Wow. I had high expectations going into part 9, but Araki blew those expectations out of the water. The JoJolands is so tightly crafted and exciting that it's hard to really express.
Part of what makes this section so good is the main cast. The main Joestar this time around is Jodio, the cousin of part 8's Josuke and the great-great-grandson of part 7's Johnny. Jodio immediately stands out as he is a criminal, but he isn't totally ruthless and you want him to succeed. The same goes for his gang, who are all unique and fun to watch, and all get a great deal of

More so than any part of this long-running series, JoJolion is definitely the odd one out. It's by far the longest part yet it left many people unsatisfied by its conclusion. However, I think that part 8 is a masterpiece, despite its many flaws.
Among the flaws, primarily is the underwhelming side cast. The Higashikata family has many characters that range from incredible (Joubin) to the worst character in JoJo history (Joushu). In the middle are some critically underdeveloped characters. The antagonists of the part are similarly unimpressive, save for a few. I won't spoil the ending, but critics of it say it's poorly paced and ... Mar 14, 2026
Chainsaw Man Movie: Reze-hen

add
No amount of pretty animation and nice music can disguise this movie's total lack of any emotion, depth, or substance. The film hints at a few good ideas/themes, but Fujimoto isn't smart enough/doesn't have the balls to actually tackle them.
It's taken me a while to identify exactly why I don't like Denji. His pervert schtick is unfunny, sure, but that trope is so common in anime that I've grown numb to it. No, Denji fails as a character not because he's a pervert, but because the narrative insists he's something more. Through his conversations with Makima and Reze, it's painful how desperate Fujimoto is to ... Feb 28, 2026

JJK is pretty bad. I don't really hate anything about it specifically, but it's just not trying to do anything interesting, making it a waste of my time. It's the most bland, generic battle shonen in existence. Its sheer lack of focus on anything except big dumb fights is probably why it got so popular in the US.
The characters barely even leave an impact. They're so tropey that they actually feel like parodies. There's the Naruto clone, the Sasuke clone, and the girl. Only Gojo has any degree of personality, but he's pretty much just comic relief. Antagonists are boring demons, nothing new here. As with ... Feb 27, 2026

MHA is pretty good, nothing crazy but good. It feels like everything the show was trying to do it did competently, but not impressively.
The biggest weakness of the season is the characters as there are simply too many. They probably get more to do over the rest of the show, but in that case they should have been saved until then. Introducing them now just feels like the writers showing off all their cool powers without factoring in pacing. Of the characters that do get focus, All Might is definitely the best but I'm not a huge fan of Deku. He's ok but his characterization ... Feb 27, 2026
Mob Psycho 100

add
After watching a bunch of edgelord power fantasies, Mob Psycho 100 was a breath of fresh air. It's down-to-earth in a way a lot of anime totally fail to be. Its simplistic artsyle and quirky characters only enhance the charming factor.
The protagonist Mob is a ridiculously overpowered psychic, but he doesn't get any fulfillment from his abilities. Besides contributing to the show's great sense of humor, this immediately makes Mob stand out from other shonen protags. His simplistic desires don't ever get boring, and his lack of confidence is never annoying. He just feels very real in a way not many other anime can claim. The ... Feb 26, 2026
Akame ga Kill!

Akame ga Kill! (don't forget the exclamation point!) is a collection of everything people hate about anime: mindless gore and violence, heaps of fanservice, shallow power fantasies and poorly explained power systems. This was almost definitely written by a teenage, I refuse to believe an adult looked at this and said "yes. This is fine."
The characters are by far the worst part (seems to be a trend with anime I dislike). The MC is nothing more than a lame self-insert, wouldn't be out of place in any generic isekai. Every female character is the the epitome of waifu-bait, they only exist for Redditors to argue ... Feb 25, 2026

Not for me. Attack on Titan spends too much time wallowing in its miserable, post-apocalyptic setting, sacrificing characterization in favor of cheap trauma porn. There is so much death and misery that it gets exhausting after like the 3rd episode, it ends up feeling gratuitous instead of emotional.
The main trio is quite boring and it has some of the most obnoxious side characters ever. Eren is your generic revenge-obsessed teen and Mikasa is as deep and as expressive as a puddle. Armin had potential, but he's too whiny and pathetic for me to care. The Titan designs are pretty sick, though. And the worldbuilding and industrial ... Feb 22, 2026
It's hard to express exactly why I love Steel Ball Run so much. If I had to, I'd say it's a mix of everything I love about JoJo and everything I love about Westerns. I never expected a Japanese comic to be one of the best modern Westerns, but here we are.
The main cast is the strongest the series has seen. Johnny's dynamic with Gyro is great to see, as well as the way the two teach each other, making their bond feel palpable in the way Araki is very good at. The villains, Dio and Valentine, do a great job showcasing the dark side ... Feb 22, 2026
I can't think of a better way to send off the first 6 parts of JoJo. Stone Ocean took a while to get in gear, but once it did, it never let up. Unlike the previous two batches, there's not a single bad episode here. Bohemian Rhapsody is a little ridiculous, but it's still really entertaining. Everything from Heavy Weather to the end is peak JoJo, probably the best finale the series has seen.
Jolyne continues being my favorite Joestar (besides Johnny). Her bond with Emporio and her growing respect for her father are great, and she's just awesome to watch in general. (She got in ... |
