All this talk about wishes got me curious now too. As expected, Hanako and Nene had some bonding time.

Mei Shijima has really grown to me as a character in this series that felt she always belonged here. She's also shown decent amount of wisdom to Nene and others. It was an interesting season imo, very similar to the previous but with some wild emotions from time to time.

Part 2 cour announced lol

Kou being confident that Yashiro would be able to convince Hanako, though it's not up to Shijima and Mitsuba, for they only see this through and assist where help is needed. And Yashiro taking Amane's brush apparition to build a pumpkin carriage to the moon, it seemed as if this is the easy way there.

Despite Yashiro knowing that she wants out of the dream world and having to live less, Hanako wants the exact opposite for her to have a lifelong life, though she makes a wish to have it granted by him to live long, which he makes it a reality by sending her back to the real world. This is further cemented that Shijima didn't want to be an apparition anymore, thereby having her Yorishiro sketchbook revoked and the fake world no more.

Things are back to normal in the real world, though No. 6 The Grim Reaper has yet to be explored...this will come for the 2nd Cour of Season 2 later in July.

A better follow-up to Season 1, though at the cusp of low numbers given the prequel's reception.

It's hard to feel anything this episode when it has probably my biggest issue with this show in general, and one of my only problem this season, that being the really jarring tonal shifts between the comedy and deep moments. Like seriously, Nene poured her heart out for sweet Hanako... just for him to push her off the cloud in the most comedic way ever... Like why. I thought Medalist was bad, but this is just.. jeez.

At least for the most part that final talk with Nene and Shijima was serious, so that I'm glad about. And that final scene where Nene leaves the dream world... damn, they went off with a bang there. Certainly a step-up from season one in every aspect, except for the aforementioned jarring tonal shifts... so yeah, a season three if it keeps the same pace as this Shijima arc.. I'm down for xD

... or a cour 2 works as well, I guess lol.

Good ending we had some cute emotional moments between Nene and Hanako and now Nene is finally back to her world... I just wonder if she'll manage to not die young, I can't wait to watch the sequel!

This arc is just too long but at least it has a nice stop. I think the method to go to the moon should be a proper spaceship since Hanako's dream is to be an astronaut and that'd reflect his unachievable dream. The anime choose a more comedic route than a more meaningful route.

“This is my world. This is where I want to live” ahh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ beautiful finale to part 1 of Hanako kun season 2. Hanako’s villain arc was short lived, but very memorable. He had great intentions, but at the end of the day, Nene would rather live a normal life and try to figure things out rather than be stuck in a fake world where she can’t grow.

“I want you to live” I love that convo on the clouds so much, Hanako is a sweetheart no doubt about it. Nene, and everyone watching this episode, couldn’t help but be moved by his feelings, but Nene deserves a chance to make her dreams come true in reality. Even if things look bleak now and her time is limited.

Lmao at Nene telling Shijima she’d eat right and try to be safe, I don’t think that’s going to prevent your life from running out. I wonder what it’ll be that causes her to die though ๐Ÿค” knowing her it’ll be protecting someone. Hopefully the first wonder will be able to help out in the next cour!

Shijima smile when Nene said she made a wonderful world was so damn sweet. That was probably the best thing anyone ever told her. Glad she’s finally free of the responsibilities of being a wonder now too.

Great ending, so hype for part 2. This was way better than season 1 to me.

Beautiful finale. This isn’t a battle shounen or anything so I wasn’t expecting a “final battle” with Hanako, but Kou and Shijima kinda gave us that somewhat lol, Kou was badass there but still not enough to match up to Hanako, but if we’re being real this wouldn’t have been enough to convince Hanako anyway. The real deciding factor was Nene, and boy was the moment on the clouds sweet, she pretty much forced Hanako’s real feelings out kinda like Kou did with Mitsuba before. Even though Hanako was a villain in this arc, I can’t deny that I love seeing him being back to his usual self, his intentions were good too after all, can’t stay mad at him lol, let’s just hope this is the last time he pulls a stunt like this.

And finally, at long last, everyone made it out of the fake world, it was a long arc over all these weeks but I loved every second of it, so many fantastic moments were had, it was the arc that kept on giving, and it didn’t even stop after they made it out, that last moment between Shijima and Nene was the cherry on top, even if Shijima was the one that put them all in that world, Nene still thanked her for making it so wonderful, I’m kinda hoping this isn’t the last we see of Shijima because her and Nene make such a nice duo. And the final scene after the credits with Shijima and the real one, I’m not quite sure what to make of it, like is the real one alive after all? Nonetheless, it was a great spot to end the season on, knowing that Shijima and her real self are at peace.

And that was it for the very long awaited sequel to Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, and I can’t tell you enough how happy I was to wake up this morning and see that a follow-up has already been announced, unlike in 2020 we aren’t waiting 5 years for this one! Although it’s not quite a Season 3, I’ll absolutely take a cour 2, and if it’s truly coming in summer, oh boy that is looking like a monster season lol, I can’t wait. But so this post isn’t too incredibly long, I’ll keep the season review short-ish, but man what an amazing sequel this was, I really loved all it had to offer, it felt so good to be getting more Hanako-kun after all these years, and the arcs this season held were great, some are complaining about the length of the fake world arc but imo it was perfect, and I really loved the story with Shijima herself along with the developments of the main cast.

OP and ED definitely held candles to the first season’s too, I don’t think they quite beat the originals but they perfectly captured the same feelings, I’ll be looking forward to what songs they cook up for the next part as well. And now, I wait again for more Hanako, but like I said before, the wait is much shorter this time and it makes me so happy!

No frogs involved on this one:

This was so cute... And I kinda understand Hanako not being able to say no:

So, that was that. You need to stay after the credits because it can tell you what's coming in the next part.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Who wouldn't want to protect Nene and that was certainly a scary way of introducing the final mystery, so glad we won't have to wait at all this time.

A bittersweet episode for sure. Especially that scene with Mei in the hospital bed drawing, talking to spirits(?) as she is dying. Also, Nene knows she has only a short time & that is unresolved. That is one wish Hanako cannot grant.

So generally I have nothing to say I think it was a good wrap up to a season which had a fairly strong second half. I firmly think this anime is amazing when it takes itself seriously and doesn't revert to gag comedy. I think season 2 started to really pick up or at least get more interesting when everyone got trapped in Shijima's painting.

Generally I struggle to keep up with the plot because the gag comedy moments just kinda ruin it for me. I think season 1 was generally better but I did like this season. Plus I think Shijima is a very strong character. I would say the same for hanako but he goofs of too much for me to like him.

Looking forward to what they are listing as Season 2 2nd season for some reason. But I assume they just mean Season 2 part 2

I enjoyed this season, especially seeing more of the new mysteries and their powers. The main focus was Yashiro’s lifespan and Hanako trying to save her, even to the point of trapping her in a fake world. But it was pretty obvious that Yashiro wouldn’t accept that—she wanted to live her life as long as she could, and Hanako respected her wish. A good ending, but there’s still more story to tell, so… will we ever get a part 2 in the middle of the year? Rating: 7.5/10.

Nene asking hanako will you make wish come true (living for 90 years), then at the end revealing the sixth wonder Grim reaper, does this clearly tell you that hanako will somehow make the sixth wonder prolong her life?

More adorable Hananene moments and handholding โค๏ธ I thought Hanako was going to kiss Nene when they were up in the clouds ๐Ÿ˜…
Finally Nene was able to convince Hanako to go back to the real world.
I really liked Shijima's character development through this season especially her last moments as a school mystery with Nene.
The battle scene between Hanako and Kou was so good and ofc Kou didn't stand a chance ๐Ÿ˜†
Perfect Finale for this season. Easy 9/10 Rating ๐Ÿ‘

The animation this season was just as good as in the first one, but having read the manga before watching this season this time around really made me appreciate the amazing job the studio made. What an amazing season, it covered my favorite arc of the whole series and did it splendidly.

This episode made me tear up and the foreshadowing for the next arc is as eerie as it should!!!! Not to mention I just noticed something the Mei Shijima clone said to Nene before the yorishiro was destroyed is a MASSIVE foreshadowing for the whole story and the manga is reaching that point and I'm extra hyped now!!!!

Such good luck we're getting a second part for this season this summer, I'm beyond myself TT-TT

Well the arc took up the entirety of the bloody season but that's all fine and dandy because there is another season coming out in 3 months so YAY! One thing I feel scammed about is Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun is actually school bound so that's false advertising if you ask me. Well they decided to turn Hanako-Kun back into the good guy and he helps them get out of the Fake world finally and life is back to normal in the real World, But I wonder what destroying the Artist girls like art book actually did tho? Because Idk what significance that held to the plot but maybe I am just a bit stupid tbh.

Hmm, hard to say why, but this season didn't hit me like season 1. I recall enjoying it, but I had trouble engaging with this season. Been a while, so it's probably more to do with me. Or maybe it's that I went into season 1 with low expectations.

OK-ish conclusion for an overall underwhelming final arc. Don't know about others but unfortunately, I never clicked with Shijima's story and Hanako going the extra mile to "protect" Nene just for him to give up on his plan after some baseless optimistic words felt anticlimactic to say the least.
Not to mention this arc made me realize just how useless Kou is as shounen protagonist. Honestly, I hope Part 2 proves me wrong because so far my boy is dangerously reaching "Takemichi" levels of irrelevance.

Anyways, I think this second season was still fairly solid despite Shijima's arc taking practically half of its runtime. I enjoyed every episode prior to this final arc and interactions between Hanako and Nene prior to him going bananas and imprisoning her in a cell remained as lovely as usual.

6,5/10 -> 7/10 - Looking forward to seeing what Part 2 has to offer in July.

Nene's too pure. "I'll try not to die" :( It's sad but honestly what could you do if you knew when you're going to die? If fate is real, you trying to avoid death is technically already "written" and you'll either cause death on your own or will die anyways.

Major twist at the end. One of school wonder is freaking death itself!!! If they're THE death, than I don't see how Hanako and gang can ever save Nene. If they're one of many reapers with limitations, then they can be beaten. Now I wonder if this school wonder is destined to take Nene's life, or THE death is involved.

Anyways, S1 was great, but I enjoyed S2 P1 more. Maybe nuke about Nene's short lifespan was too impactful? 9/10
