multi-tasking

this is the time where i have to split myself into many pieces...
i have to study and do my work
i have to be a friend and a family member
i have to be myself and relax
i have to think about where i want to go after this
i have to look out for jobs or companies where i wanna apply to
i have to apply for jobs

bleahz.... forget about other stuff like dating.. no time to find.. no time...

finding jobs.. so difficult.. been looking at 1 or 2 job portals, classified and recruit today. It's very difficult to sieve out jobs, even when you already know a specific area you are going to look at. I realized that i'll end up applying a lot to civil service, gov sectors, cause they will tend to have jobs for fresh graduates. On the other hand, those jobs in job portals and classified times tend to ask for working experience... How do I find working experience?? haii......

Tough tough...

one scary day.. went for interview with mindef this afternoon. Before that, i didn't know wat to expect and stuff like that... So I didn't really prepare what to say or do...

Went there with a fren. So lucky that I know she was going today too.. It feels a lot better to have someone to talk to while waiting. Did watever we had to.. So, she went first. She went for an hour interview!! Then I went.. I took 20 mins... So short! Came out with the thinking 'die die die.. so short!' But then I realized that I was considered for only one post and she was considered for 3.. So it's about the same??

One thing I took back from the interview.. 1 painful little toe... Wore pointed heels cause I was advised to wear covered shoes to interview... Never wear stockings today, so my little toe died from the friction and being squeezed.. poor thing. Next time, either dun wear covered or wear stockings..

Don't really know how I fared and whether I'll proceed on.. So use 1 of my fav lines...

See how lah!

holiday passing quite fast... sighz.. i'll be dying soon.... still very holiday mood.. not doing very much work.. ah well...

another fire started this evening nearby... poor trees...

recently, i started to blog surf... u see the bar at the top of my blog? just click 'next blog'. Sometimes, you'll get to read people write about their lives or interesting stuff.. Like a knitter who puts pictures about her knitting... A mother talking about how her kid just came back from skiing.. or photo blogs with really well taken photos.. Very interesting..

fire

I can tell u honestly that this is the first time I remember hearing about forest fires in Singapore. Must be because there are so many lately and I'm hearing about fires every single day. One at NUS, a few at tampines lately, and i dunno where else... Reading reports about fires as big as 2 football fields, or even 10 football fields...

Opened the window for some fresh air and wind.. All I got was smell of smoke. Wonder where that came from. Closed the window because I suffocate..

Poor trees...

no way

I will not go to South Africa for holiday
I will not go to Sahara Desert or any desert for holiday
I will not go to some terrible scorching place for holiday

Why would I wanna go there when Singapore is hot??

So glad I'm indoors for these couple of days.. It's so much cooler at home than outside.. SO MUCH! It's super sunny outside, but at least there's the wind, which helps to cool my house.. Almost wanted to kill myself last week in NUS. I really mean kill myself. Was walking into the stupid heat and dying.. It's not exactly a very good thing to be walking on black tarred roads with concrete all around at 1pm! The sun is so terribly hot, with no cloud cover. And the roads are emitting heat, trying to tell u that they are hot too!! Terrible.. Utterly terrible... It doesn't really help when you go into any lt in NUS. The LTs cool you down... They really do.. But they cool you too quickly that you feel super cold! So, outside is hot, inside is cold.. What do you get? Ill... Luckily I'm home...

I love my fans and aircon. I love ice water. I love water. I love cold sour drinks.

today

Wanted to just blog about a few issues.. See how it goes..

Courtesy
It's quite irritating when you see people who don't have basic courtesy and an idea of giving way. At bus terminal, a number of school students in uniform don't know wat 'queueing up' means. They just stand around and when the bus comes, they use the shortcut way and they cut the queue to board the bus. Sometimes, I feel like just asking them how they can not know what it means to queue as educated beings.

Today, at Jurong East MRT station, my train came. There was a crowd coming out and this primary school boy just pushed his way in cause he was small size. Another mom was pushing her teenage daughter inwards to board the train. Then some guy coming out bumped into the daughter. The mom said something like 'push him ah'. Then the guy heard it and shouted at her before rushing to his train. Just one of the perfect scenarios that people should not do. Can't you just wait for the darn train to empty out? I'm sure you aren't that desperate for a seat. Furthermore, that was a train reaching the terminal. It'll be empty when everyone comes out and it's 10.30pm. Not that many people to fight with u for seats...

Singlish
Recently, I read a few entries on Straits Times Forum about the use of Singlish. Some said that we should not look down on Singlish. There is nothing wrong with using Singlish as another language. Another said that Singlish is more of a dialect of English and there is indeed nothing wrong with Singlish. However, we should not be switching between English and Singlish just because we are not proficient in English. Well, I kind of agree in a sense. Heard a girl talking to her gal fren about her bf.
" He said that I should conformist him. But I said that he should confirmist me...."
Other than the 'confirmist', everything else was in Chinese... I had no idea what confirmist meant in that sentence.. I guess it means listen, obey, comply, follow?? Had no idea whether to laugh or be upset at that conversation...

Money matters
Just a conversation yesterday brought this topic into my mind again... I've spent about 10k on 2 holidays and driving lessons in the past 4 years. It's a large sum of money... Wonder if it'd have been better spent if I didn't do those and put the money into somewhere else...

That brings me to the question.. Why do people go on holidays? To enrich themselves? To see the world? To relax? Why go on holidays when you're going to die one day? What would that holiday bring in the end? Why not save the money for future uses or the next generation?

But then... Why should you scrimp and save money, use minimal money on urself, just to save for the future and/or the next generation? You're gonna die anyway so why save so hard for ur future. You'll never know when you'll die and money can't go into the grave.. As for ur next generation, you'll definitely need to save some money, but there's no need to be miserable with ur spending rite?

Guess everyone has their own way with money.. But I doubt I'll scrimp and save.. I wanna see a lot of places and if I have the money, nothing's gonna stop me.. muahahaha

weird..

humans are weird... or maybe i am... i can't really read or understand what I'm feeling.. I can't tell whether I'm happy, sad, sian, or a combination..

If I rationalize it:
Had a nice night out yesterday - should be happy
Had a good dream last night - should be happy and sweet

But I don't feel very happy or sweet leh..

Can't figure why... I need someone to read my mind...

from your love

Just heard 933fm... They were asking this question...

'Did you receive the vday present you wanted? If not, what did you want from ur partner?'

Interesting question.. So can I pose the question to everyone who reads this blog..

'What would you like to receive from ur current or future partner on vday?'

Some options I could think of that you could choose from are: flowers, chocolates, handmade stuff (specify?), home cooked food, jewellery, clothes, any practical stuff, a holiday, an expensive candlelight dinner. Or you don't want anything at all.

Personally, occassionally, flowers would be nice to receive on vday. Although, flowers are expensive, but just a small bouquet would put a smile on the face (make sure it's a surprise though). Flowers don't have the same impact when you've already expected it. If my bf cooks vday dinner for me, i'd be quite touched. I watched the news last night. Some guys signed up with some hotel to learn how to cook a few dishes. That's quite sweet to me.

Not sure how I would think about vday next time. But, currently vday doesn't have to be expensive to be good. Maybe a nice quiet picnic or simple dinner at home is good enough.. Of course, expensive would have a special added value. But, expensive doesn't necessarily mean good...

valentine..

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! *muacks*

hahaha... hope everyone enjoyed their vday.. Doesn't really matter if you have a valentine anyway.. At least I enjoyed myself.. I woke up happy, got song dedicated to me, got flowers for me.. Got friends around me.. What more to ask for...

Anyway, how many times would you see many guys shopping around? Only once a year! And it's today! Vday!

Went to Lot one to lunch today. It's very interesting to be out today. Walked past a florist. Saw about 4 or 5 guys inside the florist. No gal customer. Then walked past a temporary set-up selling soft toys, cushions, etc.. All the vday presents. And there were 2 guys at the cashier gonna pay for their purchase. Then, there's a new SK jewellery at Lot 1. Well, got ladies looking at jewellery (like me), but also quite a number of guys looking and picking... Such an interesting phenomenon...

Read the papers on Sunday? There was an article about women who like flowers to be sent to their office on vday, and the bigger the better. Was thinking about it and talking to des about it. I guess, it's definitely happening everywhere, in every office (other than restricted areas). How many girls wouldn't like to be surprised by flowers and gifts? And how many wouldn't like it to be sent to the office, to spread their joyous occassion? And how many wouldn't feel super happy and floating in the clouds when envious colleagues comment and praise how big and beautiful their bouquet is, how nice and romantic their bf is to spend so much money and surprise her? There will definitely be some exceptions, but I think the majority wouldn't mind the idea...

Flowers are a waste of money, especially on vday. They'll rot and wither after a few days.. But who cares? As long as she's happy...

crazy day

wat a crazy day.. Went to a themed 21st bday party. The theme was 'Enid Blyton'. So a number of us tried to dress up to it. I didn't do anything super special. I just dressed up as Anne from the Famous Five. Then I brought a dog soft toy to act as Timmy from the Famous Five. Did crazy stuff like do a chicken dance to win a prize.. Took photos with other dressed up pple in weird costumes...

Well, I guess I could say that it was interesting, though not easy. So difficult when you try to please the bday person by dressing up. And it's not an easy theme. Made me realize that I forgot a lot of my Enid Blyton stories. All I remember is the wishing chair.

Well, thought this photo quite cute.. It's my msn pic for now.. As for the characters, you got to make a guess (the specs are not part of my costume, but i borrowed it for fun)

cny

well... now that my last major cny celebration is over, i shall reflect on it...

been hearing a lot of frens saying lately that this year's cny feeling is not as strong as before.. I've been wondering why.. Is it that they don't do as much to feel the cny? Or is it cause we have grown up and are no longer curious kids eager to get as many angpaos as possible? I don't think I'll have the perfect answer to the question, but this year's cny has been quite ok for me... At least I do feel that it's cny...

I've done my routine cleaning up, going to chinatown to squeeze and see 'red' everywhere. I've hanged up cny decor all around my house, including my room's door and wall... This year's decor is the best! Cause I actually found precious moments and mickey & minnie mouse cny decor.. So cute! I've had my reunion dinner, stuffed myself with mandarin oranges and cny goodies. I've gone to families for visiting, saw my relatives after a super long time, had good chats, watch little kids grow. I've gotten my angpaos, played mahjong without money. I've celebrated with my frens. I've lao-ed yu sheng. I've even done new stuff, like going to geylang to eat frog porridge at 4am!!

I guess I have done most of what I could to enjoy the cny.. I just love the break.. Haven't been doing much work lately. Think I'll regret it next week when my work starts piling.. But who cares? I've had fun...

although I"m not a fan of jack neo.. or actually, i dun really like jack neo. Never watched his movies.. BUT i quite like the radio ad for his new movie 'I do I do'... Heard it in chinese. Shall type a translation of it..

'Singapore got 4 million people
2 million are females
1 million are old
Still got 1 million of young people
Why can't your grandchild find a partner?'

Quite true I have to say.. So why are there so many singles in Singapore?

shock

a few of us were in utter shock yesterday after class. Was walking from as7 to busstop. Went past the behind of LT12 when we saw a guy only in his undies... !! He was standing near the front side door of LT12. Muscular but not too big size... Hmm... Then the front side door opened. Peeked in. Big blue floor mat. Another muscular 20+ year old guy standing in the middle of the mat, in his undies, showing his muscles off.. OH.. Body building..

Since when did NUS hold body building competitions??

And no.. No nose bleeding

Only running nose.. I'm sick..
