Full moon madness

Image
Last night was the full moon, and boy, it was tech madness yesterday! I had picked up a virus or malware ("severe" threat) on my work laptop a few weeks ago, came attached via Chrome. It was caught by all the antivirus software in place, and a full scan showed no impact to my actual files. (I work off our network anyway, nothing is stored locally on the laptop.) I was okay for a couple of weeks, all scans clear; however, another full scan yesterday caught it again! (It's a trojan script that hides in Chrome's user data cache.) So I spent the day running deep scans (again, nothing impacted, as the files are not on the computer itself), doing a remote session with our IT support person and so on. The upshot is that he will reimage my laptop on Thursday morning and install Windows 11 at the same time. (Most staff are, I think, still running Windows 10, as ITServices wasn't allowing us to upgrade.) Anyway, it turns out that I also have this same threat on my personal ...

Friday Funnies

From my Pinterest feed, as always!   Below: I know Katie's mom understands the total asphyxiation! Below: For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. You have to be mature enough to know of the song, though!  :-) Have a lovely day and weekend!

One Word Wednesday: "Flawsome"

Image
I was listening to one of my meditation/inspirational apps in the wee hours this morning, and the woman was talking about being "flawsome." I love this made up word, and if it hasn't yet made it into a dictionary of modern words, I hope it soon does! I strove for impossible perfection when I was younger, but now, in my mature years, I'm happy to let that nonsense go and be perfectly imperfect, to be flawsome . Have a lovely day; comments are off.

Well, look who's back!

Image
After 3+ weeks, look who was on my doorstep this morning, when I got back from a walk! George! I figured he was being kept inside, either by his human or another. He's certainly not lacking for food, and I don't think my can of Fancy Feast was his first...or third...breakfast of the day. He didn't quite finish it all, and for a moment I thought he was going to barf it up. LOL. If/when he shows up again, he can have half a can, not a full one. I didn't give him any Greenies treats, either; he certainly doesn't need them. It was nice to have a few minutes of kitty time, though.  😺

Apologies if I've posted any of these before. I try not to post duplicates, but you never know! (We have leaf pick up next week. Ha!) Again, this one is for those of you in the U.S. who will be celebrating Thanksgiving soon. Have a great day and weekend, everyone.

Thankful Thursday

Image
It's a gorgeous morning here, "mild" and sunny, so I thought I'd post a few "thankfuls" for the day. The pic below was snapped in late afternoon earlier this month. I loved the setting sun on the vapour trails. I'm thankful for my early morning walks and for the ability to move. (I'm also thankful for Voltaren gel and my extra-large heating pad, but that's another matter. Hahaha.) I'm thankful for good friends, two of whom visited last Sunday. We braved Costco, which actually wasn't too crazy at all, surprisingly. I'm thankful that the countdown till our holiday work break is on...at least I'm counting down! I'm thankful for the remaining family that I do have, thankful to have any at all. I will be spending Christmas with my aunt this year (Mom's younger sister). At first I thought no, given that my aunt is...uh...well, let's just say that she has a strong personality, but I reconsidered that. I don't want to sp...

Before the funnies, I wanted to note the reason I haven't been posting the Monday Mancat Memories for the past few weeks. It's partly because I didn't have many for October 2008, and partly because it's been too hard, emotionally, to do so right now. The fourth anniversary of Nicki's death is coming up on November 23rd, then my mom's birthday is December 19th, then it's Christmas, followed by my mom and step-dad's wedding anniversary on December 28th. In January, February, and March I will have the anniversaries of Derry's, Chumley's, Annie's and Mom's passings, in that order. Canadian winters are tough to endure, even without all the losses. Anyway, enough of that! Here are a few funnies from my Pinterest feed, to wind out the work week: The final one, below, is for those of you in the U.S. who have your Thanksgiving coming up at the end of the month. Have a terrific day!

Seriously, 2023?

Image
What the heck is with 2023?! First Derry passed, then my mom, then Poppy , Puddy , Brian , and today I woke to find out that  Julie , of Mickey's Musings, has run off to the Bridge.   (Sadly, we've lost many others, both human and non, this year as well.) Then there's the whole global situation, which is filled with divisiveness and hate. (I stopped watching the news last winter; I stick to more uplifting things just to maintain some semblance of sanity.) I know there has been so much good too, so much Light in this year, but for some reason, 2023 seems very skewed to loss and grief. Maybe that's a reflection of my own journey through these months. Anyway, if anyone is needing a bit of inspiration right now, here are a few images from my Pinterest feed. I'm wishing you all Blessings and Peace.

Wordless Wednesday: Not a welcome sight!

Image
Not what I wanted to see, getting up this morning. But...We're one day closer to Spring; yippee!  :-) Comments are off; it's "wordless" for you! P.S. No, I did not get a car; my neighbours are using my driveway for their second vehicle while they wait for a parking spot to open up in the complex. (LONG wait!)
