Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a procesos para producir etanol a partir de material que contiene almidón licuefactando el material que contiene almidón a una temperatura por encima de la temperatura de gelatinización inicial usando una alfa-amilasa; sacarificar usando una glucoamilasa y fermentar usando una cepa de levadura de Saccharomyces cerevisiae depositada con el número de referencia V14/004037 en el National Measurement Institute, Victoria, Australia o una cepa de organismo fermentador que tenga propiedades que sean aproximadamente las mismas que las de la cepa de Saccharomyces cerevisiae depositada o un derivado de la cepa V14/004037 de Saccharomyces que tenga las características definitorias de la cepa V14/004037. La invención también se refiere a una cepa de levadura de Saccharomyces depositada de conformidad con el Tratado de Budapest y que tiene el número de referencia NMI V14/004037 o un derivado de la cepa V14/004037 que muestra una o más características definitorias de la cepa V14/004037.
