Abstract

1324345 Floating harbours AKERS MEK VERKSTED AS and J M SLOTNAES 7 Dec 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 56809/71 Heading E1H A floating quay or harbour installation comprises at least two emerged bodies 1, 2 which form a V or U shaped harbour basin 5 and are supported on submerged transverse buoyant bodies 4 extending underneath the basin. The bottoms of the emerged bodies 1, 2 may be embedded in the tops of the submerged bodies 4, or these bodies may be interconnected by vertical columns. An entry 10 to the basin is defined between wave baffles 8, 9 at the rear of the installation, which may be anchored at its bow 3 and be provided with propulsion means at its free ends 14. Both the emerged and the submerged bodies are divided by horizontal and vertical bulkheads 12 into ballasting and/or oil or gas storage tanks. The bodies 4 which may be of downwardly open form, may support emerged bodies forming more than one such harbour basin.
