Abstract

1,159,510. Cored yarns. K. KAWASHIMA. 20 Dec., 1967 [24 Dec., 1966; 14 July, 1967; 18 Sept., 1967; 28 Oct., 1967], No. 57778/67. Heading B8G. [Also in Division D1] A yarn comprising a non-twisted sliver bound by a thread wound spirally thereabout is formed by false twisting the sliver between feed and draw rolls and binding the sliver, while falsetwisted, with the thread. As described, the sliver passes directly from the condenser of a woollen card to the feed rolls and to a rotating false-twist tube having at the entry end a friction ring which twists the sliver. Thread from a reel mounted coaxially on the tube also passes into the entry end of the tube. The yarn thus formed is drawn by the draw rolls to tighten the thread around the sliver and is wound up into a cheese. The sliver may be fed from the feed rolls to the false twister by air streams spirally directed down a feed tube. The sliver may be bound by a second thread wound in the opposite direction around the sliver by using a second false-twister and reel. The sliver may comprise wool or acrylic fibres, or horse or human hair. The thread may be a monofilament or a stretch yarn.
