No Game No Life volume 11 - Yuu Kamiya

At last, the story of this beloved light novel, and anime, series continue, as the 11th book has been released in Belgium.

And once again, Shiro and Sora, together with their companions, need to overcome grieveous games to further their plan of challenging the One True God, Tet, himself.

Sora, Shiro, Steph, Jibril and Emir-Eins find themselves somewhere completely unfamiliar: a Spratul, home of the ninth-ranked Ixseed, the Fairies.  Next thing they know, a booze guzzling, cigar smoking, foul mouthed Fairy named Foeniculum shows up and announces that unless they partner up into couples, they`ll be trapped there forever... Oh, and the whole thing is being livestreamed.  To emerge victorious, Sora must choose one of the ladies as his girlfriend, at last!

But then it dawns on him, they might just as well leave him behind by pairing up with each other!  His only chance then would be to obtain a key through the tips of the people viewing are donating.  Because it turns out Fairies are nothing more then reality TV loving video streamers, out to see as much love-life drama as possible to nourish themselves.  But Sora figures out Foeniculum is in the same boat as them, with the fate of Elkia in the balance.  But it seems it is not Elven Guard that is behind it all, but apparently the Dragonias.

Sora and Shiro start to see a way on how to win though, trying to run games their way, and make the games interactive to have the Fairy subscribers and the tips flow in like mad.  But the game comes with a serious drwback, as it disrupts the harmony between the siblings as a result of the Fairies actions, causing a breach in communication between them.  This results in Shiro thinking she is actually might be romantically in love with Sora.

The emotions wreck her up, resulting in a mental breakdown as she takes over the Spatul of the fairies, transforming it into an apocalyptic wasteland instead.  But this "Black Shiro" who turns out to be a lolli dominatrix is hellbend on making sure her brother never wants a girlfriend ever again.  In a capture the tower style game, the other girls have two hours to free him from this fate, but they have to stand up to Shiro's superior gaming skills.

But while Black Shiro keeps humiliating Sora, the girls form the Girl-on-Girl Alliance, allowing their forces to grow so big to overpower Shiro by sheer strength of numbers.  But as they think they defeated here and break their alliance, Black Shiro starts making a come back, meaning there is someone beside her helping her out.  And that can be only one person!  Together, they defeat the Alliance, and the game, resulting in everyone being able to leave the Spatul.  With the amassed souls, Foeniculum becomes the Fairies agent, and joins the Elkian alliance.  Together, they plan to take on Elven Gard, who's agent had indeed beaten Blank for the first time in their lives...

But the plan and how the game came into being is explained, as before their memory loss, the ruler of Dragonia appeared, asking them to take back Elkia and as such save two races from extinction.  With the help of Foeniculum, they would try and do so by beating a Spatul created by Fairies enslaved by the Elves.  The Commonwealth still faces a broken of faction of other race backed spies, an internal strife looms around the corner.  But the member races reforge their bonds and prepare to pick up the pace again after the one time Blank actually lost...

A rather special volume I must say, as I can imagine the Black Shiro part being uneasy on some readers, but never the less it read like a rollercoaster.  Now the saddest part is to wait for the next book getting written...

I'm the Hero, but the Demon Lord's also me - Tatsuya Endo and Akiyoshi Ota

The fourth and final volume of this ecchi yet hilarious manga, as it reaches an epic conclusion to the story.

Including of course the necessary amount of oppai...

Yuuma, now armed with the sacred Sword and the Demon Sword, still faces off to Carina.  He is no match, even when Ruri, the reincarnated Moon demon general, arrives on the scene.  Unknowingly, he fuses the swords to a huge blade and defeats Carina with a technique that fires up her erogenous zones.

Back in the house, princess Alfin is send a succubus cursed set of BDSM clothing, while Lavinia receives a gown that turns her into a proper maiden, and the two start to hook up.  Ruri seeks out Yuuma in the meantime, challenging him and the two bearers of the swords to a fight.  The youngest sister of the princesses intervenes however.

The mother's of both Alfin and Lavinia arrive at Yuuma's house, and when the gang comes back they explain the need of why Yuuma finds himself in this situation.  The girls decide to take matters into their own hands as a result.

Seven years later, Yuuma comes to visit his dad from the other world, accompanied by the girls who all carry his offspring...

So this was a jolly good fun series, and I enjoyed reading it for certain.  Now, let's hope this gets animated as well some day gnahgnahgnah...

I'm the Hero, but the Demon Lord's also me volume 3 - Tatsuya Endo and Akiyoshi Ota

Aw right, it's time for the third volume of this hilarious isekai harem series, with a serious ecchi touch.

Because oppai to the left, oppai to the right, oppai everywhere in this series.

It seems that both the followers of the demon lord, as the followers of the hero, prefer to spend their days topless.

A sacred dragon appears, to warn Yuuma that the demon dragon clan Berserker princess is coming to Earth to challenge him.  In order to defeat her, he must also find the demon sword, having only access to the sacred sword at the moment, hidden in his best friend's bossom.

But Carina ended up lost in our world, and takes on a kindergarten teacher job to pay for her eating bills, as she didn't know her gold coins weren't a method of payment.  When she finally gets on track of the hero, Yuuma's father, the former hero, faces off against her.  He does this to draw time for his son to arrive and get the sacred sword out of his friend to battle Carina.  But he is no match, until one of his classmates appears and turns out not to hold, but actually IS the Demon Sword.

Well, another good laugh for sure, and now it is only the final tome that needs to be read, sadly concluding then this fun little series.

Date A Live IV

The dating of spirits is back, and that means also more Kurumi!

So after a couple of years of waiting, season 3 being from 2019, it's time for the antics of Shidou in trying to seal potentially world destroying spirits away by making them falling in love with him.

And a new season of course means new spirits as well!  And it begins with Shidou meeting otaku and mangaka Nia Hounjou, who reveals herself as a spirit.  She is not against being sealed away, but she can only seemingly love 2D figures.  They decide to make a manga to have Nia fall for him, and sell it at Comico.  But just as Nia opens up to Shido, she inverts.  This is a result of the manipulations by Westcott, who had held her captive, and he swoops in to steal her demon king energy crystal.  But a bit of spirit remains, allowing Shido to seal her.  Nia is suprised when they tell her not all spirits where once humans...

When they prepare themselves to seal a spirit lingering in space, codenamed Zodiac, they are visited by their chairman.  But as he explains the origin of the organisation, the base comes under attack by Westcott, who traps Shidou and the spirits in a fairy tail realm.  They escape and head to space to try and free Mukumo, but come under attack there by an enemy fleet. A space battle ensues, but Shido manages to unlock her heart with the help of the other Spirits, and she whisks him away to go on a date after he protects her from falling to Earth.

But after the date, everybody seems to have forgotten who Shido is.  Only Origami remebers, and Tohka who inverts as a result.  Shido manages with the help of the others to get the crisis in check and restore their memory locks, but then Kurumi appears at his school.  She challenges him, either she kills him, or he seals her.  They unravel her goal, as she wants to travel back 30 years in time with the power she can get from Shido.  That way, she can stop and destroy the Spirit of Origin.

It turns out Shido actually died 204 times in these days of the date so far, but Kurumi keeps sending her mind back to try and protect him over and over again.  Phantom appears before her, but she manages to paralyse her and reveal her identity... which is no one other then Reine!  On board Fraxinus, Shido vows to now help Kurumi in return.

A very good season of this charming and hooking series, and I for one cannot wait for season 5 to hit, which probably be again in a year or two.

I'm the Hero, But the Demon Lord is also Me volume 2 - Tatsuya Endo and Akiyoshi Endo

Time for some funny yet lewd reading again, with the second book released of this series.

And it is, like the first one, a tale of exhibitionism as heroes and demons gather to claim poor Yuuma Tsugari, child of both a nations hero and her demon lordess.

It all begins as the peace seemingly had returned a bit, and just then Alfin's little sister Lilfy barges in.  She is there to bring her older sister the princess back to their realm, as she sees demons present.  Unconvinced by her sister's plea, she believes her possessed and challenges Yuuma to a duel to free her soul and will.  During the duel the situation is cleared out though... but one of the demon realms generals decides to step into the fray as well!

When Yuuma is confronted by this general, his classmate Ruri steps in, revealing herself as the demon general of the Moon.  Reincarnated in this world after being defeated by Yuuma's father, she is just out here to have a good scrap.  In order to defeat the general, he needs to summon the Sacred Sword, which is carried in... the bossom of his best friend Kanna.  He summons it and defeats Gradolio... who turns out to have a serious humiliation fetish...

Another fun volume for sure, and a series I already had some serious laughs with.  Yeah, it is flat harem humour most of the time, but heck, nothing wrong with that in my book!

The Quintessential Quintuplets volume 1 - Negi Haruba

Well, last year I often repeated that this anime, that I discovered during 2021, quickly became my "guilty pleasure" series...

... and what better way to continue that feel good feeling of the adventures of Fuutaro and the Quintuplets, then starting the manga it was based on.  The manga has finished in the meantime, so I can start shopping in order to get the complete series together!

And in this first volume, we start again with Futaro running into Itsuki, a meeting not going well.  But soon after, he lands a high payed tutoring job, which turns out not to be for Itsuki, but actually for her sisters as well.  They are Quintuplets!  And not the brightest bunch either, so a long and arduous job awaits Futaro, as he not only has to see how to teach them, but find out all their quirks and characteristics to see how to get best through to each and every one of them.

And he gets his first opening when Miku, who starts growing feelings towards him, opens up, allowing him to enter each of their school forte's.  Slowly as such, he realises he needs to win each and every one of them over seperately...

And so my journey across the 122 chapters of the manga has begun, now to get the next volumes of the series and continue reading and enjoying this fantastic series!

The Quintessential Quintuplets

It's a bit of a strange reason I started watching this series: sheer luck in a music opening quiz game on YouTube.

So as MAL has it as a stream on the site, I decided to go for this romance harem anime.

Uesugi Fuutarou gets a job tutoring five sisters, but he quickly learns that the five times the pay comes with five times the trouble with the quintuplets.  But as it helps paying off the debt of his father, he decides to go for it.  So he now finds himself tutoring the five Nakano sisters.

While they turn out to be all five potential flunkers, he knows he has his job cut out for him as he needs to get to know, and convince, each of them on getting to study harder.  In order to do that, he needs to play to every strength and intrests of each and every one of them, wether it is historical warlords or XXX.  All the while Nino, one of the sisters and the leader of the group, refuses to accept him.  Until they go to an arcade and later the fireworks with Uesugi's younger sister Raiha, who causes a bit of bonding with Itsuki and the other sisters.

However, each of the girls is developping a crush on him in various degrees, and handling it differently.  When the midterm exams come up, their father informs him that each of the girls must pass or he will be fired, so he has to get them to study and focus.  They do fail, but Nino convinces her father to keep him on.

It is later shown that apparently in his youth years, he has been in love with one of the quintuplets, though it doesn`t show which one just yet, as back then they looked identical going by their childhood memories pictures.  When he goes on school camp with the girls, they all get to know each other better and talk about their feelings... though it isn`t revealed which of the siblings he ends up marrying though in the end... nor which one it was in the picture.

BTW, I would pick Ichika...

Definitly an enjoyable, innocent series, which is sometimes a nice break of more action packed series.

Date a Bullet

Actually two OVAs's that tell one story, Dead or Bullet and Nightmare or Queen, that followed on the third season of Date A Live.

And it involves my favorite of the series Kurumi, so of course I watched this.

In the story, one of the timefragment clones of Kurumi ends up in the Neighbouring World where she is entered into a battle royal with a heap of Quasi-Spirits.  She overpowers them rather easily, until she has to face a childhood friend going by the nomicker Queen and has similar powers.

And what role does Hibiko, a young girl, in all this?

A fun little sidestory, this movie was quite fun if you love the slightly cucoo Kurumi, and a must watch if you like Date A Live.

Date a Live season 3

The hilarious harem anime is back in 2019, with the third season of the adventures of Shidou who has to seal spirit powers away by kissing them.

It has been 5 years since the second season was aired, but it was worth the wait as it is just as comical as it's predecessors.

The season actually has two arcs, and in the first a new spirit makes her appearance, a witch like one called Natsume.  Shidou is forced to save his friends from being erased to play in her magical game and to make her fall for him to seal her powers.

But the second arc is the mainliner, as Origami, hellbound on destroying all spirits, becomes one herself.  However, when she finds out the truth about who actually killed them, Shidou is forced to travel back to the past with the help of Kurumi.  He manages to change history, but in doing so doesn't get the result he actually hoped for...

And then there is the final episode where Shidou has to be the one to be swooned by the spirits...

A good season with a lot of laughs, as the various spirits each have their quirks causing Shidou to end up in awkward situations, and definitly worth a look!
