And some folks said that the mecha genre was pretty much dead, lol.

Nice to see another classic mecha title getting more anime love.

yeah, it is similar to Gundam Hathaway Flash. people may think they try to "emulate" old anime, but when old people make new anime, it's only natural that it will look like old anime. they're not emulating anything, it is just their way of doing things.

it looks good and faithful to the original's tone as far as i'm concerned, complaining about CGI mechs at this point is like kicking someone who's already down. get over it, there's no coming back. it wouldn't look as good as the original even if it was 2D anyway.

@iThink How would it be co opting a recognizable aesthetic when the original team behind said aesthetic is working on it?

Got to admit I haven't watched a good mech series in a while, maybe this will scratch that itch!

I was afraid because of the J.C.Staff announcement but this feels like an ultimate fanservice for the Patlabor fans (well... I can't call myself a true fan cause I watched only OVA and first two movies, but still).
CGI mechs never bother me, in most cases I even prefer them instead of 5 fps drawn "mechs" in modern anime shows.

Great, can't wait for the release.
