Both however could be better if longer, but are still good given their short allotted time slot.

Both will make you smile, laugh, and cry as are typical Maeda Jun's works

Aside from the opening sung by Lia, the animation by P.A.Works, the original concept by Key, the character design by Na-Ga, the soundtrack by ANANT-GARDE EYES, the director being Jun Maeda, the similar humor, the special abilities premise, and unusual-yet-not-unusual school setting-- I could go on-- Charlotte purely -feels- like Angel Beats! and vice versa, if that's any indication. Both are great to watch.

In charlotte and angel beats both there is (1) a spontaneous and charismatic main girl (2) a glasses guy who serves as the comic relief (3) a clueless main character in the beginning only in charlotte he's more lelouch-esque (4) a lead singer in a girls' band

Same original creator. Also characters' designs were made by the same person, the art style is practically identical. The music was composed by the same creators. The op & ed are performed by the same singers - Lia and Tada Aoi.
Both are about a group od teenagers who have something in common. The action takes place at school, and the MC is a new student.
Charlotte and Angel Beats share the same sense of humor. Also, Charlotte will most likely introduce a fictional singer/band similiar to GirlDeMo in Angel Beats! (Marina, the voice of Iwasawa from Angel Beats! performing an inserted song).

Mosty slice-of-life with a bit of supernatural thrown in, a good amount of comedy, and an action focused last half. While the backgrounds for the main characters may not be addressed during the first few episodes, there's actually a full episode dedicated to establishing Yu and Otonashi later on in their respective anime. Schools are the main settings for these stories, with a group of teenagers being the main focus. While Otonashi and Yu aren't similar at all in terms of initial personality, they have decent development throughout it that can feel about the same in terms of execution, and this is usually right after the episode that details their backstory/background. The endings can also be considered bittersweet. read more

Anime series set in a school with a similar boy and girl MC. Alot of sad pasts and hints for more sadness to come. They both really give out the same vibe with a group who do fun and sad stuff, whatever it is but they'll do it together. They to tend to go out of focus though.

Charlotte and Angel Beats! are very similar to each other. Once you have watched one of them, you need to watch the other. Tomori and Nakaruma both share their leadership roles.  Nakamura is the leader of the SSS and Tomori is the leader of the school council. Otanashi and Otosaka are naive, innocent characters, who are at first clueless of what they are doing, and pulled and dragged along by their fellow girl leaders. Memory loss... Retrograde amnesia, is what both Otanashi and Otosaka have. They overcome this by encountering certain things that trigger their memory to remembering the past which they have forgotten. It works for a sense of buildup and suspense.  read more

They have a lot in common! Both manga series are made by the same artist Komowata Haruka,  Charlotte's director and Charlotte's sound director worked on Angel Beats! Finally in history, the character will also attend a special school where students have supernatural powers.

Same writer for both shows. Students at a weird school with supernatural powers. The characters, art, and writing are all pretty similar which is to be expected since the same guy wrote them. Good mixture of comedy and feels for both.

Both shows are directed by the same director, so a lot of the influences of Angel Beats transfer over into Charlotte. They have similar humor and the premise of a school with ability users. They honestly just give off the same feel when I watched them. These are honestly both great shows to consider watching!

I don't know why but this Anime just came into mind immediately. School setting. A lot of sad background stories. Student council. Special powers. Both Anime give you the same kind of feel but I'd say Angel Beats goes way deeper in the feel section.

Charlotte and Angel Beats, both animes have a protagonist who joins a group charged with combating a conspiracy (AB is God and in Charlotte are the experiments). Where the leader is manipulative, one believes himself an idol and another is the senpai. Both series involve the fact that the characters acquire a supernatural aspect, be it powers (Charlotte) or be dead (Angel Beats). The series shows the multiple plans to fulfill its mission, where the majority happens in a comic way, to the point that the series does not need to be fun and shows a different background to show the dark past of the protagonist, and a radical change, when the enjoy being with your friends becomes the fear of losing them. read more

There are similar references and situations in both, and they generally have the same "feel" to it. They both have great music, which plays an important part to the plot at some parts. But although both of them have comedic moments and sometimes lowkey ridiculous gags, Charlotte is definitely more serious and maybe even a little bit "dark" towards the ends.

Charlotte is made by the same people who gave us Angel Beats! 
Both use similar vivid animation styles and just give off the same general feel you'll get while watching the other. It's hard to explain, but lets say despite the rather different stories, Charlotte is more or less a carbon copy of Angel Beats! with a new plot and new characters.

Both have sad backgrounds, characters are quite similar, the art is somewhat alike, there is great drama, both the main characters have white/silver hair, and there are super powers in both. If you like super powers and drama, you might like Charlotte.

Bedsides just the fact that both series have been written by the same person, designed and animated by the same producers, what makes these series so similar?

First of all, they're both Great comedy series with deep substance. Both got just the right amount of humor that anyone is sure to enjoy.
And besides that, they're of the most exciting series ever. Both of some fast pacing and only you're in, it's like a rollercoaster. You can't stop watching once you start. There's many reference to AB! in Charlotte too.

While they're different in the theme and mood, they've got some deep hidden themes. While Angel Beats! focuses on the meaningfulness of life , Charlotte's hidden massage lies in the power of courage. If you can understand those, they're sure to become your most favorite series ever.

The writing style of these two are very similar, mixing in good comedic moments, decent action, and slife of life genericisms,with dark elements that while dont perfectly blend; still compliment eachother. Add in a decent amuont of emotional tension from the previous episodes and all youre mising is a romantic subplot.

They have a similar feel to it. 

Angel Beats starts off sort of silly but with a paranormal twist to it. Even  thought it sounds like it could get serious, it mostly tries to keep a focus on the comedy side. Still it gets dark and sad at times, but it tries to balance them out.

Charlotte also has a similar start. There are mostly jokes and fun times at the start, but things get more serious as the story progresses. The difference is that once the seriousness starts, there aren't many comedic moments afterwards.

Still, both series are quiet entertaining to watch with their mix of supernatural and daily lifestyle combined. If you liked Angel Beats there is a chance you might like Charlotte and vice versa.  read more

Both Charlotte and Angel Beats! are great anime, each in their own right. For Angel Beats!, I recommend giving it at least 3 episodes before deciding whether to continue or drop it.

I found Charlotte and Angel Beats! to be extremely similar. They're both original works by Jun Maeda, and are both by the studio PA Works, so it's no wonder why they turned out like that.

Everything except the premises, the basic plot lines, of these two shows are practically identical. Art, animation, characters, comedy, pacing, aesthetic, music, supernatural elements... going back to the characters, I'm pretty sure Charlotte's cast is basically a bunch of carbon copies of Angel Beats! characters minus a few people. 

Now, personally I hated both of these shows, so if you dislike one, you more than likely are going to dislike the other as well.
But if you like one, then you'll probably like the other as well. Probably. Although I'd say Charlotte's giant gaping plot holes and inconsistencies are less noticeable than Angel Beats!'s.

Both shows have a similar artstyle and (personally) I find them very pretty. The story is deep in both cases, and you just want to watch more of it. Also, both anime have a "good" ending, as you don't mind the story finishing there. Lastly, these two series have many different characters, and a love story which isn't ecchi or harem (FINALLY!).

They're written by the same writers, the female protagonist looks exactly like Angel, protagonist has a sappy back story, high school setting, music inserted via a pop idol + pop rock band, tsundere protagonist who's bossy, leader of the group, misunderstood and hence disliked by others, lonely.... does this sound like anybody else? Yeah, she's a mish-mash of Yuki and Angel.

Loads of other similarities too, including how the series jumps from comedy to drama to loads of other things I can't mention because I don't want to spoil the series.

so watching these, you might not catch it at first but the animes have the same atmosphere. A group of kids trying to make it by while still having that kind of sad feel to it, it's made by the same person so that's also probably why it has the same feel. But do check it out if you havent already. The anime is great, also has a nice story to it

I'm not telling you that both theses shows are the same because the opening has the same animation quality, the opening music brings the same feelings, the set-up is the same, the character set-up is the same, the cruel world in which they live in is cruel, the characters have tragic pasts, the characters from both shows have a lot in common, the art style is the same and the plot twists brings the same feelings
but yeah, I'm telling you that both these shows are the same.

I did not like both of these anime due to how messy their stories were, but if you like to watch stuff that might as well make you cry, smile, and laugh, then check both of them out. They were made by the same writer, Maeda Jun.

You like music? Good.

Angel beats is about a load of young people who were killed. For some reason they were tormented, and forced to live forever in a high school. In this, they set themselves a target for the biggest bullies who ever died. Bullying this young girl who doesn't communicate well with others, they force her to develop new ways to manipulate her body for defense.

In the anime, these stubborn children refuse to come to terms with their deaths and move on. It isn't until very late in the anime when they are forced to give up immortality that they actually move on. Up till that point, you are allowed to enjoy some of the most heart warming scenes ever put into an anime, as well as one of the best soundtracks.

Charlotte tells of a boy with powers who meets other adolescents with powers. In the end it resorts to time travel. These kids, with fantastic abilities, are hunted down and tested on like lab rats for being special. As a result, the main character and pals try to save the others.

The anime has a lot of good music in it, and has a few episodes that focus a lot on the band that you'll probably forget the name of after watching Angel Beats. Z something or the other.... Anyway the lead singer is blind. The anime uses impairments a fair bit as a way of getting you to feel for a characters situation. One of the side characters is mentally unstable, and only Z's music can calm him down. The power of music!

So if you like music with a side story of action, then these two anime are well worth watching. read more

Impacted with the idea of supernaturalism, both are original stories written by Jun Maeda with similarities alike to one another. While they started off as lighthearted comedies with a tinge of silliness, the group of teenagers will have to face emotional turmoils leading up to drama, action, and subtle romance. Backed by a beautiful quality in audiovisual, these two are the manifestation of a touching tale.

These two anime have the same atmosphere, I would say. They both involve a male main protagonist who is thrown into a new situation he is mostly unfamiliar with, and forms bonds with the other characters. Both of these anime teach important lessons about what to value in life.

It also is one of the reasons why I'm an organ donor ;)

Both series are created by the fabulous Jun Maeda, are adapted from Key visual novels, supernatural and school setting, features a main character with silver hair (Angel & Nao), and the series opening and ending were sung by Lia and Aoi Tada, respectively.

Many of the creators and staff behind Angel Beats went on to create Charlotte, so there are many similarities—some of the same character archetypes (Takajou is literally Takamatsu in terms of appearance and same voice actor); a supernatural anime that primarily takes place at a school and kinda has slice-of-life-ish episodes; a group of students at said school being lead by a girl with a serious attitude; an interesting blend of comedy, drama, and action; music, etc... honestly I could go on, if you've seen one of these, go ahead and try the other.

Angel beats and charlotte have the same structure: the first half of the show is comedy based and the second one is drama based. I found Charlotte much more clearer to follow and better in general terms. It had a stronger impact on me than Angel Beats

Another creation of Maeda Jun sensei  which can make anyone cry like a baby. A plot and the stroy of evry individual characters is well established and nicely placed. The whole anime is heart warming with amazing soundtracks and the ending has a different feel to it.

Class of the preternatural. Angel Beats and Charlotte follow abnormal schools in which the MCs all spend time together as well as helping one another out during these times.

With AB, uninformed Otonashi is teleported into a school located in the Afterlife. With Charlotte, Yuu is sent to Hoshinoumi Academy, an academy with teenagers having special powers. Both anime present Otonashi's and Yuu's time with their allocated groups learning about different people's values in life.

Both are pleasing heartwarming comedic anime with a side of supernatural elements and drama by the same creator Jun Maeda.

I was surprised by the fact that in this anime, they went to a kissaten (store) and in this kissaten (store) you can see in the background that there's a poster of the anime angel beats, this is almost and advertisement saying that if you've watched this anime you most watch angel beats.
Both of these animes have really sad things and great musics/songs, graphics and everything else that you can imagine! This anime make you feel really connected with every character of the anime, this is the same for Angel Beats and Berserk for example, it's impossible not to cry!

And in the top of all, they also play an music that's from the anime angel beats"

If you've watched Angel Beats I know that you are eager and angry wishing and wanting and waiting for the next season, and this anime will make you feel the all these feelings, in the same way, for the exactly same reason!
This anime can and will make you feel sad!

Also like in Angel Beats, this anime has a focus, actually is a lot of focus in the making of another japanese band, totally original and unique like the band in the anime Angel Beats called Girls dead monster, but in this anime the band name zhiend, that is also really good, I'm not even sure if I can say that both bands are in the same level or not, I really need to stop everything to hear again the musics of the band zhiend to know it. read more

Angel Beats! and Charlotte come from the same creative team. Both follow a group of teenagers in a paranormal setting, Angel Beats being set in the Afterlife and Charlotte being set in a world where some teenagers gain superpowers upon entering puberty. They are similarly structured, being filled with comedy and wacky characters. If you loved Angel Beats, there's a high chance you'll like Charlotte.

Charlotte is drama-action anime that doesn't show it's full "power" at the beginning.
In the first ~8 episodes the anime is already good but the end is the insane and lovely part. It's the same at Angel Beats!, at the beginning they show you a normal good anime but then it totally changes and becomes totally interesting.
In general i think this anime is a must-watch, if you haven't watched it yet, do it!

Both have energetic leaders and lead a team which works to fulfill a particular goal.
Both have bands and though the leaders of these bands appear for a brief period of time, they play a vital role and have a greater impact later in the whole series
Leaders of the team in both anime have a sad past.

These two gave me the same feels as I dig deeper into the episodes. At the end, I did cry but got me wondering the time I re-watch both on why I cried? LOL! but both are good for newbies, well that's my opinion. Not too heavy, not too shallow.

Since both works involve the same creator, Jun Maeda, and are produced by studio P.A. Works, there are several themes and elements that make these two anime similar, despite having different storylines.
They are known for their touching and emotional plots, offering heartwarming and dramatic moments. Angel Beats! explores themes of regret and unfulfilled desires in life, while Charlotte portrays the main character's challenging journey in using his powers.

Main character possesses the power to control people using his eyes, both powers require eye contact and are somewhat restricted.
Said powers are used mainly to achieve MC's selfish goals, sometimes disregarding all the consequences.
Other people are able to use powers of their own, however they are different from the MC's.
Both main character are very theatrical and use excessive gestures.
Annoying sister is only a cherry on top.

Charlotte is code geass version with no action, mecha, armors, geass, sci-fi, immortal girl, politics war, pizza girl (oh leave it), and some idealism inside..
beside it, both have strange girl, main hero with a badass-evil and fake smile with the power in their eyes (also the power isn't same), cool-but-baka partners/friends, super power, good strategy/tactics (i'm think code geass is more of tactics), and drama that can drop your tears ..
With the different and similarities from both series, we can conclude that Charlotte is Slice of life and reality version of Code geass with less tactics and strange heroine.

Although Code Geass and Charlotte have vastly different plots, both MCs, Lelouch and Yuu obtain a superpower to control other people by will.

With Yuu spiralling down due to abuse of power. And Lelouch using this power to defeat Britannia. They both pair up with a female peer to help. C.C. helps Lelouch on his quest, whilst Nao tries to make Yuu become a better person. Both Lelouch and Yuu have a sister they are willing to protect at any cost as well.

With Code Geass being an epic mix of action, mecha, military and drama. Charlotte is for lighter tastes being a drama with slow romance. Both set in a school. read more

Similar looking MCs with similar abilities about controlling people they even have the glowy eye when they use their abilities and they both go through their edgy phase, and I'd say Code Geass is infinitely better than Charlotte in terms of writing and overall enjoyability

Both share a main character with similar ideologies, (although one comes later then another) and main characters share a similar ability. Each has unique relationships between characters, Code Geass is stronger on the world building side of things, and Charlotte is on the stronger side of action and creativeness with abilities.

Ok, first, both anime have characters who have "powers". At Seishun buta Yarou this powers are more invented. But it's about the message, not about the very fact of "powers"

Both anime revolve around supernatural activities and powers. In both anime the protagonist helps everyone with their problems. Both have a school setting.

A preternatural experience, both Charlotte and Bunny Girl Senpai both follow MCs who are caught up in having to aid other students dealing with social issues in a supernatural sense.

Charlotte uses superpowers as a base, where the student council has students with superpowers join Hoshinoumi Academy as well as helping with their social problems. Bunny Girl Senpai doesn't feature superpowers, rather, students with Puberty Syndrome are helped by Sakuta and sometimes Mai.

Both are good supernatural anime where Charlotte has a slower romance than Bunny Girl Senpai.

Both of these anime talk about the problems and issues that come with puberty and growing up. They include literal powers that arise, but also mental and emotional topics as well. Both the main characters find themselves thrown into a situation they'd never think they would be able to help in, but it ends up being the opposite.

Charlotte and Seishun Buta Yarou are both shows following the story of a group a teenagers with some supernatural ''abilities'' that are only present during one's teenage years. The characters are also pretty similar. First of all, for the role of the protagonist we have an average high-school student that is kind of edgy and doesn't have a lot of friends. That protagonist also has a little sister which is... Well you know... An anime little sister... And finally, both shows have an amazing and heart warming romantic plot.

Both shows are very similar, they both involve a form of adolescence syndrome (which causes supernatural events to happen to a teenagers) where the main character has to go solve different cases. Both have a lot of drama with a romantic subplot, but the syndromes are treated a bit differently. In Bunny Girl Senpai, they are manifestations of the psychological struggles of puberty, while in Charlotte they actor more like powers caused by a disease.

These are quite different shows tonally, so the enjoyment of both shows would mainly rely on one's enjoyment of watching high school kids using super powers. These shows both are set in a high school full of super-powered teens. It's always entertaining to see the different techniques characters use to apply their powers to a situation, and how two or more characters' powers interact with each other. With these powers also comes the theme of the pressure these characters face by being thrust into difficult situations that kids their age in our universe would never have to deal with.

Both anime have the concept of “superpowers” but they see it in different lights. In Boku no Hero, it's not a sickness and it's more common. Instead of it being looked down upon, people idolize those with good superpowers. If you want to see a kid fighting for his dreams, Boku no Hero is for you. You end up really rooting and feeling for the main character.

Well, if you know what both of these shows are about, it's pretty obvious what these shows have in common. I'm far from the first person to make this recommendation. But, while the shows are very different in tone, and liking one is not a very good guarantee you will like the other, the simple plot point that these shows share is enough to justify this recommendation. In both shows some people have superpowers. Charlotte is not a superhero anime, but the characters do have superpowers. Beware though, Charlotte is a bit darker than Hero Aca. Wait... no that show can be very dark sometimes. So actually they're similar even in that regard. read more

Both featured children with superpowers (Specail Abilities for Charlotte and Quirks for MHA) and high school setting. The difference is that in Charlotte, their powers are classified as a disease because in My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia is considered a gift.

Kids with powers in high school. Boku no Hero Academia is more child focused as Charlotte is more mature. If you appreciate how the powers are used in one of the anime, you would like the other as well.

Class of abnormal students. Charlotte and My Hero Academia are both anime about students with superpowers, working together in a class to help others out.

Charlotte has Yuu and the student council go out of their way to find teenagers who abuse their powers and bring them to Hoshinoumi Academy to help them out. MHA is about people with quirks, and Midoriya's journey to help those in need in order to become the best hero.

Both are nice anime with Charlotte featuring slow romance, whilst MHA features action

The core elements are what obviously link the two animes. Lovely optimistic characters, good story line with dramatic depth twist and humor. Steins gate got it all. Charlotte is good but not as detailed as steins gate is with double the amount of episodes. So if you enjoyed Charlotte you might get a really lucky find with steins gate. 
But otherway round also works ;P

Steins:Gate focuses on time traveling itself and Charlotte on kids with powers. In Charlotte however is also a little bit attention to time traveling.

What makes these anime similar is that it takes itself a bit serious and that the story is set up as choice driven. Choices made have impact on the story and outcome. Both anime has a rather grim mid episode but end up in a hopeful note.

Recently rewatched Charlotte, and while it won't live up to the hype of Steins;Gate, it is a short show that may help fill the void of being done with Steins;gate. Full of plot twists, suspense, sci-fi, and similar character development, Charlotte is almost like a mini-Steins;Gate.

In Charlotte, however, the abilities are all different and are used on a voluntary basis. In Kokoro Connect, the abilities the club receives are not voluntary.

If you like high school 'drama' and supernatural elements such as powers and abilities, Charlotte may interest you just as much as Kokoro Connect did!

They're surrounded by supernatural things. Both of them are bunch of high schoolers and their power basically were given to make everything better. They are funny and cute plus their ending were so unpredictable. If you like supernatural love comedy, you should watch them. I prefer Kokoro Connect btw.

Kokoro Connect is centered around a group of teenagers and their relationships that are manipulated by random supernatural events, but the characters of Charlotte are in the driver's seat of their abilities. A diverse set of characters with powerful (and sometimes comical) abilities makes Charlotte a great watch for those who enjoyed Kokoro Connect and its subtle supernatural, high school mystery style.

The main difference between the two shows is in Kokoro Connect, the characters seemingly have no control over their abilities while the characters in Charlotte somewhat have control over their powers. Charlotte and Your Name are both anime about high schoolers getting some kind of supernatural ability, and there seem to be a bond formed between the main characters as the story goes on, despite their harsh first impressions. There is also a comet, and both anime feel like they are pumped with a lot of elements that kinda make them feel more like complete packages.

A pair starting from low, ending at a high. Your Name and Charlotte are both very different anime, though, they hold the similarity of a male and female pair and their time to grow together.

Charlotte has Yuu and Nao who have to work together to help others, with Your Name having Mitsuha and Taki and their abnormal body swaps, leading them to search for one another.

Both are good supernatural slow romance anime dealing with students.

the similarities between these two anime is that they have memories lost. If you like Erased because of the unexpected events, I would greatly recommend Charlotte as there are also many unsuspected events that happened and is very enjoyable to watch.

A special one creates a plot twist. Though Charlotte and Erased are very different from one another, without going into too much detail, both anime have a plot twist which is in relation to someone special, consequently both anime react in the same way to resolve this twist.

With Charlotte being a slow romance dealing with students with superpowers, Erased is a dark murder mystery in which, tries to show people why they are special.

Both animes have a main character who starts out as lonely and doesn’t have very many friends, but in the end they grow to have close friends around them. They both are pretty sad and involve changing the past/future. There are lots of similarities, and I guarantee that if you like one then you like the other.

Charlotte is charming, in its own way. If only it just expanded more and dug deeper. It could have beaten the competition easily. But well, too late for that. It’s still a good anime, and that’s why I’m putting it here.
The events of the plot are in a time loop. And as you probably know, time travel always leads to surprising twists! Charlotte was decent, but you may not find it as satisfying as ERASED.

Both  center around a group of psychical-ability wielders who disguises themselves as a group of high-school students that take part on various activities, under the name of SOS Brigade and Hoshinoumi's Student Council. Both groups are composed of similar characters : socially-outcast girl who leads the group, reluctant MC and his cute little sister,  etc.

Haruhi tries to find them to recruit them into her club, while Nao for the sake of securing them from evil scientists.

Both are anime focusing on teenagers who are members of a group investigating supernatural phenomenon. They both have a lot of the same elements like science-fiction, comedy, slice-of-life and conspiracy, as well as several characters with similar personalities:

Kyon====>Yuu- Cynical, sarcastic, and have a younger sister who annoys them but whom they love regardless.

Haruhi====>Nao- Bossy leaders of the group who aren't above using blackmail to achieve their goals.

Itsuki====>Joujiro- The other guy in the group, who are generally friendlier and more cheerful than the main character but get on their nerves for one reason or another.

Mikuru====>Yusa- Cheerful, orange-haired girls who have an unexpected side to them.

an anime where a main character who gets dragged into a supernatural group  lead by a weird girl  sounds like Charlotte and  Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya to me...the MC at first has qualms about it but slowly gets used to them..   the weird girl who leads this club    can like Haruhi get loud and obnoxious
there's also a cute girl who's like a less shy version of mikuru asahina   the way she's like mikuru is by being cute  when in her main personality...theres a character that is vaguely like yuki nagato but only because he wears glasses but personality wise he's like Itsuki koizumi  and also there's a character who i guess you could say is like a male version of yuki nagato mainly by being serious and stoic most of  the time ....these characters set lut on adventures and often get into crazy and akward misadventures synonymous with dorky comedy    though charlotte has a more tragic twist while Haruhi Suzumiya is more mystery and scifi read more

In both animes there's a strange and quiet girl bullies a completely random but normal boy, and forces him to join her club in which they'll look around for supernatural and unusual things. The characters are alike, and story is somewhat similiar.

In both series, there are high school students dealing with the supernatural. In both, there is an eccentric female main character. Though Suzumiya is better than Charlotte because it does not go over the top. Its main element of charm is in its dealing with supernatural in a normal manner.

While they may not seem super similar in terms of plot, Guilty Crown features a male protagonist that winds up with an ability he does not know the full extent of, just as in Charlotte. Both use these abilities to save many people. In Charlotte, abilities are the norm while in Guilty Crown, 'voids' (manifestations of one's soul/heart) is the norm. The main characters both use others' abilities/voids to their advantage to help others. Both take place in a high school setting. 

If you loved the supernatural elements, thrill and hero protagonist in Charlotte, you'll love Guilty Crown!

Many have complaints about the character development and overall plot of Guilty Crown, so I believe Charlotte is an anime that takes the same formulas but works them together much better. Although Charlotte's protagonist, Yuu Otosaka, is fairly OP, he has a few more checks and balances than Guilty Crown's Ouma Shu. Despite not being entirely scientifically accurate, the backstory of Charlotte is also more plausible and flushed out than Guilty Crown. The leading lady Nao Tomori is also far less submissive and annoying than Yuzuriha Inori. Even so, the character development in Charlotte is not any more spectacular than Guilty Crown, but it's still tolerable. The animation is just as good, though not as sci-fi or shiny as Guilty Crown, but the fight scenes are also well-done, nonetheless. read more

Guilty Crown and Charlotte share a similar concept in which the main character has the power to use other peoples' "abilities". Both characters are forced into similar situations, and also display extreme pressure in taking the heavy role of "saving the world". Both anime have amazing visuals, however, they lack in the plot development and construct department, so be prepared for another disappointment.

Charlotte starts off like most Key series.  A lighthearted beginning with a forced tragic ending. It even has an innocent naive girl (Yusa) common in all Key series.  You will see similar themes in Madoka Magica: innocent girls with seemingly funny stories in the beginning but becomes tragic in the end.  However the folks at Key seemed to copy the plot of Madoka into this show.  I won't reveal any spoilers but involves having the main character saving those who face potential anguish.  Essentially taking in the burdens of others for themselves becoming a Christ-like figure.

Both of these shows explore the realm of saving people (that's all I can without spoiling). The love between each of the characters is definitely and visibly what drives them. Both of these show also explore the duality of hope and despair, although Madoka Magica does it on a much more contrasting manner.

The music of both anime is quite amazing, and although the art style is different, both are refreshing in their own ways (with Madoka being more abstract and Charlotte being more "normal").

If you enjoyed one, chances are you'll enjoy the other!

Charlotte is about a group of high school students who manifest superpowers during adolescence. They search for other teenagers who abuse their powers and persuade them to cease using their powers. Like Madoka Magica, Charlotte focuses on the unexpected consequences that come with having superpowers. They both are anime that present as cheery and lighthearted, but have very serious and heavy moments that catch the viewer off-guard.

A supernatural venture with a plot twist. Charlotte and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are both about children who obtain powers, in which doing so, leads to a dark truth behind them.

Charlotte has students with superpowers enrolled in a high school based on those powers. While PMMM has girls become Magical Girls to fight against witches.

Without slipping too much detail, both anime give a massive similar plot twist, in stories supernatural elements and drama.

Sagrada Reset focuses comes across as much more dialogue based and serious, whereas Charlotte is more light-hearted and focuses more on light comedy and humor. If you like one you will probably like the other.

the Mc's both have a scarily similar feel to them; honestly it feels like i'm watching the same character but in a different anime. 
they also give a very relaxing feel mixed with supernatural elements that make the shows unique and easy to watch and enjoy.

Honestly, this recommendation is worth making for the show's protagonists alone. Not only do Yuu and Seiya look pretty much identical, and have the same seiyu, but they're both very intelligent yet egotistical teenagers who end up getting strong-armed by a girl into helping a group of people, and they ultimately yet reluctantly accept, though overtime they grow to genuinely care about the people they're trying to help. Nao and Isuzu also have somewhat similar appearances, though personality-wise, they're very different.

While "Charlotte" doesn't have any particular advantages over "Amagi", I will say that I preferred it overall, though both are at least watchable.

Charlotte and Amagi Brilliant Park have the same kind of vibe about it, and both animes have some connection with a form of supernatural power about each other.

MC starts off being dragged into something he'll never get out of, next thing you know he drags himself deeper because of another characters statements.

Kids with powers, but it isn't centered around the powers, it is centered around it user.
While Charlotte is more edgy and looks at the powers from a cynical perspective to progress it characters,
Inou-Battle focuses on comedy and chuuni to develop it characters.
Both shows are more mature than they seem and the animation quality are both good.
There are some satisfying plot twists and there are good dialogues.

The Day I Became A God and Charlotte are two anime created by Jun Maeda of Key (a company known for Kanon, Air, Clannad, and Little Busters) fame and produced by P.A. Works. The visual presentation in both shows feel similar to each other, which is probably because they are both directed by Yoshiyuki Asai. Both anime are about a boy with dark hair meeting a girl who has a somewhat smug personality and is voice acted by Ayane Sakura. A character from Charlotte even makes a cameo in one episode.

Early powers. Charlotte and Kamisama both follow individuals with powers that which normal people do not possess. 

With Charlotte creating the power as a physicality, compared to Kamisama in the form of all-knowing knowlegde.

Both are good anime with funny moments and sad scenes to tug on your heartstrings made by the same creator Jun Maeda.

Both shows focus on people who were born with or acquired special abilities.
Both main protagonists of each show had dark and sad pasts and they're trying to overcome them by stopping those who abuse their special abilities and saving those who posses similar powers also from normals and their fellow people.
They also had bad encounters and experiences with scientists who want to experiment their abilities.
Anyway, what makes both of these shows different from each other is that in Charlotte their abilities are temporary until they reach a certain part of their life when it is no longer there while on the other hand, the potential Minimum Holders in Hamatora have to have their abilities tested or have their triggers identifies to be recognize with such position or title.  read more

Hamatora is a mix of supernatural, comedy and some mystery. Charlotte is exactly that there are funny part there are serious part. Hamatora also features a small ability known as minimum which is much similar to ability used in Charlotte (A Small ability which come with its own limitation). Hamatora and Re: Hamatora follows a somewhat darker storyline which charlotte only have towards the end.

There are people with supernatural abilities, but that's not the reason I think you'd like Charlotte if you liked Hamatora and vice versa. Both series start as light-hearted comedies - Hamatora as a random action-comedy and Charlotte as an episodic slice-of-life comedy where the characters help out other people with powers, not entirely unlike Natsume Yuujinchou. But eventually, both animes turn pretty dark, while still maintaining comedy elements. Overall, Hamatora is longer and more focused on action and excitement than Charlotte, which has more drama in it. If you like captivating and emotional stories that still crack a few jokes throughout the dark plotlines, these two (or three, because Hamatora consists of two seasons and the second season is what really made it as great as it is) deserve a place on your list. read more

After a certain phenomenon, humans who developed supernatural abilities are starting to appear. Some are able to control it, some aren't, some use it for misdeeds. 
Main characters and co. go after them to prevent more chaos. 

Although Charlotte has more comedic start while DtB have more stoic-ish feel, both shows are pretty dark.

The common plot key:
At the start of both, they create a bubble-like comfy environment (or maybe a comfort zone)   {*}  within which all the happenings occur. Meaning that though U will be intrigued, but you'll know in the corner of ur mind that the mc & the side characters won't be in any life danger... Like remember how the group was solving simple cases at the start in Charl? Likewise, here u'll see a group, which more or less acts like each other's leash from going astray and solve some basic conspiracies and stuff, not really important but needed for character backgrounds. 
But, at the near end, U will see that very bubble burst open, revealing and leading to a deeper plot which will collude with what you expected earlier from the show, giving a sense of character insecurity and unpredictability...

And, both mc's show development in their personalities as the series progresses.

Also to be noted, both feature selective people with sudden power rising and a city/region/world in turmoil because of those existences.

Me personally, I find them alike since they give me a longing that there were 20+ more eps in between the start and ending plot, like they would continue what they were always doing as a side-job kinda, meeting new people, new short side-stories, etc. like just continue and not end...  {*}

both elfen lied and charlotte have  a multi personality girl   though one is a main character while the other is a side character  but never the less the same deal as far as personality  switching between cute and badass......both the main character in EL and the main character in Charlotte  deal with amnesia...many characters in this have a dark and/or traumatic pass....these people like Lucy have supernatural abilities and are always terrorized by a lab that wants to treat them like lab rats   and are trying to avoid being captured. both main characters tragically lose a family member.. read more

Charlotte and Beyond the Boundary are both anime with a male protagonist who has some kind of supernatural ability meeting a somewhat stern girl who socially isolates herself and has an ability of her own. In fact, nearly the whole cast of characters have supernatural abilities and the few supporting characters that both shows spend a lot of time on are students from the protagonist's school. Both anime also have a somewhat episodic structure up until some serious drama comes up and some slow hints of romance.

Now, Charlotte and Gosick aren't the most similar in terms of plot. However, their duos are somewhat very similar. Constant bickering, cute moments, the need for both to be with one another, it is the whole package in two separate worlds.

Charlotte is about a school of teenagers with superpowers, having to live separated from the outside world in comparison to the isolationist that is Victorique using her odd skill to solve mysteries. I suppose both anime have an element of helping hand in them too.

Not in the same genre, time, or any technical similarities, but they are both good stories that tend to have a lasting memory on an individual.

at first, I think its not really similar, its just similar in both hero evil laugh. But when i watch 8 eps of charlotte, i discover that some characters are too similar like Nao + Yusarin = Misa, Yuu = Light (in some case they're similar) and many more ..
and do you know? Some scene in this both  are similar if u watched carefully ..
both hero are very potential to rule the world with his power (Yuu with his looting power and Light with his death note). But with these powers too, sometime both characters will looks like the antagonist..
In Death note, you'll be served with a mind-battle and more strategy and Charlotte delivers a struggling-against fate show ... read more

I think it's similar because it has alot of characters in it with different powers and/or weapons and that they have something important that they have to do together.

There are many funny moments as well as many sad stories of each featured character in both animes. [ AgK has more of them]

The music of both anime is quite amazing, and although the art style is a little bit different, both are refreshing in their own ways

Tokyo Ghoul addpermalink

Charlotte really reminded me of both seasons of Tokyo Ghoul combined. From the way in which certain group are targeted (sometimes in a very cruel way) for what they are and how the main character tries to take the burden of putting an end to that on himself. I found the Ken/Touka and Nao/Yuu relationships to be quite similar. Also both anime had at times a sad/desperate/tragic tone to them.

These two animes are fun to watch for anyone that likes to see the creativity behind said superpowers, and who like unconventional battles, as well as for those who like animes with a strong focus on the meaning of family.

Golden Time is a little bit like Charlotte, only superpowers exist. In some relational sense, both Golden Time and Charlotte is an unexpected encounter which snowballs into something bigger, in which, said counter also has a protagonist who is more special than initially meets the eyes. The heated and the special end up giving themselves the time of their lives making memories and other emotionally responsive moments required to bring the audience to tears or sadness, something like that. 

Whatever the deal, both are good rom-coms you should take with you if you are dead set with the genre, as many will point out some irregularities and creases that hinder the absolute praise for the two series. Nevertheless, still good stuff from both.

Unparalleled class. Both Charlotte and Assassination Classroom follow groups of calm and eccentric students teaming together for the good of their kind.

Assassination Classroom does this with the students of class 3-E training to become the best assassins in order to stop Koro-sensei from destroying the world. Charlotte does this with the student council having to stop superpowered teens form abused their powers for their own good.

Both are good comedy anime that gets pretty deep when it needs to. Assassination Classroom is an action compared to the drama of Charlotte. All in a school environment.

These two anime give pretty much the same vibe, except that Charlotte is much more serious, while SHnY is more comedic and intricate plot-wise.

The selfish can change. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Charlotte both follow selfish protagonists who use their powers for their own convenience.

TokiKake has Makoto and her time travel powers to help her with regular day stuff. Charlotte has Yuu and his mind control ability abused to do whatever the hell he wants.

Both are good romance anime where the ones you don't think you are super close to, are the ones who have the greatest impact on one.

First, let's examine the similarities:
- Small communities of users with superhuman abilities being targeted by organizations.
- MCs are OP, probably the strongest within their groups.
- MCs have the emotional support and teamwork from a close group of comrades.

Despite sharing similar themes, both shows have very different initial tones.
Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited starts off with a bang, showing a psychic terrorist group raiding facilities across the world.
Charlotte starts off on a gentler note, showing how school children use their special abilities across daily life in hilarious ways.
The contrast makes both series complement each other in refreshing ways.

Both have an abnormal story setting. Also the characters have very similar properties. However there are some differences such as the genre types of supernatural for Glasslip and super power for Charlotte, or the character development such as for Charlotte they use singular character development and for Glasslip they use multi character development. But, overall there are many more similarities than differences. If you liked Charlotte you'll probably like Glasslip if your into the whole supernatural genre.

Like Noragami, Charlotte features characters with special abilities. In Noragami the characters are gods and phantoms, the characters in Charlotte are more like superheroes. But both series have a serious storyline with very comedic situations mixed in. Both are blends of drama and comedy.

If you have a desire for more special ability children in high school.  Nerawareta is the weaker link in my own personal opinion.  Both of these can be frustrating for some people who dislike too much Drama but well worth the watch regardless.

Both Charlotte and Mawaru Penguindrum involve teenagers who are somewhat special and get caught up in a lot of supernatural stuff. They center on orphaned brothers who go to great lengths to protect their younger sisters, with the younger sisters being cute and innocent as well as the caretakers of the household. While Mawaru Penguindrum is much more surreal and utilizes a lot of symbolism, Charlotte is shorter and more direct with its premise. However, both anime gave me a similar emotional feeling and if you watch both, you'll definitely see a lot more thematic similarity that I won't go into detail with because of spoilers. read more

Both shows' main selling points are their focus on painful, powerful emotional impact that progresses through the shows.
Both shows have impressive, consistent production quality throughout.
Both shows have drama and action.
Both shows have one critical failure area that stops the show from being as great as it is capable of being. In the case of Charlotte, the failure is pacing. In the case of 86, the failure is extremely unrealistic, forced plot developments in order to make the show "happier")

Bungou Stray Dogs 2nd Season addpermalink

Charlotte and Bungou Stray Dogs (BSD) 2nd Season are both about people with supernatural abilities trying to find justice. Although both have comic relief, they both weave in darker elements involving the main characters' backgrounds. Also the main characters of Charlotte share a bit of Dazai's OP-ness. However, Charlotte has quite a bit of romance, unlike BSD, but overall I put them both in high regard.

These 2 worlds have an aspect of magic, even though Charlotte has more uses of the powers in their universe, Zetsuen also implements magic really well. 
The MC's are both men who have lost someone before (a bit different in Charlotte's case though) Zetsuen has a completely different story and the way magic / powers are used but I really enjoyed it.
It does get confusing however it is worth the watch (both feature romance to some degree but I feel that Zetsuen has more romance in it)
I'd also like to recommend to watch Zetsuen as it really makes you think, then the typical supernatural / magical anime. Though you can guess plot lines as it can be quite generic at some points however I feel the story has a good strong plot to it that isn't so similar to Charlotte however it does give off some nostalgia in some areas such as art and visuals. read more

Pritty much anime any with Supernatural is bound to have something like superpowers. So this is an anime that tells an interesting story of a boy with superpowers meeting other character with superpowers. It starts off slow and funny, however after the mid part it begins to really show it's strong points. The opening is AMAZING IMO. The characters are actually interesting and the sittuations they run in-to are kind of average but the way they handle them is diffrent from the traditional heroes way. If you have the paitence to watch it till the end you will not regret it ! It starts of slow and funny but ends really strong and hard ! I gave it a 9/10 because it made me feel happy as much as it made me sad and i never EVER skipper the openning ! IMO this is a hidden gem that needs to get more popular ! read more
