Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan

To the average person, psychic abilities might seem a blessing; for Kusuo Saiki, however, this could not be further from the truth. Gifted with a wide assortment of supernatural abilities ranging from telepathy to x-ray vision, he finds this so-called blessing to be nothing but a curse. As all the inconveniences his powers cause constantly pile up, all Kusuo aims for is an ordinary, hassle-free life—a life where ignorance is bliss.

Unfortunately, the life of a psychic is far from quiet. Though Kusuo tries to stay out of the spotlight by keeping his powers a secret from his classmates, he ends up inadvertently attracting the attention of many odd characters, such as the empty-headed Riki Nendou and the delusional Shun Kaidou. Forced to deal with the craziness of the people around him, Kusuo comes to learn that the ordinary life he has been striving for is a lot more difficult to achieve than expected.

Being born a psychic might seem like a blessing to some; for teenager Saiki Kusuo it's more of a double edged–sword. While he was gifted with incredible powers, it came at the cost of the thing he wants most: a peaceful and quiet life.



Sure being able to teleport, manipulate time, and petrify people, are grand powers that could be used to fight evil. Saiki would rather spend his days lazing around.

However, as the saying goes, with "great powers comes great responsibilities". even if those responsibilities are helping his parents settle an argument, protecting the world from his mad–scientist older brother, ... or saving his friends from their own stupidity, Saiki's life is anything but peaceful.


What really sold The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. for me was the rapid-fire comedy, watching even someone with god–like abilities struggle with the hassles of everyday life was really enjoyable.

I really loved how the show itself tried to portray the craziest events as normal everyday occurrence, and how even though Saiki is this 'cool' teenager with really awesome powers, he doesn't outshine the other characters, who each bring their own unique blend of craziness they bring to the anime.

Mixed Feelings

Good. Funny. Was initally biased against because of the fanbase, but I understand the appeal. It's kind of like watching TikToks with how fast the pace is, but somehow, it works. Although, fair warning, watching sub is not for the faint of heart. Looking away will drastically ruin the experience because of just hoe quickly everything progresses.

It's pretty mind numbing and doesn't have really any specfiic plot points, but that's kind of the point. It's even addressed in the show. That may go against what many watchers find appealing in shows, but for those who enjoy crack cocaine infused with a japanese occult johnny test, ... this might just be gold.

If you genuinely have nothing else to watch, and are just bored and need to avoid your dopamine levels crashing... I'd say give this one a shot.

Saiki is an anime about a boy who has psychic powers but despite this awesome gift he is very pessimistic
Story: The story isn't really anything special but this anime doesn't particularly need anything grand as its very episodic and cut up in 5-minute segments.

Art: Pretty awful to be honest. Characters aren't ugly but the animation is so lazy.

Sound: The voice acting was fine, and they have some nice quirky sound effects which can be quite charming

Characters: Saiki is a funny character and is quite relatable in his thinking, however, the surrounding characters are very over the top and can sometimes be funny, but other ... times annoying

Enjoyment: This is just pure fun and something light-heart to put on in the background. The humour was funny at first but after a few hours of watching it became mundane.
