Abstract

976,178. Nestable cups &c. DE HAVILLAND PLASTICS PTY. Ltd. July 12, 1963 [July 13, 1962; Aug. 24, 1962], No. 27801/63. Heading A4A. A nestable thin-walled cup &c. of plastics material comprises an upwardly divergent side wall integral with a base 16 and having inwardly indented portions 12 each of which has two mutually divergent side walls 14, an inner wall 13, which is parallel to the axis of the cup, and a top portion 11 forming a part of a discontinuous shelfseating for an inserted cup and having a length greater than the distance between the lower ends of the side walls. The top portion 11 is wider than the thickness of the material of the cup to avoid jamming when dispensed from a vending machine and the nesting faces 17 being longer than the gaps between the top portions 11 and inner cup is adequately supported without particular arrangement of the stack. In modifications the floor 16 is other than circular, the indented portions are formed intermediate of the length of the side walls and are not evenly spaced or uniformly dimensioned. Only a single indented portion may be provided. In further modifications the divergence of the side walls 14 is assymetric and the inner wall 13 may be divergent upwardly to a lesser degree than the side wall of the cup.
