Salute 2014 - with Prodos Games

Well I got up at 4:30 in the morning so as to give myself plenty of time to get ready before the two and a half (ish) hour drive to Salute 2104 in London.

Thanks to satellite navigation technology we managed to get there without any wrong turnings...the journey back was a different matter though...but I digress...

After 'helping' with the setting up...by which I mean 'stealing things from the cabinet to photograph at virtually the same rate they were putting them in' I helped* set up the demo table and briefly posed in my newly acquired Prodos Games shirt...it was at that point that I realised that I looked like I'd only had about three hours sleep...obviously this was nothing to do with the fact that I'd only had about three hours sleep...

*proper helping this time not my fake helping from earlier...

The demo table was very nice indeed...

One of the advantages to helping out on the stand is that you can stroll behind it and take stuff out of the cabinets in order to photograph it without that shiny blur that usually accompanies such event pictures. Admittedly some of mine were still taken that way but in my defence it was a really busy day, lol. In fact there were people hanging around the AvP cabinet before the doors were even open...

But what you really want is some model pictures, right?

Go on then...

Mishima - Kunshu Dragonriders.

Dark Legion - Valpurgis.

Imperial - Hurricane Walker.

These might be of interest as well...

Unfortunately most of the AVP pictures I took were of the 'through the glass cabinet' variety...however I may be able to get my hands on them for some better close-up shots in the near future. These are still at the 'prototype' stage though and could still change...

All in all it was a great day.

I must have done not far off twenty demo's over the day (some were two at a time admittedly) and the other two guys demoing on the two smaller tables (which I didn't photograph...sorry) were also similarly busy all day. Other than the couple of what I affectionately refer to as 'babysitter demos'* the three of us were happily watching people stroll from the demo tables over to the Prodos Games stand and subsequently wondering off with armfuls of new purchases and hopefully between us we've bought a few new people into the hobby and taught a few others how to use their new purchases.

* A 'babysitter demo' is when a parent (usually a dad) strolls over, insists that his children desperately want a demo of whatever game system your showing off and then wanders off on his own to have a relaxing stroll around unencumbered by the kids while you're stuck with them.....As a parent myself I completely understand, lol.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome...

Warzone Resurrection - Imperial PDF

The nice gentlemen at Prodos Games have released a preview of their upcoming Imperial rulebook containing the rules for all the models in the upcoming starter set and some others as well as a significant amount of background material and the Imperial factions own special rules.

It can be found here or by clicking on the above picture.

It contains rules for this lot...

...amongst others.

If you'd like a closer look at some of these units then there's previews and 'unboxings' of both the Starter Set and the Golden Lions that can be found here and here respectively.

If you happen to be in London on Saturday you can always pop over to their stand at Salute 2014 as I'm sure there will be plenty of Imperial stuff there for you to look at as well as much, much, more.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

Unboxing Warzone Resurrection - Golden Lions

Though it's unlikely that I'll ever have the finances to be able to do unboxings on everything in the entire Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection range (much that I'd love to) I will be doing them on any that I get my hands on.

I have a number of Warzone models acquired before they started to put them in boxes so a number of my 'unboxings' will actually be 'unbaggings' I'm sure you've all seen pictures of things in a bag so we'll skip that bit...

Unassembled.
We'll look at both sides of the parts 'as they come' without any clean-up in order to give you a complete picture of what you get and what work they need.

The kit includes Stat Cards for the models as well as a number of 'Strategy', 'Tactical' and 'Gear' cards for use with the advanced rules. Some of these cards are only available with certain models but this is helpfully labelled on each card. Where there are multiple quantities of each card I'll just show one of each type.

Stat Card.

Tactical, Strategy and Gear cards.
There are often more than one of each card and sometimes as many as three or four but showing the same cards multiple times seemed a bit redundant.

Assembled.
Each of the three Golden Lions bodies is in a slightly different pose and each arm comes with a ball joint which allows the arms to be posed in a variety of ways. Mould lines are virtually none existent and I had absolutely no assembly issues whatsoever...

Despite it's obvious close combat bias the model does have a gun mounted on one arm. At least it gives them something to do while they're closing on the enemy and as they each have three wounds they should be able to get stuck in fairly reliably...

Here's some close-ups of some other areas of detail as well...

Some Painted Ones...
