Just me, or is conversation incredibly stiff in this series??

I feel like the conversation in this show is incredibly shallow, like it's just there to fill up time. It's so unnatural. We barely get any insight into any of the characters when they talk and the little bits of their personality we do see just feel so one-dimensional. And when they try to have the important moments where a character is reflecting on a more abstract, philosophical concept or something of the sort, it just doesn't feel earned. It feels out of place. Like when the class clown randomly decides to try to play it cool, act like the class jock or the skater kid. And the humor is terrible. I feel like it's trying to imitate the conversation style the characters had in Cowboy Bebop, but it just falls completely flat. Conversation is so stiff in the unimportant moments that I can't take anything they say seriously when they're actually saying something of direct value.
