spooky spooky

this weekend we continued our tradition from last year and went to a haunted house down in fremont. christian once again fell all over himself in the fake spinning hallway and got scared WAY too easily! (p.s. nick and jen: i don’t know how he ever worked at the haunted forest seeing how easily he is spooked.) i ended up walking through it attached to taryn, who was holding hands with brendon. christian’s signature moves: 1) shrieking and throwing himself against the nearest wall, 2) running for his life and leaving me behind, and 3) running while squeezing my hand and dragging me behind. it was pretty hysterical.

happy birthday kelly!

happy birthday to my wonderful sister kelly today! she sent me this picture to show me what they did for her at work today. good to know someone is supplying her candy without me around. (you probably can’t zoom in enough but that necklace and garland are made out of whoppers.) kelly was here my first year and a half in san francisco and it hasn’t been the same since she left. here’s to hoping that she and jim come back next year! if they don’t, we may have to think about relocating haha.

financial crisis and pokemon

i think this explanation of the current economic situation is pretty genius. but if it were me at fourteen the cool thing was pogs, not pokemon. seriously what were those things? little cardboard circles? and those plastic things you threw at them, were they called slammers or something? whoever thought of those got rich until people figured out how dumb they were.

tahoe

we had a great relaxing (and very cold) weekend in tahoe. ahh. while we were there i got the itch to get some snowshoes and go back when there is some real snow on the ground. who’s in?

sidenote: freaky! i just found this picture of christian and i taken on our honeymoon in tahoe two and a half years ago. now i’m analyzing the differences. christian couldn’t tell at first which one was then and which was now!

cheap date night

christian and i had a great, cheap date night with the hatches tuesday. they were great, the good was great, it was just great. and in light of the economic situation going on, i thought i would just outline the wonderful cheapness that was our night. (maybe this should become a weekly challenge for us, date night under $20 challenge?)

FIRST: dinner at kasa indian eatery

we met tim (the co-owner) a month before the restaurant opened and were so excited about the idea. the food is tasty and reasonably priced. especially considering that the lamb is grass-fed and the chicken is free range (code for: christian will actually eat it).

SECOND: ice cream cones at bi-rite creamery

seriously AMAZING. i love the balsamic strawberry so much that i usually only order it. this time i tried to be adventurous and got cookies and cream also. kim got the mexican chocolate and salted caramel, but wished she would have gotten the butter pecan (right?) and christian had “the best ice cream experience of his life” with some honey lavender.

THIRD: brendon truscott’s art exhibition

his art is great! we all had a great time talking and looking at his fun installations. afterward he showed us his studio space which was equally fascinating!

so, here’s the final run-down:

3 kati rolls: $11.95
1 thums up indian soda: $1.50
2 ice cream cones: $5.90
cool art exhibit: FREE

GRAND TOTAL: $19.35
