Based on the historical fantasy novel "Shabake" (published by Shincho Bunko) by Hatanaka Megumi,
this work, which is full of Edo atmosphere and warm-hearted characters, has been adapted into a wonderful series.
This story started as an award winning novel has run the range of adaptations and now we are blessed with an anime.
I think folks are missing out on this series because of the pacing but for me
it is a conscious look at the day to day life of the characters in the Edo period.
The series has all of the worth of human experience in every scene.
The pace is slow and there are questions that

Not many shows has dealt with the evil corporation from the salaryman's pov but here we are with Ganglion.
This is a SOL of Kenji Isobe and his daily trials on and off the job. Done by Studio Maf their first series. Tragic and hysterical at the same time we see inside his daily routine. The humor is on the low key side but universal. Good voice work from the cast and Youji Ueda carries the series as Kenji. Good animation and direction but off beat so not for those that want action packed adrenaline. Definitely for those who have experienced the joys of working for unreliable bosses. ... Jul 17, 2025
Ginga Tokkyuu Milky☆Subway

add
Super human Chiharu and cyborg Makina got arrested for breaking space traffic laws.
They're stuck with a small crew of misfits and sentenced to clean up the interplanetary train – the so-called "Milky☆Subway,"as their community service. This show is fast and funny in the CGDCT world a perfect example of Manzai comedy at its finest. An original series from Youhei Kameyama based on a grad project from 2022 he does almost all the production work in this and I say well done. Nails the dystopian future without being sappy or sweet. Delinquents with attitude and a ramped up thrill ride with great voice work and dialogue. ... Jun 21, 2025
Everyday Host

I am amazed that no one has written a review about this show. If you want to experience the underbelly of the Host Club scene I can't think of a better example than Everyday Host. With a cast of insane characters we navigate the learning experience of Hajime Sekiguchi as tries to learn the decadent world of the host.
No fan service and surprisingly no man service either. Just good voice acting and gags about being a host and the learning curve for being the top host at Club One. Considering that the studio that did this does mostly kid shows it shows a cool sense ... Sep 2, 2023

From Chronus Inc comes a show based on the live action game from 2004. In a race against time, celebrity contestants try to outmaneuver black-clad hunters for a chance to win a cash prize. The future has the human race living on the moon but the rules of the game still apply. We follow a group of eccentric characters as they compete for the prize.
I enjoy the humor and skill set of the group of celebrity contestants as they work together or not to win the prize. The voice actors are all on point with good-natured banter while avoiding the hunters. The animation style is ... Jan 26, 2023

This is a two-minute short animation on the theme of Egyptian mythology set near the Nile River in Egypt around 3000 B.C.
It features the gods Mejedo, Anubis, Ra, Bastet with their two human caretakers Ahkeu and Iabi. The human characters Ahkeu and Iabi are played out like a classic Manzai as they learn about the gods of Egypt. They trick and are tricked by the gods. There is some mythology with the gods powers explained but it is all used for humor. If your are a fan of Toshiyuki Morikawa you will appreciate the fact that he does all of the voice work. Morikawa also ... Oct 20, 2022
Human Bug Daigaku

add
Every season there is a show that challenges you and takes you to places that you didn't expect. For me this is that show, Hirofumi Satake survives his hanged execution and is guided to remember his past. Because of his defect he is considered the "Human Bug." Expect life lessons, moral dilemmas, and thoughts on being human done in classic 50's - 60's retro art style.
Similar to Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei and Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san for humor. The conversations between Satake and the Professor in each episode give us more questions and answers on his life. The learning curve is strong and yes because ... |
