Due to line break problems with Sourceforge's viewer I'm repeating the previous mail with handmade line breaks: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scidb has implemented a most wanted feature: engine support. With revision #476 an analysis window is available (use the locomotive/engine icon). Momently the analysis window is a single window, not bound to the main window. This will be changed as soon as a window layout management is implemented (this will take a while). Note that the engine is always starting in analysis mode - this means that you cannot use engines which do not have an analysis mode (older WinBoard engines). Playing against a computer is not planned in Scidb, for this purpose another project is scheduled, called Jessy. Jessy will be designed for computer/human matches, and will provide an interface to Scidb's databases. Scidb has bundled three engines: - Stockfish is a very strong engine, which supports Chess 960, and some features like adjustable hash size, number of threads, and clearing the hash tables on the fly. - Sjeng is a bit simple, but supports some interesting chess variants: Crazyhouse, Bughouse [German: Tandemschach], and Antichess [German: Schlagschach]. - Crafty is one of the most interesting WinBoard engines. It also supports some features: adjustable hash size, and number of threads. In a future version I will add chess variant Three-check to Crafty (it's relatively simple to do this). Bundling the engine Sjeng is a bit forward-looking, one of the next releases of Scidb will also provide support for all these variants (if possible): Crazyhouse, Bughouse, Three-check, and Antichess (Suicide, Giveaway, Losers). -- Gregor Cramer email: <gc...@gm...> |
