| Those comedy scenes are completely unnecessary. Especially at the part where Anderson charges towards Alucard, while reciting a verse of the Bible. It could've been a cool fight but Seras just comes in and ruins it. But anyways the fights in this episode were great. So Alucard's a masochist as well huh? |
| agree the "comedy" bits fall flat and cringe. this was possibly the most violent episode(?) of anime i've ever seen, they really don't hold back in the animation department it seems. the nazi thing comes off as extremely played out and stupid but i'll see where it goes. |

| I love how SWAT team with MP5 and SWAT downstairs with ballistic shields which are rated for Level 3 and 3A, which for our non-technical friends mean, it can stop rifle rounds like 7.62x51 NATO & 0.308 winchester FMJ rounds or according to NIJ. Dude is using a custom made 13 mm .454 Casull round, which is like Nitro Express rounds. If you don't know both, simply put elephant bullets/gun. I would not want to be near something which would make a cave in my body and they were thinking they could tank it. Man it was so funny seeing people just looking at them fighting downstairs when they were using enough force to level the ground and penetrate their shields like butter. Also, who tf sees a anti tank rifle and run towards it? Has anyone seen someone attack someone with bigger guns? Dude is walking with a 10 kg or 22 lbs gun. I really love how much knowledge and bullshit the author has mixed together so perfectly. Everything just kind of makes sense. |

| First episode of 2007, and looks like MAL has posts from back when this came out, that’s so cool man, one of my favorite things about this site is the history it has. And now we have two Golden Kamuy VAs, I recognized Lt. Tsurumi from Tubalcain lol, so I guess Hijikata and Tsurumi faced each other in this series, only Tubalcain is not a main character as he died this very episode, unfortunate because his card themed attacks were very cool, but at least he had a really good showing, he also made Alucard pull out his WTF form like Luke did before, and now the Nazis know that Alucard can do that if they didn’t already, not sure if this is Alucard’s ultimate form or what but I feel like he has to have more power he hasn’t shown off, because showing his entire hand already would be a bad idea on his part. That aside, this was another well paced episode, hopefully episode 1 will be the only one that’s considered quick. And in this one we saw Integra go all in on showing no mercy to any oppressors, be it humans or vampires, I’m sure that was tough to do, but realistically if they back down from a fight because it involves innocents, that could be a weakness that would be exploited, so it had to be done, RIP that entire infiltration team tho, they at least let Alucard pull off that sick coordinated flagpole scene, no idea how he did that but hey it was cool lol. We also met some new characters in this one, the Hellsing personnel have been replaced with mercenaries called Wild Geese, their leader Pip is quite amusing, that scene where Seras proved she’s a vampire to them was one of the best comedy bits so far imo. There was also Enrico Maxwell, the leader of the Vatican’s Iscariot division, he was quite the character I must say, nearly destroyed negotiations because he couldn’t help ragebaiting Integra lol, he even did it when he was telling her who Millennium is, I can’t help but like him despite the fact he’s a bastard. And wow so the Vatican helped Nazis escape Germany at the end of World War 2, and that’s how they’ve come into the power they have now, no idea how they got the Vatican to help them but damn that is a bad look for the Vatican. And of course there’s also the Major and his right hand men, idk if he has a name besides Major but I can already tell he’s gonna be a very entertaining character, he has the Nazi laugh down perfectly in the Japanese version anyway lol, and we haven’t seen the full scope of what the Nazis have in their arsenal but they do have a fancy Zeppelin, I imagine it must have stealth capabilities if they haven’t been detected flying around yet. But regardless of how big their army is, they’re ready for war and the Major seems all too happy about that, can’t wait to see how it all goes down when they finally make themselves known. And the ED of this one might be my favorite so far, it makes me wish the whole ost was like that (or metal) but it is what it is. |
