Abstract
1,001,630. Fuel elements. NIHON GENSHIRYOKU KENKYUJO. April 5, 1963 [April 23, 1962], No. 13717/63. Heading G6C. [Also in Division F4] The casing 1 of a nuclear fuel element is formed on its exterior surface with longitudinally extending straight fins 2, and, by making transverse cuts 3 across these fins, the edges 2a, 2b of the short fins so formed are shaped in the manner shown in Fig. 3. Hence, fluid flowing over the tube in the general direction axially of the tube is deflected by the out-turned fin portions 2a, 2b as shown by the arrow A. The invention is applicable to finned tubes having splitter fins 4 (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown).
