Abstract

Esta invención se refiere a composiciones y métodos para modificar un gen BBX en plantas de manera de suprimir la respuesta de evitación de la sombra. La invención además se refiere a plantas y partes de plantas producidas usando los métodos y las composiciones de la invención. Reivindicación 1: Una planta o parte de la misma que comprende por lo menos una mutación en un gen B-BOX (BBX) endógeno que codifica un factor de transcripción BBX. Reivindicación 28: Una célula vegetal que comprende un sistema de edición que comprende: (a) una proteína efectora asociada a CRISPR-Cas; y (b) un ácido nucleico guía (ARNg, ADNg, ARNcr, ADNcr) que tiene una secuencia espaciadora con complementariedad a un gen objetivo endógeno que codifica un factor de transcripción BBX. Reivindicación 48: Un método de producción / cultivo de una planta con edición del genoma (p. ej., con edición de bases) libre de transgenes, que comprende: (a) cruzar la planta de cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1 - 27 o 43 - 46 con una planta libre de transgenes, a fin de introducir así la mutación en la planta que está libre de transgenes; y (b) seleccionar una planta de progenie que comprende la mutación pero que está libre de transgenes, para de ese modo producir una planta con edición del genoma (p. ej., con edición de bases) libre de transgenes. Reivindicación 49: Un método para crear una mutación en un gen BBX endógeno en una planta, que comprende: (a) dirigir un sistema de edición de genes a una porción del gen BBX que comprende una secuencia que tiene por lo menos 80% de identidad de secuencia con respecto a cualquiera de SEQ ID Nº 75 - 78 o 79 - 82; y (b) seleccionar una planta que comprende una modificación ubicada en una región del gen BBX que tiene por lo menos 80% de identidad de secuencia con respecto a cualquiera de SEQ ID Nº 75 - 78 o 79 - 82.
