I can't believe

I only have 16 more working days until I retire.  31 days until Christmas.

So much to do and so little time.  We are going to my oldest sisters for Thanksgiving.  It will be nice to see them all.  Two of my nieces will be there with their families and of course my other sister.  I am making a salad and baked corn to take.

Saturday Shirley and I are getting together to bake some Christmas cookies.  I will mix up a couple of batches on Friday to take over to bake.  Hopefully with a 4 day weekend I will be able to get the rest of my presents wrapped and get them ready to mail out.  Most of my gifts have to be mailed to nieces in North Carolina, New York and Oregon and a friend in Virginia.  I also hope to get my Christmas cards written out.

Nothing else happening in my life.  I think right now I am just living to retire.  lol

Till next time.

PS Christmas Village back from the framer

PS Christmas Village
I just got this back from the framer this morning.
Can't wait to see it hung in my office
I took my sister out to breakfast this morning for her birthday and gave her the 12 ornaments.  She was stunned.

Ornament 12

Noel Santa
Yarn Tree Kit
This is the last ornament for my sister's birthday present.  I stitched this one several years ago and never finished it into an ornament.  I think it is just perfect for the last ornament in my birthday surprise.

Till next time.

I have one more ornament to finish.  I am working on it and should have it finished tomorrow.  Well actually I have to have it finished tomorrow.  I am taking her out to breakfast for her birthday on Saturday November 20th so everything has to be done by then.  I can't wait to see her face when she opens the box.  I bought a Christmas storage box and put them all in there.  It can then be the storage box for them.

Till next time.

I'm bummed

My friend Sue is very, very upset with Bob and me.  When she left the last time after being here for 11 days we made plans for her to come back in December so we could go out to dinner to celebrate Christmas and exchange presents.  We have been doing this every year since she moved to Virginia.  I asked her to come on Friday and leave on Tuesday.  She seemed OK with this plan.  Then a week later she called and said she had to stay longer.  I asked that she stick to our original plan and she kept insisting she had to stay longer.  I finally told her that Bob did not want her to stay longer this time.  She got mad and hung up on me.  She called on Saturday while we had some friends over for dinner and told me she was not coming at all.  She couldn't go out to dinner with us knowing we didn't want her.  I tried to explain that we did want her to come but not for any longer then we agreed to.  I didn't want to discuss this with our friends being there so I told her I couldn't talk right then.  I tried calling back later but haven't heard from her.  I have also e-mailed her several times but she hasn't responded to the e-mails.  I guess I have lost a friend of over 40 years.  Bob and I have had several arguments and discussions in the last couple of days ending up with everything in the world being my fault.  In one of our discussions he asked me if I would want Sue to come again for 11 days and after thinking about it for 24 hours I told him yes.  At least when she is there I have some one to talk to.  All he does is sleep from the time we finish dinner to the time I go to bed.  Lots of company he is.  Well that is my fault since he can't sleep when he comes to bed because according to him I snore.  So Monday night I started sleeping in the guest room so he could sleep once he came to bed.  Didn't make any difference since last night he slept on the sofa from the time he got home from having dinner with some friends until I went to bed.  What a horrible time of year to have all of this happening.  I am retiring in 36 days and it is Holiday time.  I should be happy but instead all I do is cry at the drop of a hat.  This to will pass and I have got to make up my mind that I will not let this situation ruin my favorite time of year  Christmas.

On the bright side I have 3 more ornaments to finish for my sister this weekend and then I am taking her to breakfast on November 20th for her birthday and will give them to her then.  Can't wait to see her face.  I will post a picture of the last 3 ornaments this weekend once I finish them.

Till next time.

I DID IT

I handed in my letter of resignation on Monday.  I am officially retiring on December 17.  Took them 24 hours to acknowledge the receipt of the letter.  I had originally planned to make my last day of work December 23 but when SS said I would be eligible effective January 1st I decided to move it up a week.  I know I am doing the right thing but I am anxious about this next phase of my life.  I know everything will work out and after working for 46 years I deserve some time for me and to do things I want to do.  My biggest  worry is Bob, I am afraid he is going to resent my being home everyday while he has to go to work for the next 3 1/2 years or so.

Bob and I went to Delaware this past weekend to visit Gerry and Rose.  It was a relaxing weekend and a nice visit with them.  Bob has been friends with Gerry for over 25 years and we don't see much of them since they moved to Delaware.  We really didn't do much except go out to dinner on Saturday night.  Other than than we just sat around and talked.

This weekend we are having some friends over for dinner.  We are having duck if Bob gets his act together.

Till next time.
