Friday...and it's all gone white!?

Oh the joys of the British weather are a wonder to behold. I went to bed and outside was just as you'd expect of a normal day...everything in colour (although, at that time of night it was mostly dark). I woke up this morning and something weird had happened...all the colour was gone and everything had turned white!...Yes, the snow has hit and due to having a huge depth of the white stuff (a whole inch of snow!...I know...it was terrible to see! The whole world came to a standstill!), I did the Dad thing and kept the children at home. The real reason was they were only due to go for a morning and there had been an accident near to the school which was causing a huge amount of traffic delay...so by the time they would have got there, they would have been coming home again.

So...snow + children =...

..."it's too cold outside and it's the wrong sort of snow so can we build with Lego all day instead?"

I remember...back in the day...we used to rush outside at the slightest hint of snow and stay outside until frostbite took the ends off our noses! And even then, we'd just put some Savlon on and stay out until our fingers were stumps...we'd end up dragging ourselves across the floor with blackened, shriveled, stumps ONLY when we had built a snowman that was as big as the snow would allow...I don't know...the children of today, they just don't know what's good for them ;).

So...distractions, distractions, distractions...

I have a whole lot of stuff going on that I shouldn't have.

I have ten sci-fi adventurers undercoated and sat on my painting table. They are a selection of miniatures from Hasslefree Miniatures and I'm sure that there will be some pix when I get to a point where they are worth showing.

I have also added a wash to the Belog's skin...not a lot, I know but it IS something so it can't be all bad.

I have assembled 2 Baruk, 1 unbridled Enuk and 7 bridled Enuks. They are all from Hasslefree Miniatures (again) and they are part of the Twilight range. What are they for? Well...they are for some Grymn cavalry. Speaking of which, I have a prototype almost ready for a photo-call!...I have been busy chopping, pinning and sculpting a suitable Grymn and he actually suits things really well...

I still need to clean all of the cavalry mounts of flash...but it is a start and now that they are all firmly secured to their bases, they are easier to control while sculpting/cleaning.

I have tried out my shiny new mitre block and tenon saw and it works well enough on the dowel I have for my tank wheels...which is nice.

So...that's it for now! I'm sure I'll have something to show off by Sunday!

See you through the snow-storm.

SHHHH...you ain't seen this; right?:

Sunday Updates.

Another Sunday and another update.

First of all, I'd like to welcome our newest follower, Brutorz Bill! WELCOME!

On to the update and Inso has, yet again, sent over a plethora of pix.

First up, Fin Dus has got pecs, back muscles and a few extra folds here and there:

Next comes a very small change on the ship's crew-member...a strap to hold his machine pistol in place:

Mr. Punch has had a belt added (again, not a lot...but it will help for the next stage):

...and finally, the alien overlord has had a bit of a lick of paint. Thanks to some zenithal priming, he has been painted slightly different to his minions but I think he is turning out OK so far...and he is now, most definitely watching you:

Watch the skies! They are coming...

Well...with Sunday being Sunday, Inso will be off to call the bingo again tonight so I doubt that there will be much more progress. I do know that he has been painting the three mystics from the ship's crew as well as doing all the other stuff here. He hasn't done too much but has started to highlight the cloaks and tidy up a few bits and pieces on them.

That's it for now.

Catch you later!...

WAIT A MINUTE! I forgot this one...the pipe has had a bit more work as well:

It is still very much in the build up but it is definitely starting to look more 'tigery'.

Bye Now!

Saturday Bonanza!

It would seem that Inso has been busy over the last day or so because he has sent over a bunch of WIP pics for us to look at.

First up is a beefed up Fin Dus. He has had a bit of shoulder definition added and a few areas of folds on his legs. He's also had his elbow joints made to be more realistic looking. Here's Fin Dus as he currently stands (there is still more work to do!):

Next up is the progress on Mr Punch. As you can see, his first fist has been added and he has gained the start of his armour. His mouth has been improved a bit and his legs have been beefed up. Again there is a lot more work to do but here he is so far:

One of the ship's crew has got some attention as well. The assault specialist has now got some more armour and is in the process of having a sidearm added...Inso is yet to name him:

Finally, we have a new addition to the Invasion Aliens from Griffin Miniatures. This is the Alien Overlord in a hover chair. Beware...the truth may be out there...but it is watching you!:

Well, that is it for now. Inso doesn't have too much to do tomorrow so there may be more updates to look at.

Oh...I almost forgot. Inso has ordered a few Lego parts for another project he has been thinking about for ages. It would appear that there are plans for a few Grymn vehicles...8 to start with (if he can stick with it!). It will certainly be interesting to see what is going to turn up.

Tuesday Invasion!

We have a bit of a surprise today...Inso has finished the Alien Invasion party (apart from varnish):

He has basically said that these are 'table-top quality' and have been painted with speed in mind.

These were painted in 10 stages:

Basecoat (on bare metal) Deneb Stone (GW Foundation Paint).
Wash the flesh with GW Gryphone Sepia Wash.
Paint the weapons Astronomicon Grey (GW Foundation Paint).
Wash the weapons with GW Devlan Mud Wash.
Paint the eyes Chaos Black (GW Paint).
Wash over they eyes/sockets with GW Devlan Mud Wash.
Paint the base with Dark Flesh (GW Paint).
Dry-brush the base with Tanned Flesh (GW Paint).
Paint the base rim with Dark Flesh (GW Paint).
Highlight the nose, lips and eyebrows with a tiny bit of Deneb Stone...and that is it...done.

Obviously, Inso still needs to varnish them but as far as he is concerned they are as good as they will get.

Well...what's next? Who Knows?

There's only one way to find out...stay tuned ;).

Sunday and yet another change of direction...

Inso never fails to surprise me. Just when you think that he is on course to actually finish something (the Urban Assault Platoon), he goes and sends over a picture like this:

If you don't know what they are, they are 'Alien Invaders' from Griffin Miniatures. Inso picked these up at Salute last year and they have been quietly sat in the cupboard since then. He took them out to paint because he said that they were 'quick painters'...meaning that he wasn't going to go to town on them and he will be using simple techniques to get them painted quickly and to a reasonable standard.

Unfortunately, the command figure had a miscast and his arm was missing. Inso had to do something about that so he has sculpted on a 'probe' arm...I dread to think what he has in mind with that character!

In other news, Inso has recently ordered a tank and a few bits and pieces from Old Crow. The bits and pieces will mean that he can finish converting all of the Vulkan battlesuits that he has in his collection (currently 13). The tank was just an impulse buy to see what it looks like (it is a Gladius) and it will eventually join all the Glaives that he has (currently 5).

He has also ordered a few bits and pieces from Hasslefree miniatures. This will enable him to add the chin turret guns to his other two Pilum Dropships and also to put together a small 'mercenary unit' for YET ANOTHER of his projects!

Other items that have arrived recently from E-bay (in addition to the Tiger APC) are 3 more Vulkans (that are included in the tally of 13) and a small squad of Spugs (from Spriggan Miniatures).

There is also a lot going on in the greater miniatures fraternity at the moment. Things that Inso is keen on are:

the Twilight range that will be available from Hasslefree Miniatures. For more information visit here:

The Defiance range that will be available from Spartan Games. For more information, visit here:

And the new Games Workshop Ratling Snipers. For more information visit here:

There are also a few kits from Games Workshop that may be of interest; these being the Valkyrie and the Stormsword kits.

Well...a lot of stuff today; not all of it pix and progress but with all the stuff going on in the Inso household at the moment, I don't think that there will be a huge amount forth coming.
