The World Cup match between USA and Belgium last night ended in pure drama - it was as if King Golloch himself led a line of mighty Dwarven warriors, defending against wave of attack after attack. But alas the mighty USA did fall, joining England, Spain, Italy and others in defeat.
There is however a silver lining our friends across the Atlantic Ocean, because now you have the time to paint more miniatures!
Valiant in defence but ultimately beaten by the bruising Belgians
To commiserate the USA not quite reaching the quarter finals, today’s discount code is amassive 25% off on the website, the biggest of the competition so far! That’s right, 25% off. If your country is out of the World Cup, or indeed, never actually managed to qualify – Scotland, Ireland and Wales we’re looking at you ;) - you can use this code in thewebstore* for 24 HOURS ONLY. The code is HEROHOWARD25 Here are a few of our recommended choices for what to pick up… Deadzone – Mega Deal - Sci-fi Skirmishes in an Urban Battlezone

LOKA - The Game of Elemental Strategy
With rules and miniatures inspired by chess coupled with a simple dice combat mechanism, LOKA is a fantastic team based game that you can play with the wife and kids, or take down to your local club and have some fun with. Highly tactical, this is a game that all strategists will enjoy.
The Bloodmire Legion - Kings of War Undead Mega Deal The Bloodmire Legion is a fantastic deal packed full of glorious Undead, including tonnes of rotting zombies, embalmed mummies and howling werewolves, plus all the plastic skeletal infantry you could ever need - great for Kings of War or other mass battle fantasy games. Following on from last’s week huge success at Adepticon we’re at not one but two shows this weekend! Mantic at PAX East Ronnie has already kicked off the weekend with PAX East in Boston, previewing the new Mars Attacks figures and teaching people how to play LOKA, Deadzone and DreadBall. There’s even a small selection of Battlezones terrain with them. To find out more about what’s going on at PAX, click here. Mantic at Salute Salute is the biggest UK show at the year and Mantic are there in force with a huge demonstration area where you can learn how to play all of our games. We’ve got a tremendously limited amount of the Battlezones Terrain plus Deadzone and DreadBall. You can find us at stand TJ08. Finally, you can also find out what comes on each sprue in our Battlezones Hub. |
Open Day Focus: Rage of the Elements!
The first Mantic LOKA Tournament is being held at the Mantic Open Day on the 17th May. It is a team-based event, where you and your partner will engage other teams for victory. Mantic Open Day
Mantic Games had an open day today in Nottingham. This was split between a slightly creepy abandoned medical centre (which is apparently going to be their new HQ at some point in the near future) and their current headquarters.
...and the Judge Dredd game...
The 'Hospital' hosted the tournaments (Dreadball and Kings of War), demo's of some of Mantics game systems as well as hosting demo's from the guys behind Dropzone Commander and the Judge Dredd game. Their headquarters meanwhile hosted the seminars in addition to having some cabinets filled with some fun new stuff that very few people have seen yet.
I'll leave the sneak pics till the end...that way you might look at the rest of this article as well, lol.
Demo's under-way...
Judge Dredd, Dropzone Commander, Kings of War, Loka and Warpath.
I had a couple of demo's myself in fact...
Dropzone Commander...
| New terrain sets. |
| You got a free model if you bought a starter set at the show...I was too poor to do so unfortunately... |
There were also some nice things in the cabinets...
Ogre Warlock and Zombie Troll Shaman...and some bits just behind them if you look closely...
Mars Attacks...
...and some other things of interest...one of these photos (Abyssal Molochs) is courtesy of a gentleman from the 'Mantic Madness' Facebook group as their one was clearer than mine.
A few other people with us were also taking pictures so if they've snapped anything of note then I'll post them as they appear.
I'd also like to thank Mantic Games for hosting the event and Titan Games for arranging the minibus.
Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

Mantic Newsletter - Deadzone
I'll be heading to their open day myself tomorrow...It's not just Deadzone that's going to be of interest there either ;-)
Happy Holidays!
Before we start, we would like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving!
If you're looking for a Black Friday deal or something nice for the holidays, check out our Christmas specials section on the website, which has now been updated with new goodies! Deadzone gets a street date! Yep, Deadzone will be available from retailers from the 14th December – just in time for Christmas!
Control the most dangerous soldiers in the galaxy as you fight your way through urban battlezones to achieve your objectives!
Our Kickstarters have already begun shipping – which will include pledge rewards for retailers who backed the project - and our web pre-orders will ship slightly after that. Exciting times!
Mantic Open Day is tomorrow!
Tomorrow is our Open Day, and we’re very excited. Not only have we got our DreadBall and Kings of War tournaments, Mars Attacks, Deadzone and LOKA demoes, as well as Kings of War PLUS our sculptor, painter and artists all on hand.
Find out what our creatives are up too.
We’ve got guests for the first time in the shape of Hawk Wargames, who make the very lovely Dropzone Commander, Warlord Games and Mongoose have Judge Dredd there too. All in all, we’re expecting a full house. Scratch that, we’ve got so many people coming, we’re actually having to spread out across both of our sites. If you're coming, make sure you still head on over to the address on the ticket product page as normal, just be aware that for seminars etc, we will be ferrying people across to our main offices.
We will also have our shop where you can purchase all of the latest Mantic goodness, and you can even pre-order Deadzone too, though that won’t ship for a couple of weeks yet.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow! |
A helping hand
Congratulations to Prodos and the Alien versus Predator Kickstarter – the product looks gorgeous and we appreciate the little joke ;) Kickstarter is a wonderfully glorious place and our friends at River Horse, Battle Systems and War and Peace are all running projects of their own. If you’re into card games and are inspired by the elements – or the neat rules by Alessio and the glorious art by Ralph Horsley, then the Tarot of LOKA might be for you! It's already looking great, and that's just going by the few cards that have been drawn up as samples! The game has 16 days to go and has already reached 69% of its funding goal; if you're interested in helping it smash past 100%, head over to the project page and get involved! Furthermore, if you’re looking for some interior spaceship tiles ideal for sci-fi games like Project Pandora, then just check out Battle Systems Sci-fi Modular Terrain. This awesome terrain requires no glue, no painting or cutting as it’s made from pre-punched Card. Battle Systems have even been kind enough to feature our models on it and I’m sure you’ll agree, it looks stunning. The last one we wanted to share with you is the Tables and Terrain by War and Peace which is a wargames club in Nottingham hoping to raise enough funds to fill out the hall with more tables to attract new members - if you can help out that'd be great!
Ironwatch 15 is now live!
The latest issue of Ironwatch is available for free download! Featuring this rather fetching front cover of a Forge Father Brokkr being chased by the Plague – not a situation we recommend you find yourself in – the fanzine includes Rogue Agents - a brand new Warpath RPG, Breach Part 5 and the Zombie Endless Swarm - and article on how best to make the most of your Undead host... |
