Scenes from a waterfront park

Image
I snapped these on September 19th, before an appointment. The clinic is located in the Woolen Mill , and there's a lovely 1.5 km waterfront trail there.  Below: The LaSalle Causeway is up to allow the tour boat to pass through. The Royal Military College of Canada is in the background. Below: If anyone can identify this duck, let me know. (Click to enlarge the snapshot.) The closest I could come is a female or non-breeding male ruddy duck (wide bill, a bit of white on the cheek). Duck #12 at  https://birdwatchinghq.com/ducks-in-ontario/ . But I'm not certain; I've never seen a duck like this before. It's a beautiful spot, great for birders. I had to taxi back and forth; it's not really accessible by bus. I certainly couldn't find my way without GPS, it's in a really old (and very rough) part of the city, with small/short winding streets that twist this way and that. If I need to return at some point for another appointment, I'll be sure to take my camer...

Monday Mancat Memories

Image
For the last post from September 2008, here are a few of the kittens (some of them probably baby mancats -- lol) that were available for adoption at a local Global Pet Foods. One of the kittens was being cuddled by a large man(cat), my dad, when he was visiting.   Sweet babies. I hope they found wonderful forever homes and are still living their best lives.

I don't have many pics of the boys from September 2008, surprisingly, and I have something else in mind for next week's post. But here are a few miscellaneous ones of the boys, and Annie too, in chronological order. Derry was full of beans, having fun with something. Either a cat toy or a piece of mulch! LOL. Below: Annie's typical reaction to Nicki's proximity. Nicki was such a bully and brat, and he never let up on her. The garden seems especially empty now, as I had the addition removed from the fence this past Thursday.  There had been workers repairing fences last week, and I had popped out over lunch on Thursday to ask if they would be willing to remove the fence addition and repair the gate (for an agreed upon amount). They were able to do it at the end of the day, so that was great. I admit, though, that when they started taking it down, I almost cried. That addition had been up for over 13 years, and it marked the end of an era, of cats in the garden.  Of cours...

Tabby Tuesday: Aha! The Truth!

Image
As I've mentioned, this fellow (first spied in June) has been showing up for several consecutive days, mooching breakfast. I thought he must have a home, as he's in good shape, and I just found out from a neighbour that yes, he does indeed have a home on our street. He's Leonard's housemate (or was, as Leonard is now missing), and he has free access in and out of his house. Apparently there are several of us who have been feeding him, and he makes the rounds, mooching what he can. I'm relieved that he does have a home, with various suckers like me around to pad out his tummy. The neighbour told me that there are a couple of current strays that some people are feeding, as they want the cats to stick around and keep the mouse and rat population under control. I haven't seen any strays lately myself, but any are welcome to some food here too, if they wish. At least now I won't worry about this fellow being homeless, or be concerned that he won't get food th...
