I signed up for the cacti forum and recieved no confirmation error. I tried the resend confirmation email button, and again a few days later, and again a few days after that and received no email. Any help? Anyways, I need help on getting the text to display on the rrdtool graph image. There is currently no text being displayed on any of my graphs. Thanks, Alex |

Depending upon your Linux version, but generally found in: /etc/default/snmpd You will 'should' find a few lines like: # snmpd options (use syslog, close stdin/out/err). SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid' These are the agent 'boot' options. In RHEL5, they are actually set in /etc/init.d/snmpd and not the file above. However, the thing to know is that the option: -Lsd Is where all the noise is coming from. If you simply google this, or read the agent's own help: snmpd --help You should be able to fix this. That's ok. It is possible to suppress the log messages. This depends on the version of net-snmp; please have a read at their website Reinhard On 23.05.2011 17:43, John Jones wrote: > Hello Community: > > Is this kind of snmp traffic to be 'expected' in the syslog (9 'hits' a > second) on the monitored host? > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:60158->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:35563->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:44560->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:55647->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:34693->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:37900->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:54184->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:34668->[10.168.95.74] > May 22 13:56:14 varnish snmpd[17253]: Connection from UDP: > [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]:53023->[10.168.95.74] > > I have 24,371 requests of this type for 5 calendar days of syslog* > > Cacti version is *Version 0.8.7g* > > The device has 11 graphs associated with it. > I also have the > Varnish Statistics > Cacti Varnish Stats 0.1 > By Sam Bashton, Bashton Ltd sa...@ba... > > setup for the client. > > Thank you for your time. > > |

I figured since that thread was last updated a year ago the topic must have been moved or abandoned anyway. Thanks though for tuning be energy down with a snotty remark though. I've only championed cacti all across the internet and made numerous free template libraries I love getting a cold shoulder response just fo using the ml. On Saturday, May 21, 2011, J.P. I was reading http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=24869&start=60 I think the timing is right now to mention that apache cassandra can be a great datastore for both the rrd and configuration storage. I would really like to see cacti have distributed polling and storage. Is their any motion on these features that I should know about or should I just hack at it? |

You can do that. Simply create a different database for the second cacti system; re-install the old database to that new one, then. Copy the old code to a different location (e.g. /var/www/html/cacti-old). And copy the old rrd files to that new location as well. You will need two crontab entries, one for each system. But it is not possible to combine old and new rrd files. And it is not possible to merge both cacti systems into one. Here's a new archive that includes CPU and MEM, as well as the xml files for polling. Frank -----Original Message----- From: Frank Bulk [mailto:fr...@in...] Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2011 9:28 PM To: 'fou...@pu...'; 'cac...@li...' Subject: Graphing Brocade MLXe (and MLX and XMR?) IPv4 and IPv6 interface counters in Cacti Attached are some templates I created and then exported from Cacti that draw on Brocade's private MIB that expose the MLXe's IPv4 and IPv6 counters on a per physical interface basis. This may be handy for those who want to create a baseline of IPv6 traffic before World IPv6 Day, both in term of absolute byte or packets, or in terms of percentage of traffic. (Not sure if the OIDs are supported on the MLX or XMR platforms and what software release it might need). These are the graphs: - IPv4 packets (in and out) - IPv6 packets (in and out) - IPv4 bytes (in and out) - IPv6 bytes (in and out) - percentage of bytes that are IPv6 They're 64-bit counters so it should work for higher-rate traffic. I think I've included all the relevant pieces by exporting from the Cacti GUI, but let me know if needed to include the brocade_mlxe_counters.xml file in resource/snmp_queries/. Kind regards, Frank |

About one month ago, the cacti server's hard drive at my office had fail. So I have to create a new cacti. Since the hard drive cannot be accessed, I sent it to the repair service. Now, it has been repaired, I want to restore the old cacti, but without disturbing the the new one which has been run for one month. My question is, can I make two cacti running together on same web server ? If possible, what step I should taken to make sure both worked without interfering each other ? I use Mandriva Linux 2010.2, apache 2.2.15, php 5.3.6 and mysql 5.1.46. Regards, Duswanto |

Attached is an archive with Cacti templates for both CPU and memory on the Brocade MLXe. It may work for the MLX and XMR -- I'm not sure. The CPU and memory is per slot. Let me know if you have suggestions for improvement or improve upon them yourself. Kind regards, Frank |

I am running discovery plugin to scan some vlans to add linux and windows servers. I am seeing that some servers are having some snmp problems, for example, number of graphs are a lot less than what it should be. What I need to do is to get the number of servers that the graph count is >=3. On the device page, Graphs and Data Sources does not let you sort it. Is number of graphs is stored anywhere so that I can run a sql to get this info? Or how else can I do this? Thanks, hasan |

I´ve made a search on google and see that some people got this problem when added weird character or space. Looking on my cacti database i did not found characters like that. I´m using version 0.8.7g and I´m having problem with graph tree. It used to work perfectly two weeks ago until I added new hosts. Now i don´t know what to do to view again my full graph tree. In console tab I can see my whole graph tree. But it does not appear the same in the "graphs" tab. Does anyone know how to correct this error? |

Cacti version: 0.8.7d I am using 0.8.7d and Information security is saying that there is a CGI XSS vulnerqability in my graph_view file. In what version this problem addressed? I tried 0.8.7g and the vulnerability is still there. Thanks, hasan |
