Ready for a New Year

I worked in my sewing room yesterday as it had some how mysteriously turned into the local dump. What a mess! I got a new cubby shelf and 4 fabric cubbies to help with the organization.

A plastic rolling cart helped get stuff out of sight under the counter.

Now I can actually see and use the cutting mats.

I lined up some quick projects beside the machine so this week I can tackle those!
I'll have some time as Mike has some work lined up in the next week.

Happy New Year! I hope the coming year brings lots of quilting and adventures.

IPad Cover

My brother-in-law ordered an iPad for himself yesterday! I made this case for him to keep it protected. I found the tutorial online here. It is well written, quick and easy to follow.

Latest Handwork

I have been out hiking and so haven't been at my sewing machine. Instead I have been taking handwork along. Here are the projects I have finished so far!

These candle mats are a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law.

It's September!

Wow! I missed posting during August, the whole month! I guess I have been too busy having fun! I really have been working on quilt projects. We traveled to Wisconsin.  The weather was great when we were there. We walked in the woods everyday and added to our bird list for the year, rowed on Turtle Lake and the Wolf River, and were inspired by the beautiful around us!

I took some handwork along on the trip. Since I'm a Piece O'Cake Designs fan, I have had a few of their projects going. Here is a small top I finished while on the trip.

I have also taken Becky Goldsmith's Applique Outside the Lines class, so I finished one block and just started the next one.

Summer Finishes

I have been busy trying to finish some of the things that have piled up in my quilting studio. Of course, I have added to the pile as time has gone by.

I made this Sweetwater label Crew project with the Lucy's Crab Shack Moda line of fabric.

With the scraps I made this runner.

Then I bought a cute and easy pattern, and made these runners.

We had a great week hiking last week. We hiked 7 days along the South Fork of the Flathead River through the Bob Marshall Wilderness. It was a glorious time.

Deck Improvement Project

Oh, how I love to sit on the deck in the nice weather. I often eat every meal out there.

Just recently I noticed that my table's umbrella was looking a little shabby. The frame was fine, but the fabric cover had seen better days. I wondered if I might be able to sew a new cover if I took the old one off and used it for a pattern.

On my last trip to Joann Fabrics I checked out the outdoor canvas and it was 50% off. I was convinced by my additional 10 % off coupon. I bought the fabric!

Over the last two days, I removed the old cover.
I ripped the cover apart for a pattern. Then I measured, cut, sewed, spray painted, and Tah Da!

I just love it! We ate lunch today in its beautiful shade.

Now, I have to finish the new shower curtain and window treatment for the bathroom!

Mini Twister

I just finished my first mini twister quilt. While in Utah I bought the little ruler. I used the scraps of my Little Apples large twister to make this one.

I have another mini ready to quilt but need the right color of green thread to finish it.

More Summer Farming

I have been busy sewing in between times I need to play nurse for my husband who had surgery last week. I think I am better at sewing than nursing. It sure took a long time for him to get back on his feet. I think he is on the mend so I will be spending more time hiking than "farming".

Weekly Progress

I have finally felt productive. I finished this little basket quilt with a pattern from Jan Patek and a Lilac Hill petit four.
The Farmer's Wife Blocks are coming along. I finished 4 more last night! I have close to 40 completed.

Round Quilt

My friend, Robin, and I tried out the 9 degree rule using a pattern from the Moda website. Here is the one I made with the Moda Freebird line by MoMo. I love the vintage look.

Wasatch Front Shop Hop 2012

I joined Barbara and Sheila for a great day of quilt shop hopping. What a great day of fabric therapy!

New Farmer's Wife Blocks

Wow! it has been a long time since I posted last. I have been sewing, but the progress has been slow. Here are 5 new Farmer's Wife Quilt blocks. I have 35 finished. That is about one third of them. They have been fun. I hope to finish a lot more this summer!
