Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo

When Ryuu Yamada entered high school, he wanted to turn over a new leaf and lead a productive school life. That is why he chose to attend Suzaku High School, where no one would know of his violent delinquent reputation. However, much to Ryuu's dismay, he is soon bored; now a second year, Ryuu has reverted to his old ways—lazy with abysmal grades and always getting into fights.

One day, back from yet another office visit, Ryuu encounters Urara Shiraishi, a beautiful honors student. A misstep causes them both to tumble down the stairs, ending in an accidental kiss! The pair discover they can switch bodies with a kiss: an ability which will prove to be both convenient and troublesome.

Learning of their new power, Toranosuke Miyamura, a student council officer and the single member of the Supernatural Studies Club, recruits them for the club. Soon joined by Miyabi Itou, an eccentric interested in all things supernatural, the group unearths the legend of the Seven Witches of Suzaku High, seven female students who have obtained different powers activated by a kiss. The Supernatural Studies Club embarks on its first quest: to find the identities of all the witches.

Coming into this, you might see the genres and get intimidated it being a harem and all but upon watching this it really isn't that bad yes there is some fan service here and there, but it's very mild and won't ruin the show for you
I've had this on my watchlist for a while now, but was too scared to watch because of the nature of the genre it's in but I was presently surprised by the wholesome plot and love story
But I do think they introduced the witch plot line a little too late in the show and I think not all the girls ... plot lines fully are fully marinated. I like how they explain some of the girls back stories with a theory but they don't really delve into this theory for example the green haired girl the main character only assumes that she can't communicate properly she never really says why she can't or how
And for example, the girl and the student council, it's never really addressed why she wanted to be invisible same thing for the girl who wants everyone to forget her
I think, if they introduced the plot line a little sooner into the anime, we could've gotten some of these back stories. I haven't read the manga, but I'm assuming they address them.
I quite enjoyed this but overall I think it's getting a seven from me just because on hindsight we really don't get to fully understand each which and their desire for the supernatural power the runtime is short but I've seen plenty of other anime manage by starting out the main plot sooner

Mixed Feelings

There is no beating around the bush, it's a supernatural themed harem, it's kinda entertaining for some of the antics and some of the comedy is alright.

The romantic progression between the main couple was enjoyable as well and I did like the characters when I watched the show.

In retrospect the characters weren't done particularly well, they were barely characterized beyond the cliche of top of the class falls for deliquant and all the tropes and cliches surrounding that.

The opening is really really nice tho, doesn't factor in a bunch when it comes to this review, but hey I can recommend the OP for sure.

The story ... does one of my least favorite tropes as a fake off or "Mock" ending twist, but it isnt really believable that it'd really stay that way. The "twist" involves memory wipes and that just feels like a crux or poor writing to create a bit of articial tension or make you angry.


On the whole it's a harem, "romcom", with a supernatural quirk about it, it's for the majority of the runtime mindless fun, but nothing too special.
a 6/10 objectively, tho I kinda enjoy these kinda shows so it's more of a 7/10 personally

The whole show is just people kissing each other with a really uninteresting story. I assume this is an attempt to just ship people? The characters range from horrendous to tolerable. The female main character is the worst one of them all. Somehow, she has less personality than the shy girl. She doesn't say or do anything interesting she might as well just be a chair with boobs. The main character is also boring he's just the "misunderstood delinquent" archetype that seems to have been popular in the time period that this came out.

Lackluster story. Boring characters. Terrible romance. It's a 2/10 because sadly, watching ... this wasn't enough of an insult to my dignity. But it was just so lacking in everything that I find it hard to get mad over it. Just completely forgettable.
