I've update the CQL manual (revision #734). Now it includes
some graphics, and the English letters for pieces are replaced
with figurines, due to internationalization reasons.

are now available online under

I've released version #727, which has a complete manual
for CQL (Chess Query Language). You have to switch to the
English language if you want to see the manual in your
help dialog.

CQL will be the basis for Scidb's searching and filtering
functions. For complex position searches the user may
write (or use predefined) CQL scripts; for example

- knight gives mate with its first move
- isolated triple pawns on connected squares
- and so on

CQL allows nearly unlimited queries.

I've wrote the manual before finishing the implementation
(about 50% in C++ is already implemented) to have more
clearness about extensions of the existing standard
(see <http://www.rbnn.com/cql/>). The exisiting standard is
designed for studies and problems, but in Scidb CQL will be
the basis for all searches, including header searches. For
this I invented some more keywords. Furthermore special
keywords for other chess variants are required.

Proof-reading, suggestions, and comments are very welcome.

I had problems compiling scidb svn revision 709 in Fedora 17 64 bits.

After ./configure the output is:

I found the problem is in configure file: Location of Xcursor library:
/usr/lib/libXcursor.so.1.0.2

I had to change configure file, from:

    540     set path(x,libraries,usr) {
    541         /usr/lib
    542         /usr/lib64


to:

    540     set path(x,libraries,usr) {
    541         /usr/lib64
    542         /usr/lib


After re-running ./configure the output is:

Renaming "Makefile.in" to "Makefile.in.bak"
    Tcl/Tk version: 8.5

Notice that the output changed from: Location of Xcursor library:
/usr/lib/libXcursor.so.1.0.2

to: Location of Xcursor library: /usr/lib64

now make run without problem

Now type "sudo make install" for installation.

Another workaround is to remove the 32 bits version of package libXcursor.
Example: libXcursor-1.1.13-1.fc17.i686

The problem is that this package is needed by wine.

yum remove libXcursor-1.1.13-1.fc17.i686
