Both are comedy anime, with bored, detached loner Mcs which are surrounded by a lot of people that force them to interact and socialize with others.

I find it hard to put into words what exactly makes these shows feel similar to me, but I think the depictions of stereotypical Japanese school life (each with their own spin on it) are both very familiar and very watchable for those who find comfort in them.
