I don't see anything wrong with this, as long as you can log into mysql
with those values:
mysql -uspud -p cactidb

It would be worth a shot...

All, The cmd.php in SVN BRANCH_0_8_6 currently addresses this issue. We will be meeting on January 1st to discuss a patch release to address more permanently in the form of either an official release or maintenance patch. The link to the patched file can be found here: http://svn.cacti.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/branches/BRANCH_0_8_6/cacti/cmd.php ?rev=3828&sortby=date&view=log TheWitness > -----Original Message----- > From: cac...@li... I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention the Cacti remote code and SQL vulnerability. I read about it on SANS two days ago: http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?storyid=1986&rss It includes links to the actual advisories from Secunia and CVE, as well as steps to mitigate the threat. Regards, Frank |

Hi, I have successfully installed cacti 0.8.6i from the .tar.gz on the website, onto my debian 4 system. After days of wrestling with it I have the CPU usage successfully graphing but am still struggling to get hard drive space monitoring working. I am running cacti on the same machine as I would like to monitor. I eventually got the CPU monitoring working via snmp, is that the correct way of doing it? I am assuming hard drive monitoring is done the same way (unless cacti can query the server itself?). I used the Local Linux Machine template, then tried to add "Unix - Hard Drive Space", and then "ucd/net - Hard Drive Space" however both yield no results when trying to graph them (either an empty graph appeared or no graph at all). I added "com2sec readonly localhost public" to my smnpd config file, which I am assuming should allow access to everything. Thanks Pete |

Please try snmpget -v 1 -c public sol_10 memory and snmpget -v 1 -c public sol_10 cpu If they do not return data, you have an issue with your snmp version on your target box. 5.0.9 is not that current ... Please consider posting to http://forums.cacti.net, there's more traffic ... I am new to cacti and here is the issue I have: I am adding a solaris 10 box to cacti to graph CPU, memory usage and established connections. However, I am not able to get the CPU and memory graphs. I only get the established connections graph. The cacti server is ver. 5.0.9 and the solaris 10 box has net-snmp ver. 5.0.9 installed on it that came with the OS. SNMP seems to be working fine since I am able to do snmpget from the cacti server to the solaris 10 box. [cacti_server]$ snmpget -v 1 -c public sol_10 sysUpTime.0 SNMPv2-MIB::sysUpTime.0 = Timeticks: (261330381) 30 days, 5:55:03.81 what do I need to do to get the CPU and memory graphs? Thanks in advance. |

I have been to the forums and found a thread for > "cacti url yields blank screen", but that didn't solve my problem. > > Please help! > > - Siddharth. This problem seems to have been solved - the php*-mysql module was missing. Now i've gotten to the first page in the browser. Let's see how it goes from there. I don't know how many steps out of what i have done were unneccessary, but if i get the time i'll retrace them and try to find out. I'll post it on the list if i come up with anything. This problem seems to have occured only because of a selective installation of debian packages (cacti i had installed from source). Anyway, thanks a lot to Reinhard and the others who have helped me out. Cheers, Siddharth. |

There are a lot of session-related parameters in /etc/php5/apache/php.ini, if that's the file you are referring to (there are other similar ones for cli/php.ini etc, but i don't think those would be of interest here). So what exactly are you referring to? Anyway, initially when i would point my browser to http://localhost/cacti, it would give me a 404 not found error. Then a colleague told me i'll have to configure /etc/apache2/httpd.conf and let it know where the "/cacti" part is located. (Of course, the manual doesn't say anything about this). The only way i could figure to do this was add an alias (i copied some of the settings for other aliases which were working with the web server).. so here is my httpd.conf(the only non-comment part of it) : ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <IfModule mod_alias.c> Alias /cacti /usr/src/cacti <Directory /usr/src/cacti> Options MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </IfModule> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- in spite of this being the only entry, http://127.0.0.1/icons shows me the icons directory (without there being any alias for it in the apache2 httpd.conf). (also note that http://localhost/cacti just yields a blank page, while http://127.0.0.1 kinda works, i.e., it starts downloading the index.php file under some random name, but does not show any html content. (Earlier, while tinkering, i had aliased /cacti to the file poller.php in the cacti directory, and *that* used to display the html text in the browser). I have been to the forums and found a thread for "cacti url yields blank screen", but that didn't solve my problem. Please help! - Siddharth. |

Well tried a few changes to the db.php configuration file with no luck, here
it is maybe i cant see the problem for looking.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<?php
/* make sure these values refect your actual database/host/user/password */
$database_type = "mysql";
$database_default = "cactidb";
$database_hostname = "localhost";
$database_username = "spud";
$database_password = "mypasswordisinbithere";
$database_port = "3306";
?>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think it would be worth removing this version of cacti and
downloading the RPM for FC5 from the cacti website and installing that?
thanks again

I think the problem is with 'db.php' - double-check the settings in that

You are not using an official Cacti release. Check 'db.php' for the
correct info.
By the way, where did this release come from?

Hi, Ok I'm stuck... any help would be very much appreciated thanks!!! This is all I'm getting when trying to connect to cacti using " http://whatever/cacti" Error You have created a new database, but have not yet imported the 'cacti.sql' file. At the command line, execute the following to continue: mysql -u spud -p cactidb < cacti.sql This error may also be generated if the cacti database user does not have correct permissions on the cacti database. Please ensure that the cacti database user has the ability to SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE, CREATE, ALTER, DROP, INDEX on the cacti database. Now I have imported the cacti.sql file because i remember doing it and I can see it through 'mysql-administrator' that the tables have been imported into the cactidb database; And I have also checked the permissions through mysql-admin for use "spud" and that user does have ALL permissions added. In "/var/log/cacti/cacti.log" I'm getting these errors CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: SQL Cell Failed "select cacti from version" CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: Cannot connect to MYSQL server on 'localhost'.
