Abstract

Método para modular (por ejemplo, disminuir) el contenido de alcaloides de una planta (por ejemplo, una planta de tabaco), donde dicho método comprende modificar dicha planta mediante modulación de la actividad o expresión de al menos un gen que codifica una proteína de unión a hemo SOUL. También se provee el uso de por lo menos un gen que codifica una proteína de unión de hemo SOUL para modular el contenido de alcaloides de una planta, así como células de tabaco, plantas, materiales de propagación vegetal, hojas cosechadas, tabacos procesados o productos de tabaco que se pueden obtener de acuerdo con la presente.
