Kara no Kyoukai Movie 1: Fukan Fuukei

A series of eerily similar suicides occupy newspaper headlines in late '90s Japan. Amidst all the bizarre resemblances, there is one detail that stands out above the rest: the victims have all taken their lives by leaping from the Fujou building, a run-down abandoned structure rising high above the city.

Shiki Ryougi, a cold-hearted girl living in an empty apartment, suspects that these sinister events have a supernatural cause. Possessing a mystical power herself, Shiki works to investigate the incidents alongside Touko Aozaki, a doll-making detective specializing in magic, and her friend Mikiya Kokotou who works as Touko's assistant.

Shiki unravels the mystery as she ventures through an enigmatic world to uncover the dark secrets surrounding the strange phenomenon.

Came back to write a review for this after finishing the series. Having watched it in both release and chronological order, I can say that the first movie is one of the stronger entries in this series and really good at hooking you into its mystery. By far the things that stood out to me is the music and the main character. But that can be said about all of Type-Moon's various media, the music will always hit and the main character will always be interesting.

Whilst confusing at times I highly suggest keeping with it and all the pieces will fall into place eventually. My ... best advice is to just give it a go. But I know it may not be for everyone and I can understand why you might drop it after this.

Mixed Feelings

Hmmmm, haaaahhhhhhhh,WHAT. IN. THE. ACTUAL FAK did I just watch. I don't even know how to write a review for this to be honest but we'll see what we can do
The story,for this this chapter at least is so FACKING MIIIIIIID, I don't even remember the last time i felt bores watching an anime ugh, what's it even about, Japanese ghost buster? Ghost slayer? What, what am I watching, what's all that about floating, flyin, falling,dying,what,WHAT did I waaaaatccccch(this is your not so good recommendation so far paddy, don't let let it happing again). I didn't vibe with the story nor it's pacing so ... ot gets a 4/10 for me

Now, what's next... ah yes the characters, I hope the characters were a bit interesting to watch, oh wait,THEY FACKING WEREN'T,characters so boring I couldn't remember any of their names. Sukuom?suck suck? Suchmid? Just can't be bothered with mid characters and what's up with this bum ass dumb ass villain, talking about "I wanted them to notice me and be my friends so I FACKING MURDERED THEM" such dumassery,such bullshit, didn't you realize it wouldn't work the third time you did that, did you never hear "third time's the charm" well take a hint lame ahh loser. The main mc isn't any better with her "tsundere" ahh ugh when will this trope EVER DIEEEEEEEE UUGHHHHHHHHHHH, HAHHHHHH. Characters get a 5, it's whatever

The only saving grace of this mumbo jumbo od a movie is the animation. It's better than seven deadly frames and some moreen day animation and the animation was the only, the ONLY reason why I sat through 50mins of this BULLSHI-. Animation gets a 7

Overall the anime is... tolerable if you reduce expectations( you recommended bangers when it was your turn but this, this was not it) the shows aight I guess, will have to be forced to watch the rest tho. So it gets a 6 overall, animation's working overtime for that score

I don't normally swear in my reviews so, I shall apologise in advance. This show, is not the worst show I've seen but my goodness is it shit.

Let's get these good bits out of the way. Animation is good. It is really hard to appreciate it at times however, given that the show is shit, but still, it's very good when you can look past it. Weirdly though, the action sequences, that are shit, animation quality drops in standard. What was a little frustrating too, given that the story is shit, are the moments where there is nothing happening, like a character opening and ... then eating and ice-cream, are so obviously attempts to say 'ooh look at this smooth realistic human animation' and sadly, it's really annoying. What doesn't help though is that the story is shit. Anyway, animation as far as skill is concerned is great, but as
far as presenting that skill is not the best 6/10.

Music, unlike the story, which is shit, is excellent for the most part. Really nice atmosphere created through the sound design that does all it can to save this show, desperately trying so so hard, to polish the turd that is the story, the shit story, but doesn't make it shine enough to make it enjoyable. Nevertheless, the music is great and if the story wasn't so shit, it would have less work to do. I would give the music and sound design an 8.

Now the story. Have to be honest, it's amazing.....amazingly shit. My god, what in all that is holy is this story even doing. Dead character design, absolutely zero character development, no shitting idea what the characters were called, I STILL don't know what actually happened here. I'm baffled. Never before have I come away from a show with so many questions about what happened. I have watched this show, intently, with squinted eyes, leaning forward with my best concentration face on and I STILL have no idea why anyone on this planet felt this story needed to be animated. Nothing happens, nothing is explained and you come away from the show, honestly, emptier as a human as a result. IT.IS.SHIT. 1/10

Anyway, the show overall is shit. The aggregated score is 5 for me. This is the first time I feel I have been cheated by maths. I don't want this to be a 5. Because this show, and say it with me, IS SHIT. Don't watch it. I feel it may actually reduce your life span, funnily enough, after watching this, you'll be happy if it did.

(Can't believe this show was my 100th review!!!)
