrier’ that gave rise to struggle sessions at the museum was a Liz Warren type larping as Native American.
Relax, it will soon be renamed as Sacagawea College.
Nope, it will be renamed "York & Seaman College" after the expedition's slave and dog.Replies: @kaganovitch
Tobacco helps people with ADD, actually it’s the nicotine.
For college students the best choice is Adderall when required to cram for an exam. Many prescriptions are filled for this reason, as the pills can be quickly sold at Universities across the nation.
In its 2023 manifestation, wokism is best described a as a powerful racial/ideological vector: a force and a direction. Unless met with equal force, it cannot be stopped. Unless met with greater force, it cannot be reversed.
In the fullness of time, various frictional/resistance factors, both internal and external, will slow it down or even halt it. You should shudder to think how far it will go before anything like that will happen.

So neither the docents nor the college students would be being exploited by not being paid. (Though one does question why the directors of these museums are paid such high salaries)
But I wonder if the mere idea of a black person being asked to do something for free makes these people deeply uncomfortable. (As, indeed, seems to be the background sentiment driving professionalism in the NCAA despite there not actually being the money for it)
The same issue could be seen in the whole "Liv Golf" situation.
When you change something from a volunteer or unpaid role into a paid role you profoundly change it. Is golf a sport, a public institution or is it mere entertainment and a business? It seems like a lot of people in America couldn't comprehend the former and assumed somebody was being exploited.

I would leave out people who limit themselves to the old favorites alcohol, caffeine and nicotine. That is a different important category.
Is 13% the correct interpretation of the graphic? Could an individual have more than one prescription?
around 15% of young males are taking Adderall , but less than 10% of women take this drug. While 30% of women are on anti-depressants only 10% of men (queers) take anti-depressants. This confirms what most men have known since the Bronze Age , a third of the women are crazy and require a dominant male to keep them sane. Otherwise they must be highly medicated on psych drugs.

Tip for amateur data divers: exponential graphs will look flat for a long time until they take off. If you have the original data, plotting an exponential on a logarithmic y-axis will look linear, showing a rapidly growing process that seems to suddenly break through.
The jump in the Google-Trends data for "Wokeness" in February 2020, specifically, is no illusion. It jumps from "6" to "23" in the version I saw. No previous month-on-month jump exceeds such a magnitude, down to the 1%-of-peak resolution scale.

Oh, nobody has to actually cram for an exam any more. Studying — how quaint.
You just write Black Lives Matter 100 times in a row, or else quote Kendi X. Genius. Or just denounce white people for a paragraph or two.
Besides, the exams themselves no longer contain serious questions which require serious answers. That would be like looking at somebody’s SAT score. What are you, Hitler?
Our new country is gonna be great!
Level of feminization–how much an institution is full of “the girls with BAs”–will have a strong correlation with institutions just motoring on with woke.
Male institutions, like the NFL have done this as well–the ethnic component (a lot of Jewish owners, majority black players), arrogance and being a monopoly, playing a big role. But in general, I think the more male the institution, the more engaged in producing real goods and the more subject to market forces, the greater the tendency to ease up on the crazy. No one wants to get “Bud Lit”.
~~
But the bottom line here remains the same.
Minoritarianism–this nutty idea that society ought to be organized to cater to the interests of minorities, the outliers, the non-compliant, the weirdos, the troublemakers, the parasites–is a cancer upon civilization. It is anti-civilization. Minoritarianism must be destroyed for the West to survive.
And progress on that includes HBD–taking away the black club from the Jewish hand. The simple understanding that “people differ” and all the world’s problems and deficiencies aren’t white people’s fault. Rather white people have rather uniquely have very open, non-tribal societies, and have created the revolutions in thought and technology that have enriched the world.
This is one reason the woke agenda is just getting started…it is not so much pro- minority as it is anti-white.
It has also left hard feelings…
I initially read this as “It also has hard-left feelings…”
It’s Ok, Yreke was the Ebonic spelling

” docents had to devote a year to training, which was a huge barrier to entry for volunteers ”
Left unsaid is if using volunteers is a violation of labor laws. At various times I have seen organizations that made use of volunteers start to keep track of the time volunteers spent, I assume, due to fear that they will be accused of wage theft.
Fact Sheet #14A: Non-Profit Organizations and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fact-sheets/14a-flsa-non-profits
My non lawyer take: One way to avoid violating Fair Labor Standards is to normalize volunteers as employees. But if you are going to actually pay these people, I suspect 20 somethings cost less in terms of workers comp and other costs. If you coordinate with their college, the guides will pay for their own training by taking ‘relevant’ college courses. 20 something guides are a more stylish look than ‘little old ladies’, and a stylish look will attract nouveau riche types that have money to donate.
Well, it’s certainly past its stage of novelty and naivete. We are no longer in Faust, Part One where it looks like the deal with the devil may not be so bad after all. The masks are off and the ugly face of Woke is apparent for all to see.
Between Covid, Ukraine, an incipient inflation and debt crisis, and now Gaza, the complete absurdity of American policy, both foreign and domestic, is no longer possible to ignore. The moments of clarity are coming with accelerating frequency. I believe most ordinary people are quite out of patience with this stuff and will make for the exits when they appear. “Woke” has no support on the ground and is entirely a function of official propaganda. That situation is not stable, and it will not last.
Your criticism, SFG, I think assumes it was based on “eyeballing” a graph. “Eyeballing” can be useful at times and can be deceiving at other times, depending on what one is looking for and the resolution of the graph. But it is not relevant in this case. There are values attached, i.e., “0” vs. “100” (all-time peak), wherein “1” is a number roundable to 1% of the all-time peak. And these numbers match up well with what is known of the political-history of the word Woke(ness).

There is a Zimbabwean joke in which an old farmer, sitting in his shanty, is startled to see the bare bulb above his head flicker to life for the first time in a decade. Then the faucet, long dry, begins to drip water. He calls to his wife, “Get me my machete–the whites are back in power!”
Zimbabweans are Christian (nominally, at least). Arabs are Muslim. Zimbabweans are black. Arabs may be darker, but they ain’t black. If you want to know how Arabs treat foreign workers, look at Dubai. This investment by Dubai isn’t going to end well for the people of Zimbabwe. Not that I care.

On the arrest of Turtleboy, a Sailer-Sphere blogger and local-news investigate-journalist.
From Coemgen’s link:
Turtleboy’s blog started in 2013 or early 2014. It is down now. The name of his original website, TurtleboySports.com, gives away the early idea.
Turtleboy turned more confrontational against local authorities, in the way many people assume a certain journalist type is by default. From that, he turned more political within a few years.
An expansion to “TurtleBoy Daily News” (TBDailyNews.com) had appeared by Jan. 2019. He always appears to have also done a lot of local news throughout his near-ten-year independent-journalism career.
Turtleboy, I notice, overlapped quite a bit with the Steve Sailer blogging world. Commenters mention Turtleboy in the Steve Sailer comment-section at least twenty times between September 2016 and his recent arrest. Once by Steve Sailer himself (“The Headkicker in the Stabby Columbus Brouhaha Was Ma’K the Knife’s Dad,” April 2021).
I also notice that @TBDailyNews is banned on Twitter.
I live one town over from where the Karen Read case is based yet I still don’t understand the case. TB coverage assumes someone already has background on it.
Anyway, I’m glad Howie Carr has obviously thrown his support behind TB because there is no one as fearless and no one with as much experience with and knowledge of Massachusetts State Police, Boston FBI, and Massachusetts political corruption as Howie Carr. And also has a major following and an influential figure.

Turtleboy runs the account @TurtleboyTweets, which he began posting in late August 2018, by which time he had become more political. He is, as of this writing, celebrating his arrest and release on Twitter.
Another account he runs is @DoctorTurtleboy, in which h declares himself an “investigative journalist of the anti-establishment,” whatever that means.
It may be true that he raised $5 million in donations over a investigation into a case involving a certain Karen Read, whoever she is; and it may be true there was nothing whatsoever illegal about any of it. But it’s still a strange world to live in where that kind of thing can happen. A $5 million jackpot does not befit the idea of “independent investigative journalist.”
They are eliminating the word in order to avoid comparisons of the performance of the (white, volunteer) docents and the new (black, paid) docents. E.g., “Note the exquisite rendition of the drapery in this Flemish portrait” to “This be a painting by a Wakanda man.”
The new docents are not docents, so you can’t compare them.

To a degree, woke leftists understand this. And they also understand that cuckservatives will never say it outright. So they claim that anti-wokes simply don’t like byepocks, which is closer to the mark than saying that wokeism is some sort of academic theory run amok. Since cuckservatives can’t say what it really is, they don’t have a defense against the claim of racism beyond claiming they love black people and hate White identitarians (Lindsey, Rufo, etc al) which only fortifies the underlying principles of wokeism among its opponents.
Calling it what it is (antiwhite) gets to the core of the issue and rejects the framework entirely, rather than accepting some of its precepts and thus neutering any opposition.
Put me down for some of that art.

Male institutions, like the NFL have done this as well--the ethnic component (a lot of Jewish owners, majority black players), arrogance and being a monopoly, playing a big role. But in general, I think the more male the institution, the more engaged in producing real goods and the more subject to market forces, the greater the tendency to ease up on the crazy. No one wants to get "Bud Lit".
~~
But the bottom line here remains the same.
Minoritarianism--this nutty idea that society ought to be organized to cater to the interests of minorities, the outliers, the non-compliant, the weirdos, the troublemakers, the parasites--is a cancer upon civilization. It is anti-civilization. Minoritarianism must be destroyed for the West to survive.
And progress on that includes HBD--taking away the black club from the Jewish hand. The simple understanding that "people differ" and all the world's problems and deficiencies aren't white people's fault. Rather white people have rather uniquely have very open, non-tribal societies, and have created the revolutions in thought and technology that have enriched the world.Replies: @Travis

I suppose this museum in Portland and others are just swimming in cash.
You fire your free volunteers who have done a professional job and you pay (allegedly) college students as short time temps to do an much inferior job.
Say, $20/hr versus free.
Woke in action.
So museum funds formerly used for exhibits and upkeep will subsidize slack jawed community college students “of color” far above their local numbers or interest in the museum. Some will “work” while high on pot and others conspire to steal what they can. Gay museum administrators will be happy to recruit new young male eye candy and new adventures in the museum furnace room.
The next museum fundraising pitch will have photos of students (acceptably non White, lots of fat lesbians) in uniforms touting their new improved non docent workforce.

Thanks for that news. This is shocking and outrageous. I first learned about Turtleboy Sports from listening to Howie Carr. Occasionally I’ll remember to check out his website and then I get depressed that I live in Massachusetts. Kearney has broken so many amazing scandals— including DA Rachael Rollins’ abuse of power— that I came to believe he’s got inside law enforcement sources giving him tips.

Forget it, Jake, it’s Portland.
About ten years ago, at a previous employer, I had to deal with some employee issues at one of our offices in Portland. Worst, most entitled people I have ever dealt with in my life. Prior to that experience the Portland area was on a shortlist of places my wife and I thought about moving to. It hasn’t been on it since. Oregon is beautiful. But if we move there it will be somewhere far from Portland.
My late husband took me to Oregon, his home state, in 2003, back when I was clueless politically. (I just assumed after 9/11, Americans would all pull together and Bush would close the borders.) Though I love well-ordered public spaces, I hated Portland on sight. Something about its welcoming greenness was so smug, so off-putting. I could just see the liberals laying it out to advertise their social/cultural superiority. For the first time ever, I missed St. Louis's urban decay and general shabbiness. Even Cleveland has got to be better than this, I thought.
Of course, by the time we returned in 2015, my loathing was full-blown. I literally counted the hours I had to spend in the benighted state. My husband wanted to move back there. I told him I'd miss him.
You're right, Oregon is beautiful. What a waste of nice scenery.

I also saw a museum in France, or maybe it was also Germany, I forget, where they put new notes in classic art explaining that “this work is racist because…” or “This painting is a dated view of exploration and colonization because…”. It was pretty annoying.
What these idiots don’t seem to understand is that museums are a thing that White People Like (and well, East Asians, and Jews). No Black or Mexican or Arab goes to museums, unless forced by the schools, or exceptionally. But usually they don’t really care.

Wokeness may have its origins in the nineties with the collapse of Marxism. A socialism based on class was replaced by a socialism based on race and gender. Whites, especially white males, replaced capitalists as the baddies. This was ramped up around 2014. The Tea Party movement wanted to return to the political ideas of a bunch of 18th century dead white males and had surprising success in the 2010 election by going around the mainstream media and using the internet to get their message out. The left then started working to clamp down on free speech there. By 2020 you would hear a lot about misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech out on the internet by the left. They are now working to eliminate all freedom of speech and press, another 18th century dead white male idea.
I think you're on target with tying Wokeness to the decline of traditional Marxism. But as for the 1990s collapse of Marxism, you refer to the geopolitical collapses of the Marxist states, I think, led by the USSR. But the same process -- exiting traditional-Marxism or pro-worker Socialism and moving towards the anti-White hate-ideology of Wokeness -- can be traced to the mid-20th century generally. It was being commented upon by puzzled observers as it was ongoing.
It seems the rise of proto-Wokeness was observable enough by "Steve Sailer types" already by about 1970 (though not Sailer himself, then just a boy concerned with toys, comic-books, or baseball-cards). I am sure many of them were hoping what they observed was a fad that would pass.Replies: @Hail, @rebel yell

This anti-white, anti-male, anti-American ideology has been forced on Americans by their rulers. Popular discontent with the policy will not stop it. And as people on this site know, demographic changes are making Americans a minority in America, replaced by a dis-united, dumber, and more compliant population. Even if major crises come and the government is weakened this population will not successfully rebel.
We can expect more of the same – being usurped, disenfranchised, and strangers in our own land.

Wokeness is anti-White and the most hated whites are straight white males. We are a small and shrinking minority of the US population.
Over the past decade 27 million whites have passed away and just 18 million whites have been born…the demographic death spiral has begun. Currently just 24% of Americans are straight white makes, soon we will be just 20% of the working-age population. Not much can stop the leftists from using wokeness to target and destroy whiteness in their pursuit of power.
This was/is more an obsession of Jews, not “non-whites”. Though it perhaps has become one now for some other elite minorities in America who operate similarly.
American Blacks–a not super on-the-ball minority–traditionally lived with the white majority doing things their white way, as is normal/natural. Other non-whites were basically non-entities in the America I was born into. And non-whites in their own lands expected whites in white nations to have their various national identities as well as their pan-national “Western” or “Christian” identity.
And perhaps more explicitly?

By the 1990s a form of Wokeness exists and is in power. We are always looking at a moving-target, though, and developments of the 1980s and 1970s also seem important. Wokeness as known/called in the late 2010s and early 2020s is a continuation-ideology, not a suddenly-new ideology.
I think you’re on target with tying Wokeness to the decline of traditional Marxism. But as for the 1990s collapse of Marxism, you refer to the geopolitical collapses of the Marxist states, I think, led by the USSR. But the same process — exiting traditional-Marxism or pro-worker Socialism and moving towards the anti-White hate-ideology of Wokeness — can be traced to the mid-20th century generally. It was being commented upon by puzzled observers as it was ongoing.
It seems the rise of proto-Wokeness was observable enough by “Steve Sailer types” already by about 1970 (though not Sailer himself, then just a boy concerned with toys, comic-books, or baseball-cards). I am sure many of them were hoping what they observed was a fad that would pass.
People aren't Christian anymore. That doesn't mean we've entered a post-religion era. Women are leading the way, as they did with Christianity, filling in the blanks with an alternate religion. The need for or appeal of religious faith belief and conformity is very strong. That is another reason this Woke stupidity is not going away.

Meanwhile, political scientists have been puzzled by the supposed mystery of the decline of the long-powerful, long-prestigious Social Democratic parties in Europe. This topic has been debated a lot by academics, who are usually a little hamstrung.
The social-democratic parties declined visibly in in the 2000s and 2010s, in the sense of vote-totals they dropped and they were being declared obsolete. The main historical social-democratic party in France practically disappeared. The same story mostly holds everywhere.
The process has now pushed itself to the point that the SPD of Germany (to which the chancellor belongs) polls less support than the soft-ethnonationalist AfD (which is subject to the scorn of the Berlin regime in a way like 2016 Charlottesville pro-Statue demonstrators or 2021 January Six’ers were subject to scorn by the USA’s Regime). Even the SPD+Greens natural-alliance in Germany has been failing to outpoll the AfD decisively. SPD+Greens has been in the low-30s for a while, hitting as low as 30% in a recent poll; the AfD now making 23% after recent victories.
The Social-Democratic Decline Mystery all looks nice-and-tidy on a graph, and some academics have tried to explain the decline by pointing to the period during or directly preceding the visible-declines in vote-totals or polled-support. But the causes of the decline are longer-term and “structural.”
No better narrative-level explanation for the Social Democratic Decline phenomenon can be had than the observable shift by these parties towards proto-Wokeness in the late-20th century. By the 2000s, many marginal voters were no longer sure what the point of these parties was. They have not recovered from this crisis-of-confidence. They have gained voters among Migrants (both pro-Wokeness Migrants and even anti-Wokeness Migrants), but this is more than offset by loss of White-Christians whose fathers and grandfathers voted for such parties.
The modern UK Labour Party is, of course, a facsimile of the US Democrat Party, with all that entails.

At risk of over simplifying, I always thought that the decline of that type of political party (to the extent it is happening, it is not uniform throughout the West) coincided with the rise of globalization. Seems that these parties were closely tied to industrial labor unions, which increasingly became obsolete when jobs were shipped to China, etc. But I may be looking at this through U.S. filtered eyes.

Good one.
One cause of the current popularity of Jewish-centric accounts of U.S. history, both pro-Semitic and anti-Semitic, is because Jews remain fascinated with their history and write about it, while Protestant Americans have gotten awfully bored with theirs. For example, I have a 1971 Encyclopedia Brittanica. It’s absolutely stuffed with articles about American Protestant clergymen of the 17th to 20th Centuries, 99% of whom I’ve never heard of. Evidently, they were considered a big deal in the past. But almost nobody is interested in them today. (Maybe, the late Cormac McCarthy and the Coen Brothers are.)
The reality of American history is that it was mostly some white Protestants doing X and other white Protestants doing Y, but we’ve largely lost interest in the dramatis personae.
Or do book publishers and critics favor Jewish non-fiction authors, just as New York Jewish music and literature critics promoted their co-ethnics starting after WW2? Perhaps there are two separate sets of history readers, White men and everyone else?

Jews are fascinated with their history of convincing host nations to become bored with their own history.
Although in the Protestant's case, it may have been easier: turn on a TV with a black man playing with a ball.
“Is woke past its peak?”
Regular whites don’t really get to decide much anymore. The powers-that-be, the minorities, the mainstream corporate media, the CIA, the DOJ, the college professors and the grades 6-12 public school teachers, the late-show television talk-show hosts (Colbert, Kimmel, Meyers, etc), the NPR hosts and the like seem to all decide to push this or that all at the same time and nothing can stand against it.
Whatever ghost gets in all their heads at the same time and makes them either amplify or squelch things gets to decide when (or if) wokeness jumps the shark apparently.

Intellectuals were fervent Marxists but traditional Marxism never captured the emotions and hearts of the middle class. By switching to race and sex issues Marxism can appeal to those emotions, especially among middle class women, and become a faith-based belief system.

I suspect you are right. Wokeness does not stop until it is stopped by the people. And Americans are far from getting it at this point.
Protestantism, being unconstrained by traditional creedal or liturgical forms, is dependent on the power of individual personalities to shape the message. The great Protestant clergyman is above all a good speaker and/or a good writer and is able to captivate with his presence. The Protestant ministers of the past were the social media influencers of their day.
Now we have other influencers, but the spirit of old, mainline Protestantism has transferred itself to the new media without missing a beat. This explains both why contemporary Americans prefer to get their theology from TV hostesses, movie stars, and crooners, and why the clergymen of the past embraced the proto-Wokeness of abolitionism and suffrage.
It’s all the same thing, and it points to a Flaw in the American national character and the Enlightenment attitude that wants its religion personal, entertaining, and reformed.
Woke is stupid people trying to sound not only intelligent but more intelligent than anyone else. That will never end. I just heard a song that was very interesting to listen to but the lyrics were essentially an average-IQ news-follower stringing together pop culturally circulating medical terms, trying to sound like a rhyming scientist.

Cultural revolutions are nothing new for America : actually that was the whole point about the foundation of New England : it started with “great awakenings” of which the last “awokening” is not so different : life enjoyment as experienced by normal working people is always most sinful, rugged bandits and predators are role models, free thought and opposition to group think as defined by self-styled preaching entrepreneurs is high treason. Actually many observers of the Chinese Cultural Revolution remarked its strong surprising similitude with “great awakening”, “Gothic American” Protestant ethics as was still the order of the day in many “Silent Majority” states.
Yeah, there'd be many preachers - in the old timey ones - big movements, etc., going on, sure, but nothing like the violence and loss of a whole decade such as with the Chinese Cultural Revolution from 1966 - '76.
There was not the loss of 30-40 million lives that Mao caused only a few years earlier ('59-'61), but this next stupidity involved children telling Red Guards on their parents for incorrect thoughts, getting them put on a stage with "large-character posters" denouncing them, pig's blood poured on them (portending the movie Carrie), and city people being sent off to work and freeze their asses off on pig farms in Manchuria.
It was a whole decade in which Chinese young people got almost no real education, as schools and universities were turned into struggle session venues and places for big rallies ... wait, it's sounding a little familiar ... Careers were put on hold, and the economy was in the dumps, not that it had been worth a damn earlier in the reign of the Great Helmsman either ...These "observers" obviously didn't observe anything from China. To compare it to American Protestant moral values is retarded.Replies: @Jack D
The decay in US Protestant faith and theology is crucial to understanding a range of historical moves in the country’s history.
When the Puritans lost sight of God, their belief structure became a hollowed-out shell, but it retained one crucial feature: the world (and its unfortunates) need to be saved.
The original Puritans believed that they were chosen by God as His elect, but that it was up to God to transform the world. They might be His tools, but ultimately it was up to Him.
But by the 19th century (I’m compressing horribly here in the interests of space and simplicity) many of the succeeding generations of leading American Protestants had lost their faith in God; they were now Unitarians, or increasingly worldly Congregationalists or Presbyterians, or whatever. At this point, no matter what they thought about God, they still fervently believed the world needed transforming, and they now believed it was up to them to carry this out. In other words, they became substitute saviors — as the enlightened (but worldly) elect, they could save the world themselves, armed with their perspicacity and wisdom and scientific worldviews and just general superior goodness.
From this heresy have sprung forth numerous ‘world saving’ myths — e.g. from the ‘Social Gospel’ of the late 19th century, to the Wilsonian League of Nations, to neocons ‘spreading democracy’, to today’s Woke ‘saviors’ of the racially and culturally oppressed. It’s all one people assuming they are sufficiently good and powerful to take responsibility for saving other, lesser people from their own fates.

This group arrived with an aggrieved mentality, with (crucially) a separate intellectual tradition, and armed with elite-diasporic ethics, whereas we White-Protestants were simply who we've always been.
Many of the leading Protestants of the late-19th and early 20th century were strongly against that group. The curious person on this point should consult some of the works of Henry Adams, a bonafide member of the elite. He was of age to see the pre- and post-periods of the arrival of the group to which I allude. He and others came to envision that that group would hijack the country. Meanwhile, these same Protestant-elite observers viewed various protean, proto-leftist movements among their own kind with some disdain, sometimes whimsical disdain, and usually a lot less alarm.

William Bradford set us on the way to “marriage equality” in the spring of 1621 by announcing at Plymouth’s first wedding that he was acting only in his capacity as a magistrate, not as a clergyman, although he was invested both types of authority. In other words, he took marriage from the church and handed it over to the state. Of course, he was just following Calvin, who compared marriage to agriculture, and farming isn’t a sacrament, is it?
Progressive Protestants think rainbow “welcoming” flags and same-sex nuptials are the fulfillment of the Reformation. Hidebound Papists wholeheartedly agree!

Thanks for the referral. There is a theme in the media that this time is different, and that liberal Jews are finally ready to see the light, but I have lived a fairly long time. In 1973, I was attending Grant High in Van Nuys, which had a sizable Jewish cohort. When the Egyptians attacked, Grant hosted fundraisers and rallies for Israel, with the Jewish students loudly and proudly proclaiming their undying support for the Jewish state. Richard Nixon immediately leapt in with a blank check for arms and money, and even threatened to nuke the USSR if they didn’t call off their clients. Those Jewish high school students back in 1973 all went on to be (or remain) liberal Democrats, they all cheered Nixon’s impeachment, and of the few that I have been in contact with recently, every one of them thinks Trump is a racist anti-semite. As the great psychologist Lenin understood, whatever you drill into people’s heads in childhood tends to stay with them forever. The only significant cohort of Jews who switched parties (becoming Republicans, but not conservatives or patriots) were the neo-cons, who as a group are not people who make desirable or trustworthy allies. There are of course individuals like Stephen Miller who do not fit the stereotype. But I remember listening to the Larry Elder show back when Steve Miller was a student at Santa Monica High, and he would call in to describe what he was doing to fight what we would now call wokeism. Jews who have been died-in-the-wool liberals their entire lives are not going to change their minds.
Is it that, or is it that three generations of kids have been brought up on Howard Zinn, and taught that regular old White Protestant Americans were all evil racists who never did anything good?

Many would say there are always alternating relatively-liberal and relatively-conservative movements ongoing in any “religion,” however defined. Yeah, the whole California coastline from LA north and the Oregon coast are all beautiful. I’ve been up the CA coastline and in the coast ranges, in Grant’s Pass and Medford, OR, then 2 towns more north on the coast – it’s all nice. However, I left this part out considering it all one of the woke zones – I’m sure one can find a niche of sanity too though.
While I’m at it, I agree with this comment of yours, Rebel Yell.

The woke Left doesn’t know the purpose of the woke ideology. As a result, they will sometimes apply the stated ideology in a way that is contrary to its unstated purpose.
Francis, I’m getting the idea that you have read Strauss & Howe on the generations and the “Fourth Turnings”. They include the Awakening periods (I know they have another term besides “period”, “phase”?), the 2nd of each cycle of High through Crisis. I don’t discount this – they have many examples.
Yeah, there’d be many preachers – in the old timey ones – big movements, etc., going on, sure, but nothing like the violence and loss of a whole decade such as with the Chinese Cultural Revolution from 1966 – ’76.
There was not the loss of 30-40 million lives that Mao caused only a few years earlier (’59-’61), but this next stupidity involved children telling Red Guards on their parents for incorrect thoughts, getting them put on a stage with “large-character posters” denouncing them, pig’s blood poured on them (portending the movie Carrie), and city people being sent off to work and freeze their asses off on pig farms in Manchuria.
It was a whole decade in which Chinese young people got almost no real education, as schools and universities were turned into struggle session venues and places for big rallies … wait, it’s sounding a little familiar … Careers were put on hold, and the economy was in the dumps, not that it had been worth a damn earlier in the reign of the Great Helmsman either …
These “observers” obviously didn’t observe anything from China. To compare it to American Protestant moral values is retarded.
There is a book called Red-Color News Soldier which is a chilling photographic record of that time. The author was a news photographer. The book starts out with relatively mild photos of people being humiliated with dunce caps and such and by the end they are executing people. The photographer at some point realized that he would get caught up in the conflagration so he took pains to hide his negatives and at some point years later smuggled them out to the West. I highly recommend this book as a chilling and authentic historical document of what humans are capable of.
As whites approach minority status, they will almost definitely develop a group identity. Unfortunately it seems to be a long time away from happening

As I think I noted the last time this came up, this is utter nonsense. “Tikkun Olam” in the modern sense was completely foreign to Jewish Burghers of the Netherlands in the 17th century. The Tikkun Olam that was familiar to those Jews was the mystical concept associated with the Kabbalistic system of Rabbi Isaac Luria which revolved around having the proper intent in prayer and the performance of the commandments. For that matter, I would bet that if one drew a Venn diagram of adherents of Lurianic Kabbala and the investors of the Dutch Indies companies who presumably had close connections with the Puritans, there would be little overlap.
The whole ‘Social Gospel’ aspect of modern Tikkun Olam is a product of 19th century Reform Judaism’s ‘Protestant Envy’, they just borrowed the phrase. It’s like using ‘The Gay Nineties’ to prove that Homo-Globo was alive and well in the 19th century.
Are White men really no longer interested in our history? I see plenty of interesting books about White history. The POCs aren’t buying them, so it must be White readers.
Or do book publishers and critics favor Jewish non-fiction authors, just as New York Jewish music and literature critics promoted their co-ethnics starting after WW2? Perhaps there are two separate sets of history readers, White men and everyone else?

In this painting I have always been intrigued by the guy whose lower garments have been looted, leaving him with one sock (Delacroix doesn’t show genitalia but there is a hint of pubic hair). Perhaps a realistic item in a painting often taken as symbolic of the Romantic era. Delacroix had a reputation for depicting cruelty. Slipping in a detail of a looted corpse would have been typical of him.
Many of the elements of Wokism, including the schoolmarm social worker do-gooderism, were rampant in the Anglophone World back when most Jews were still itinerant peddlers and junk dealers.
The poster was complaining about wokism as entirely a Jewish thing. The Angloids needed no outside help to be self-righteous, in everybody else’s business, and with entitled females.
Acting like all this started around 1960 or when the Ost-Juden started getting a tad bit uppity is profoundly ignorant of Angloid history and the revolutionary, millenarian impulses of Angloid Protestantism.

This is a really good point. There is Jewish mythmaking, but they tend to have a much livelier ongoing, intercommunal dialogue and arguments about their past compared to Protestants.
When Protestants do talk about their history and get into it, it’s History Channel dads talking about who ran up what hill at Gettysburg. Intellectual History, including religious history, bores many of them. They take it for granted.
There have been intense debates in the Anglo world and intellectual dialogue, but it’s a far smaller percentage of the population compared to Ashkenazim.
” Jews remain fascinated with their history and write about it, while Protestant Americans have gotten awfully bored with theirs. ”
Jews are fascinated with their history of convincing host nations to become bored with their own history.
Although in the Protestant’s case, it may have been easier: turn on a TV with a black man playing with a ball.

I agree that the forms of 1630 recur throughout American history, but the content surely differs. 2023 neo-Puritans have replaced faith in Jesus as savior (of self and others) with faith in themselves as saviors (i.e. today’s Woke elect see themselves as so inherently special and wonderful that they themselves need no saving, and they’re also so wise and powerful and exalted that they can condescend to ‘save’ those beneath them, i.e. the ‘oppressed’).

During a college football game last Saturday, I watched a long commercial break of about five commercials. The first four were all exclusively featuring blacks or other people of color. And then they introduced the subject of the ad: a bucket of KFC chicken. Of course! It would be racist to have black people in that.

Maybe it could be compared to the witch burnings of Salem. These took place in 1692 so in that sense the Chinese were 3 centuries behind the West. OTOH, only 200 witches were tried in Salem and only 20 witches were executed vs. millions purged in China and a minimum of 1/2 million dead.

The typical individual that’s hired to be the manager of American museums these days are so smug and proud because they’re the holders of degrees in black and soap opera studies. The only problem is that they’re too dumb to realize that the demographic that they dream about going to their museums (negroes) don’t go to museums, have no desire to go to museums, and will never be enticed to go to museums, short of having a gun held to their heads.
Getting rid of white docents and putting in displays that don’t appeal to whites is basically the museum committing suicide, because the only people that go to museums are white and maybe orientals to a lesser extent.

They weren’t witch burnings. Witch burnings were related to religious currents. These were political purges of the kind that have recurred throughout Chinese history. Where persecution is concerned, it is better to give than to receive, so many acted before they were acted upon. Ivan the Terrible wants traitors to be put on the pyre, you hand over your local rivals before they give you up. You could strike at Ivan himself, but that would result in almost certain death for you and yours even if you succeeded, and it’s not exactly easy to get close enough – he *is* the Tsar, and well-protected.

A lot of the Cultural Revolution was bottom up – students acting against their teachers and so on. Mao encouraged it, but the impulses were there. Partly it was generational – these kids had missed out on the actual Revolution and all the actual capitalists were gone so they picked the next best thing. Chinese society had ossified a little in the time since the Revolution and unless they shook things up they had little room for advancement otherwise.

He was also partial to China’s ethnic minorities in the early days– because they would have an additional reason to hate the establishment, and thus make even better revolutionaries. It helped that those minorities constituted four percent of the population at the time (it’s eight now) and were largely limited to the emptier fringe of the land. No threat to the Han.
Whites are seven percent of Namiba’s population, so this should be true there if anywhere. Is it? These people speak four languages– Afrikaans, German, English, and Portuguese. In other words, four separate societies. They will have common interests, but on an ad hoc basis.
