Hi !! We need to make a TCL script to calculate a VOLUME RENDERING. We don't how to calculate it, because for isosurfaces there is a vis5d_make_isosurface, but for VOLUME there isn't anything similiar. We tried these functions : vis5d_set_volume_and_owner 0 0 0 vis5d_set_volume 0 0 Any sugestion ? Thanks, Andre Magalhaes Ze Pedro |

Hi, I just wanted to find out whether anyone has used vis5D for open channel simulations ... Any help/experience would be great. Thanks, John Remi. Graduate Student Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering University of Queensland Brisbane 4072 AUSTRALIA |

Good Morning: After much thrashing we have got VIS5D to accept McIDAS GRID Files. I was wondering is the EARTH.TOPO file in VIS5D5.1 the most current topo file? Are there other topo files that would work? Is there a way to import data from a spread sheet into VIS5D? How about a comma or space delimited text file of data? Any help is appreciated. Regards .. Hi, I use vis5d+-1.1 to display 3-d wind, potential temperature, and temperature fields generated by a non-hydrostatic model (RAMS). Typically the simulations extend to 30 km altitude and are displayed correctly in the 3-d window. The Skew-T and Vertical Plot Display however truncates the profiles at the 50 hPa isobar. The wind vectors at the left side of the display and the height lables at the right side continue above this level, but the window is not large enough to show the top of these either. Manually enlarging the window with the mouse does not cure the problem. The number of vertical levels in the fields is 100. Increasing the layer spacing and decreasing the number of vertical levels, but keeping the top level at 30 km does not cure the problem. This problem was not present in older versions of vis5d. Has this problem been solved in vis5d+-1.2.0 ? If not, could you please tell me where to correct this problem in the source code. Hi, I'm working on a convertion program in C that converts netCDF file into vis5D file. It works OK with Generic rectilinear projection. But, it doesn't work when I use Azimuthal Stereographic projeciton. The problem is: the map itself did change for steroegrpahic projection but the data itself remains the same. actually, I also tried to change projection on the fly. What I means is that vis5d -projection stereo XXXX.v5d it turns out having the same problem. But for spherical projection it seems to work for either C program or on-the-fly. The only problem is that the slice cannot be moved up or down. Any idea? Thanks, Clement |

Hi! We are using the TCL interface to draw colored isosurfaces, but when vis5D reads the following lines, it draws all the frames. We don't understand it, because in the "non-colored" isosurface it draws only the desired frame. It shouldnt draw only one frame? vis5d_set_isosurface 0 1 1 vis5d_set_isosurface_color_var_and_owner 0 1 0 1 vis5d_make_isosurface 0 1 1 0 thanks Ze Pedro Andre Magalhaes |

Good Morning: Installed VIS5d5.1 on a HP 9000 HPUX 10.2. Install went OK. When I try to READ a McIDAS GRID File using v5dimport (GRID0010) I get the message can't read McIDAS Grid files on this system. Any thoughts on what to do? Thanks .. Greg .. Gregory D. This is enabled by the MCIDAS_SIDECAR variable in import/Makefile and requires libmcidas*.a. The Makefile only supports it for Irix. This was developed for the McIDAS project and their distribution of Vis5D. You should contact your McIDAS support about this. For one thing, you'll need a libmcidas.a for your HP, and hope it is still compatible with the calls in v5dimport. Good luck, Bill |
