Abstract

798,909. Stretching and twisting yams. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH. June 26, 1956 [July 19, 1955], No. 19795/56. Class 120(3) An "effect" yarn is produced on a stretching and ring twisting machine by con tinuously stretching a monofilament of a linear polycondensation product e.g. a polyamide, polyester, or polyurethane, immediately submitting it to a dry heating, and winding on the twisting spindle: the collected monofil is subsequently further twisted to form a twist-lively yarn. The monofil may be heated by passage through a tubular member the internal diameter of which may not exceed 1 m.m. As shown, a monofil 2 passes over a thread brake 1 and through a guide 6 which is so positioned as to ensure that the monofil is in contact over an angle of more than 180 degrees with the resilient surface of a pressure roller 4 mounted in swing arms 5 and frictionally driven by a roller 3. The monofil emerging from the nip of the rollers 3, 4, passes over stretching rods 7, effects several spaced turns around a stretching roller 8 coacting with a guide roller 9, thence over a guide roller 10. through an insulated electrically heated (135‹C.-155‹C.) tube and is guided by rollers 14 and 15 and a guide 16 to a spindle 17 on which it is wound. The yarn thus produced is divided into two separately spooled yarns to which further twists e.g. to a final twist of 450 turns per inch, are applied in opposite directions.
