Trivial things

Image
I tend to feel a bit guilty (maybe not quite the right word) for posting about life's trivialities when there is so much tragedy and suffering in the world. As if only the Big Things count, when of course life is made up of mostly day to day routines, the little things. Below: Friday's late evening sky.   Regardless, here are a few little things from the past week: Yes, I did another round of decluttering. Eight boxes, one giant contractor bag and one extra-large garbage bag filled with stuff I really don't need/use. I was spurred on by John's recent posts about packing for his impending move, and my own impending (temporary) packing for the floor reno in a few weeks. As you can no doubt tell, I spent most of the weekend painting, this time some of the new interior doors that were installed in the summer.    I got the basement door and the hall bifold door done on Saturday, though admittedly only the outside of the bifold door was painted. I can't remove it myself t...

"This will hurt..."

Anyone ever have their feet, ankles, and knees lasered with a surgical (hot) laser?   Holy bleep-bleep-bleep it hurts! NOTHING like the cold laser the acupuncturist has used on my feet and knees.   Below: Morning sky on the 21st.     I had an appointment with a podiatrist/chiropodist earlier today, first time ever. (I have a lot of right foot issues such as arthritis, plantar fasciitis, etc. with some added new pain that I wanted to have checked out.)   Below: Not a good pick I was too far away, but I spied this hawk in a dead tree while I was standing at a bus stop yesterday morning.     She thinks she can help me, explained why I was having the new pain (after examining my feet and the way I stand and walk), then took me into a room to sit behind a plexiglass screen, handed me extra dark sunglasses, said, "This will hurt" and proceeded to hot (surgical) laser various areas of my feet, ankles, and knees. Ouch! Supposedly this resets the inflammed/dam...

Mancat Monday with Jake

Image
Jake is another mancat in our complex with a home. I hadn't seen him in a few weeks, but he showed up not long after I got home from errands yesterday. He got half a can of Fancy Feast and some Greenies, for his troubles. 😻 He hung out for a while then wandered off to make his rounds. He's more standoffish than George, not as much of a mooch either. I saw a lovely charcoal grey cat sporting a pink collar last week, sitting at the end of a driveway and watching a young brown tabby (that might or might not have a home) roll around on the ground in front of her, wanting to be friends. I really wish people would keep their fur babies inside, we live adjacent to a two major city thoroughfares, but ultimately it's not my business. 🫤 Anyway, any kitty is welcome to come for FF and treats, if they so desire. 😻🙂

New furry neighbour

This is Kenny, 10 years old, has cataracts, very friendly when he knows you're a safe person, doesn't like men so much. He and his mom live in the rental unit on the other side of the common walkway from my own unit. I was just chatting with her for a few minutes and already know more about her and her family than I do about anyone else in this entire complex. 😲😁 George wasn't too happy that Kenny was so close while he was snacking on his Fancy Feast, and he slunk off when he finished.  Have a terrific day and weekend, all.

Moving along

My flooring is scheduled for the week of October 21.   I treated myself to some cut sunflowers from a grocery store over the weekend.   They wanted to schedule it for the week of October 7th, but I'm off that week and the week of the 14th too, and already have a few medical appointments, plus am tentatively booked to visit my Brighton friends. So the week of the 21st it is. I don't have a lot of large furniture upstairs, but I do have a lot of little stuff (plants, decor items, decorative baskets, smaller furniture, plus the home office desks and equipment), and one of the back rooms is filled with empty boxes, packing paper and the like. I'm dreading having to pack it all up and move it around room to room for the entire week. Plus clean behind the installers before getting everything back in place each day. But...short term pain for long term again and all that rah rah rah go, Kim stuff.  We got 7cm/70mm of rain overnight Friday/Saturday AM! The new owner next door ha...

Thankful for a lovely day

Image
I took a walk around Lake Ontario Park on Sunday morning. Nothing out of the ordinary, just an enjoyable stroll on a lovely day! No real updates at my end, other than I paid the 50% for the flooring, so I'm committed now. Oh, and the person who bought the adjoining unit doesn't seem to have moved in yet. They come for a few hours after work (longer last weekend) but aren't sleeping here. I think they must be painting, top to bottom. There's no hammering (yet?), but I can hear something being dragged across the floor from time time. I hope they're in favour of area rugs (the previous neighbours were not). Time will tell!
