Abstract

1,000,164. Closure caps. METAL CLOSURES Ltd. April 16, 1964 [May 10, 1963], No. 18548/63. Heading B8T. A closure cap, suitable for vacuum sealing a container with a threaded neck, comprises a disc member 2, Fig. 1, and an outer shell 1 of thin aluminium having a removable band 6 marked off at the lower margin of the shell by an interrupted slit line 7, and co-operating with a neck projection 6<SP>1</SP>. The disc member is fitted in a groove 10 in the outer shell so that the seal is only broken when rupture of the band has commenced and when rib 11 contacts the disc. The shell may be threaded in situ on the container by a rolling operation. In modifications, the slit line may be replaced by a tear strip; and the removable band affixed to the container neck by circumferentially spaced interengaging projections. The outer shell and disc may be shaped to facilitate stacking of the containers. Specifications 369,494, 814,437, 895,191 and 974,564 are referred to.
