1362548 Nestable containers FOSTER GRANT CO Inc 30 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 36086/71 Heading A4A A nestable tin-walled plastics material container has a bottom 12, a side wall 14 extending upwardly and outwardly from the bottom, a stacking protruberance disposed symmetrically about a vertical axis of the container, the protruberancehavingalower stacking shoulder in the plane of bottom 12 and an upper stacking shoulder 15 parallel to and spaced axially upwards from the lower shoulder, the upper shoulder 15 describing a plural odd number of lobes 21 symmetrically disposed about said axis and connected by intermediate portions 19, said portions 19 being located diametrically opposite respective lobes 21 and being nearer said axis than the lobes, and a protruberance wall 16 connecting said lower and upper stacking shoulders, said wall 16 being divergent in an upward direction relative to said axis at the outer portions of lobes 21 to form an engaging portion 22 on each lobe 21 to engage the lower stacking shoulder on a like nested container, said wall 16 being parallel to or convergent in an upward direction relative to said axis at said intermediate portions. The lower shoulder may be circular of radius Rl which is less than the distance R2 of engaging portions 22 from said axis by at least the minimum wall thickness of the container. In an alternative form, the stacking protruberance is of generally equilateraltriangle form, Fig. 5 (not shown).
