Abstract

1384018 Closure caps ANCHOR HOCKING CORP 13 June 1972 [14 June 1971] 27595/72 Heading B8T A cap for a glass container 3 comprises a moulded inner ring 2 which has a bead 7 (or groove) engaging a groove 10 (or bead) in the container 3 and which is formed with screw threads 12 (or lugs) engaging screw-threads 13 (or lugs) on an outer cover 4, a flange 16 on the ring 2 engaging the lower edge 14 of the skirt 15 of the cover 4 to exclude insects and dirt, and sealing means being provided within the cover for sealing the container 3. The cap 1 may be pushfitted on to the container 3, and subsequently removed and replaced by screwing, the ring 2 being prevented from rotating by projections in the container groove 10 engaging recesses in the ring bead 7. The sealing means may be a gasket 5, or a bent-inward portion of the cover 4 engaging the ring 2 (which may be extended over the container rim). A tamperproofing band 17 is connected to the ring flange 16 by means of a tear strip 19 and rupturable bridges, and prevents the cover 4 being gripped and twisted. The screw-threads 12, 13 may comprise overlapping portions or be continuous.
