Abstract

883,874. Spinning yarns. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., ERNEST. July 18, 1960 [July 23, 1959], No. 25257/59. Class 120(3) [Also in Groups XXXVIII and XL(b)] In a machine for twist crimping thermoplastic yarn in which the yarn is drawn from a supply package 11 and passes through guide 12, a magnetic hysterisis tensioning device 13 a further pigtail guide 14 over a heater 15, a false twister 16 and feed rolls 17 to a winding device 18 which serves to wind it on to a take up package, the tension in the yarn is sensed by the finger 19 movement of which, due to variations of tension, are detected electrically (see Group XXXVIII). Similar arrangements sensing the tension in other threads being crimped by the machine are connected to the other positions of switch 25 and the tension in all the threads is sequentially sampled by wiper 26 connected to indicating and alarm circuits 30, 31, 32.
