Sentai Daishikkaku 2nd Season

Season 2 of Go! Go! Loser Ranger! continues its subversive twist on the sentai genre, peeling back the curtain on the corrupt Dragon Keepers while exploring deeper ideological conflicts between monsters, humans, and those caught in between. The first half, unfortunately, suffers from sluggish pacing and a disjointed flow—it takes its time setting up characters and themes we've mostly already been introduced to. But once it hits the second half, the plot gains serious momentum, throwing us into heavier revelations and more morally gray confrontations. While still compelling overall, it sacrifices some of the snarky charm and comedic edge that defined its early episodes in ... favor of a darker, more The Boys-like tone. It works, but a little levity wouldn’t have hurt.

The ensemble remains a strong point. D continues to be an engaging lead—conflicted, cunning, and more human than monster at times. Hisui, Yakushi, and the reemergence of key monsters and hybrid experiments add layers to the narrative. While some character motivations get a bit murky in the shuffle, the overall cast is still easy to root for (or hate, in the case of the Dragon Keepers). Speaking of which—yes, the Dragon Keepers remain despicable and cartoonishly authoritarian, but that’s kind of the point. Watching D undermine them from within is still endlessly satisfying.

The animation, as expected, is fantastic. Dynamic fight choreography, great character expressions, and smooth transitions elevate even the slower moments. Major action scenes—especially late-season Keeper battles—are full of visual flair and tension. It’s all cleanly executed and polished.

The soundtrack does a great job balancing energetic hero themes with darker, more dramatic scores. Both the OP by ORANGE RANGE and ED by Fukurow Note are catchy and thematically on point. Voice acting is consistently strong, especially from Hiroshi Kamiya (D) and Yuki Kaji (Red Keeper), who bring serious emotional weight to their roles.

Despite some rough pacing early on and a more serious tone than expected, this season was still very enjoyable. The world continues to build in interesting ways, and the blend of anti-hero rebellion, social commentary, and sentai satire still feels fresh. I do wish it kept more of the sharp humor and sarcasm from Season 1’s early episodes, but the shift into a grimmer tone doesn't ruin the experience—just changes it.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Season 2 may not hit the same comedic highs as its debut, but it delivers on emotional impact, thematic depth, and stylish action. It doubles down on its darker elements while giving its characters room to grow—sometimes at the cost of momentum, but rarely at the cost of quality. If you're in for a twisted take on tokusatsu with guts, grit, and just a hint of satire, this is still well worth watching. And yeah—the Dragon Keepers still suck.

The series did a very interesting job with being able to adapt at a slow pace in the first season, most people unlike me found this very unappealing and its clear that influenced the development of the second season, while its still more experimental than the last it definitely feels rushed after episode 6, cut content from the manga (which doesn't actually seem like that much of a problem rn) amongst a reduced quality, so yeah people are gonna complain about the pacing being too fast like they did before complaining it was too slow, ... however if you have watched the first season already and like the characters, story, humor, etc. You should totally give it a try, as long as you are paying attention the story is comprehensible albeit a little crowded at times. Hopefully the quality of the first season returns in the next one but its still a very enjoyable ride.

Holy shit just stop watching after the school arc and just read the manga, hopefully they do get a next season and get less pressure to adapt more chapters, honestly i don't know how the animation got worse in the final episode, whats worse if you were able to keep up with everything before now its literally impossible.

I speak as a manga reader, but regardless this season has been a disappointment. Even if you haven't read the manga you can tell the second arc of the season is clearly rushed, the pacing is not good. Also lots of things have been changed, and one of them is pivotal for the plot later in the series. It's clear that there won't be a third season, and if there will be one it will go into a different path for the future events. If you haven' read the manga I recommend to do it, You'll be pleased to see what it was supposed to ... happend.
